Polytechnics are often considered boring due to their focus on engineering and technology, aligning with their function as vocational education. In fact, technology is closely related to science, while art is an expression of feeling, culture, and emotion. Both complement each other, and when combined, they can produce something extraordinary. The touch of art in the design of polytechnics, especially for architecture, visual communication design, and interior design programs, is essential to create balance and harmony.

Integrating the area’s theme with the design of an urban shopping center, the mall citywalk concept at Bandung Forestwalk Mall prioritizes pedestrian comfort and creates the experience of walking through an urban forest with clean air. This design responds to the area’s concept holistically, offering harmony between architecture and the environment by providing space for plants to grow dominantly around the mall, while neutral materials and colors are used to enhance the natural impression and blend with the surroundings.
The mall’s building layout is positioned in the center of the area, flanked by two buildings, a hotel and an apartment, as well as two green open spaces, making it a focal point of the area.
Accessibility is continuous, aligning with the area’s main concept, the green spine, which connects the green corridor from Tegalega Park to the City Square. This green spine will be lined with trees, forming an urban forest.
Interconnected Multilayer Pedestrian
An elevated pedestrian path is created through the second layer, with a floating walkway that connects all the buildings in the area for continuous accessibility.

Mass Orientation
The placement of the building orientation is adjusted to the surrounding landscape aspects by responding to the site’s form, creating two masses with a gap that connects two plazas within the area.
Multilayer
The mass functions are designed with a multilayer concept, where the ground floor differs from the floors above it to accommodate the form and function.
Mass Form
The mass form is adjusted to the site’s context and surrounding environment by creating dynamic curved corners and generating void subtractions in the center of the mass.
Mass Conectivity
The connectivity between the masses is linked by a bridge that crosses through the site’s circulation.
Mass Entrance
Openings are made in both masses facing the road, serving as entryways, as well as within the interior of the masses.
Mass Identity
The mass identity reflects the function of a green mall/shopping center that integrates with the surrounding environment.
