Christmas Dessert Table
styling a
Mini Christmas dessert table
Dessert tables have really exploded in popularity in the last year or so. They create a beautiful focal point and are a great ice breaker at parties and functions. Some of the designs we are now seeing are so stunning you really don’t need any other party decoration. This Mini Christmas Dessert Table was put together with props we already had lying around. With the vintage craze so popular right now, you can put together an interesting table without going too much expense. Some amazing things can be picked up at garage sales and op shops for just a few dollars. You just need to keep on the look out!

“We have both always been very creative people. Between us, we have done just about every craft out there.”
Bec Pullen and Tammi Komulainen became instant friends back in 2004 when they met as neighbours. Discovering a mutual love of all things pretty, girly and gorgeous, the girls realised they loved throwing dinner parties with friends and both loved to focus on the little details of entertaining such as table settings and the presentation of desserts. After doing some research they discovered US based dessert table queen, Amy Atlas and the world of designing dessert tables. They decided to launch their own dessert table business. “Looking back, it probably took us about five months from the time we first discussed the idea until actually making RubyJu happen,” Bec says. “The two months prior to launching RubyJu were quite hectic and a sharp learning curve.”
Bec and Tammi have been good friends since 2004. Their shared love of fashion, entertaining, craft, design and all things handmade led them to create their dessert table business, Ruby Ju. Based on the Gold Coast, QLD, the girls create gorgeous candy and dessert buffets for parties, weddings, fundraisers and functions.

upcycling
“Thrifting, repurposing and upcycling helps us breathe new life into old things.”
We all know the saying “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” and right now it is a very popular idea as we become constantly more aware of our environment and sustainable practices. Thrifting, repurposing and upcycling all have a common theme relating to giving new life to something that otherwise might have ended up in the bin. This issue I have created a few items for my daughter. Each was made using a combination of upcycled materials, found items and pieces from my scrap bag. They really are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to upcycling as you are limited only by your imagination.
