WHY S.E.P. PROJECT?

- Vietnam (with ~300,000 teen abortion cases; 60 to 70% aged 15–19) has the highest adolescent abortion rate in SEA and the fifth highest in the world (statistics from the Vietnam Family Planning Association). - In Ho Chi Minh City the overall abortion rate has fallen recently, but the rate among minors has increased by ~4%, or 3,000 cases/ year. - Students receive little proper sex guidance and sharings from schools and families, resulting in insufficient knowledge about genders and safe sex. Unsafe abortion, as a result, leads to bad health and mental effects, infertility, or even fatalities. 6
