What we do
Not all rental properties have the same needs; that’s why SGUA o ers a range of covers suitable for di erent types of rentals. In addition to our full-time domestic rental cover, SGUA provides protection for short-term holiday stays, including properties advertised on the popular Airbnb and Stayz platforms. Our holiday home facility will cover properties let for periods of less than three months if the property is used privately by the owner as a secondary home or a little bit of both.
We’re broker-friendly
We understand that our brokers want to transact business quickly with reduced ‘touch time’. With this in mind, we have developed an online quoting and cover placement system which allows the user access to alter and cancel policies, drastically reducing the wait and handling time for brokers. For the many brokers who handle residential property insurance, the pay-o is that they can manage larger volumes of business with minimal administration. We are well placed to provide cover for property portfolios, o ering the ability to manage di erent portfolios through one platform.

We make claiming easy
Our claims team come with many years of experience and deliver a seamless claims process. Brokers can conveniently lodge client claims online via SGUA’s website or, alternatively, they can call one of our friendly claims technicians who can help walk them through the process. This is a big selling point for SGUA as we set a high benchmark for our team to produce service excellence.

MARIA DE ORUETA has in recent months taken over the role of general manager of SGUA, one of the largest landlords insurance agencies in the country. Maria brings with her a wealth of experience in insurance, having worked for two big strata agencies over the past 17 years in a variety of roles, including underwriting, relationship management, and sales and marketing.
Maria started her insurance career in Sydney before moving to Perth in 2013 to grow the strata portfolio of a very respected strata company.
“That opportunity gave me tools to become really good at problem-solving, having to come up with solutions and ideas on the spot for my clients, something extremely important when you’re dealing with time di erences and you are also the only representative in the state. That role also taught me the importance of building good relationships not only with our clients and colleagues but the industry as a whole,” Maria says.
“Taking on the role as general manager for SGUA has been an extremely rewarding experience. I have been lucky to work with senior leaders who have given me full trust and autonomy to infl uence the culture of our business, allowing me to embrace things that are very close to my heart, like D&I, psychological safety, and actively demonstrating to our sta that we all collectively play an important role in the success of our organisation.
