LETTER FROM THE FOUNDER All Things Home Care, Inc. was established at a critically important time to better serve homebound patients, as well as provide extra benefits for a growing caregiver workforce. In stark contrast to congregate settings, a patient’s access to consistent, quality care in the home greatly reduces the risk of exposure to COVID-19, and lowers hospitalization rates. In this way, the most beloved and vulnerable members of our community can stay safer and healthier. It is my greatest pleasure to present the vision of All Things Home Care, Inc. as we aim to build a more dynamic workforce and strive to provide access to the highest quality care at home. We welcome you in becoming our partner in caregiving. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Rona Shapiro
Rona Shapiro has been active in the labor movement and in the fight for social justice for over 40 years. She became active as an 1199 union delegate in 1976, while working as a paralegal for the Legal Aid Society. She worked for more than a decade as a union organizer and in 1987 was elected to be an 1199 Vice-President/Area Director, working in the Union’s Home Care Division, which now represents over 50,000 homecare workers. Rona has been the Executive Vice President leading 1199’s Homecare Division for the last 10 years. She is a Trustee of the Home Care Benefit Fund, the Home Care Pension Fund and the Home Care Education Fund, all of which she helped to establish. She also helped to create the Basil Patterson Scholarship Fund so that homecare workers could attend college and go on to become nurses, social workers and other healthcare professionals. Together with the union leadership, Rona has fought to better the lives of homecare workers, both economically and fighting for them to be recognized for the important work they do in the community. Home care workers enable seniors and people with disabilities to live out their lives in their home with dignity, respect and independence. During the Covid pandemic home care workers have played a crucial role in our healthcare system, providing the needed support and lifeline to tens of thousands of homebound and people living with disabilities. 1199SEIU is now fighting to enact the Build Back Better Act to improve and expand jobs for home care workers so they can make a good living, take their rightful place as essential healthcare workers and ensure that homecare consumers have access to the care they need. Rona is very proud of the work 1199SEIU has done to help insure that home care workers received necessary PPE during covid as well as working with 1199 Homecare Agencies and the City of New York to get tens of thousands Homecare workers vaccinated, essential to moving our country forward.
Linda Polistin
Linda Polistin has been working in the field of social work for 30 years with a specialty in geriatrics, where her first and foremost focus has always been on being a patient advocate. Born in Haiti, Linda immigrated to the United States at the age of 18 and took up residence in Queens, NY. From there, Linda focused on her schooling and graduated from Queens College in 1984 with her bachelor’s degree in business. Linda quickly got a job working in the demanding and high paced environment of Wall Street. During her time on Wall Street, Linda married and became a mother to two beautiful children, Gregory and Tanya. It was also during this time that Linda felt a calling to change her life’s path. Always a woman of strong faith and belief in God, Linda leaned on her beliefs and family and made the courageous decision to change her career. She enrolled in Adelphi University in Garden City, NY and received her Master’s Degree in Social Work. This decision was based on Linda’s inherent core values that are rooted in wanting to help her community and those in need. She started her social work career at South Shore Health Care, where she proved herself to be a vital member of the interdisciplinary team working in many different capacities as a staff social worker. It was during this time, she met Dana Arnone. With Linda’s past history working in the business industry, and her and Danas’ combined desire to assist those in need, they decided to form their first company, Geriatric Care Services. The company was successful and branched off to become No Place like Home. It was with this company that Linda made many connections with patients and families in the community, as well as worked closely with their health care providers forming trusting and long lasting relationships. It was not long before her skills were being recognized and she was promoted to the Director of Social Services in the skilled nursing home settings. Among these include, Garden Care Center, Benenson Care Center and finally Belair Nursing and rehab. Linda has been the Director of Social Work at Belair, a 5 star rated CMS facility, since 2008. She is a powerful force in the field of social work and wants her future to be continuing to advocate for the needs and benefits of those in our communities who struggle and require our assistance the most. Currently, Linda lives in Merrick NY with her loving husband Silvera, and is blessed to be surrounded and supported by her children, Gregory and Tanya, her incredible grandson Camren, and extended family and friends.
Mildred Garcia-Gallery
Mildred Garcia-Gallery is recognized tonight for her hard work and dedication to Home-Care. As the founder of Ageless Companions, Outreach Mentorship Specialist for Reliance Home Senior Services, and a Long Island Regional Leader of the New York Caring Majority, it is evident she is an active member in the community, and believes strongly in Home-Care reform. Born and raised in East New York, Mildred has always had a passion for helping others. Since losing her mother at an early age, she found solace and joy in making the people around her happy. In her early childhood that came in the form of helping her family with the children they would foster. With these children, she found empathy and displayed grace to make a dark time in their life a little bit easier. During early adulthood, she found a job where her passion ignited. In 1989, Mildred began working at United Cerebral Palsy where aided adults with various special needs. She started off as a paraprofessional in the classroom and worked her way up to Records Coordinator where she handled administrative aspects at the school. No matter her role at the school, she was always hands-on with her patients and was always thinking of ways to improve the school and patient’s overall quality of life. Shortly after the birth of her first daughter, she decided to become a stay-at-home mother to be an active part of her children's’ lives during their developmental years. She also took on the role as a family caretaker for her Mother-in-Law and her Mother-in-Law’s sister. Once her three daughters became older, she decided to jump back into the workforce and focus on her own passions. Although motherhood gave her three blessings, she was ecstatic to be back in the field where she felt most comfortable, confident, and accepted. She began to collaborate with her good friend, Dana Arnone to come up with new ways to improve and make Home-Care more accessible for families on Long Island. After working with and learning from Dana for several years, she decided to form her own Home-care based business called Ageless Companions. In addition, she became an advocate for Fair Pay for Home-Care Workers, and joined the New York Caring where she would quickly become one of the Long Island Regional Leaders. She also advocates for the Poor People's Campaign which fights for systematic equality for all races, poverty, climate change, and more. She has become a powerful voice in HomeCare for patients and caregivers alike. She fights for what’s right and possesses a kindness that brings people from all different creeds together.
