Wholesome Soup Ideas For The Monsoons It’s finally raining outside, the stifling heat escapes, giving way to the sweet smell of rain drenching the ground. This, the smell of wet mud and the sound of the rain drowning all the noise is what your soul needs to get into the second half of the year, isn’t it? But there’s still something missing, isn’t there? A warm little something that’ll warm your soul. For most of us, that warm little something is either a hot cup of tea or coffee, steaming pakoras, or a warm bowl of soup. While the rest are great too, there’s something very wholesome about a bowl of piping hot soup. It’s a meal by itself and can be had at any time really. Instead of ordering some unhealthy manchow soup, why not whip up some truly wholesome soups yourself? If the idea of cooking some soup sounds challenging, check out these easy soup ideas. Tomato soup - A piping hot bowl of creamy tomato soup that’s perfectly seasoned is the hands-down winner when it comes to comfort foods for rainy days. Loaded with vitamin C, this soup is super easy to make. All you have to do is fry some garlic in olive oil or butter, then add your favorite dried herbs, some red chilli powder, and tomatoes puree to it. After it comes to a boil, let it simmer for a while and you’re done. For some crunch, add a few croutons to your bowl. Vegetable soup - For this mother of all nutritious soups, take a pot and add some oil to it. Then, toss in and fry finely chopped garlic, ginger, peas, carrots, sweet corn, spring onions, cabbage, and french beans for a few minutes. After that, add either chicken or vegetable stock, water, and your favorite herbs and seasoning to the pot. Now cover it and let it simmer for a while. Once the veggies are soft and cooked, add in a mixture of water and cornflour to thicken the soup, let it simmer for a few minutes, and it’ll be ready to devour. Egg drop soup - Start by sautéing some chopped ginger and garlic in a pot. Once fragrant and done, add some chicken stock, black pepper masala, and bring to a boil. Add a mixture of water and cornflour to it, and let it come to a boil, and then turn down the heat to simmer. Now, slowly add whisked eggs while constantly stirring the soup. Let it simmer for a few minutes and you’re done. You can easily turn this yummy soup into sweet corn chicken soup by simply adding some shredded chicken pieces and steamed sweet corn to it while it’s simmering. Readymade soup mixes - This is for the ones who cannot cook to save their lives or simply can’t whisk up the courage to start cooking something, you can always opt for readymade soup mixes. On one condition though, the soup shouldn’t be loaded with artificial preservatives, sugars, additives, and colors. Because that beats the purpose. The next time you are online grocery shopping, add a few packs of healthy readymade soups to your cart.
