St John’s Renfield Church Playgroup Children’s Medication Policy Statement: St John’s Renfield Church Playgroup acknowledges that some children may require medication to be administered while they are at playgroup under the following circumstances: 1. As a result of an accident or injury sustained while at playgroup. 2. As a result of prescribed medication that needs to be administered while at playgroup. The playgroup will undertake to administer first aid (from currently qualified practitioners) to any child that requires it. The playgroup will agree to administer prescribed medication only with signed authorisation from the parents and if necessary specific training in that administration.

The Playgroup will keep an up to date, fully stocked first aid kit. The Play leaders will attend relevant first aid courses to enable their qualifications to be kept up to date. The Playgroup will provide a mobile telephone for use in the event of emergencies.

There are a number of other issues and guidelines that need to be addressed and these can be found in the attached pamphlet from the SPPA. This policy was adopted at a meeting of St John’s Renfield Playgroup Committee held on _______________.
