BEN THOMPSON joined the Solution Underwriting team more than three years ago. Starting in a fi nancial lines underwriting role, he moved into national business development across all lines of business as his eye for identifying niche products and opportunities proved a natural fi t with the promotion of Solution’s innovative products.

This year marks Thompson’s 20th year in the insurance industry since starting o with QBE in the travel insurance division as a sales representative. From there, he moved into broking and forged his career through various broking roles, at both national and international brokerages, before moving into underwriting at Solution.

“Over the past two decades, I have been fortunate to work with and provide services to a diverse range of clients, assisting them with often complex risk profi les, which has helped me to not only understand the unique exposures of myriad occupations, but also fostered an appreciation of the requirements and services the broker market expects,” Thompson says.

Of his role at Solution, Thompson says his job is “to bridge the relationship between our business and our broker network – and, most importantly, to ensure we remain on the pulse of what our market really wants and needs.”

Between broker meetings, UAC conferences and quoting new business, Thompson says he enjoys “spending time with my wife and our two daughters, as well as swinging a golf club when I get the chance.”
