Empat Arah Collective Space is a place where individuals or groups from different backgrounds can gather to discuss and work together. The name Empat Arah (Four Directions) signifies the exchange of ideas collectively, engaging in dialogue beyond just two-way communication.

The building layout emphasizes two sides: the east side (the grey side) uses brick and concrete, giving a strong impression, while the west side (the green side) is covered with climbing plants, offering a more organic and comfortable feel. These two sides reflect the building’s function as both a workspace and a place for recreation.
Human activity continues to increase over time, especially in urban areas marked by denser housing, which leads to a shrinking of available land. As a result, several issues arise, such as user comfort, privacy, and health. Health has become a crucial point of concern in this design due to the COVID-19 pandemic, making health issues highly important. Growth Modular Housing provides a solution to these challenges by focusing on creating compact, healthy, and affordable housing.
Basic Form
The building’s mass has a rectangular base with a linear orientation following the site to maximize the available space. The mass is angled toward the east to follow the direction of the sunrise.
Programming
The mass zoning is divided into flexible residential areas for two families, horizontal circulation, and service areas.
Elevated Mass
The building mass is elevated on a platform, following the tree concept and as a method to receive adequate sunlight.
Open Space
As the building’s mass expands, a void space is created underneath, functioning as an open public area that can be greened.
Substraction
A reduction is made to the building mass to create a large opening on the east side, maximizing the intake of morning sunlight, implementing the natural and healthy tree concept.
Modular
The building mass is designed to be modular and can be expanded vertically with a maximum of two floors.

Potential Scenario / Variation
Each module is designed with lightweight materials and flexible temporary sections, adapting to the needs of the occupants, especially during the pandemic when the demand for work-from-home spaces increased. This module allows for various space configurations while maintaining ergonomic and healthy conditions.

The main frame of the module uses two lightweight steel C75 beams, bolted or connected on both flat sides for rigidity and added strength. The frame is installed every 120/240 cm to match the GRC Board module.

Base Structure
Hollow galvalume steel is used as a reinforcement for the floor structure because it bears the most of the forces on it. Providing hollow steel with a tight enough distance can provide good strength to the floor so that it is safe to use for long periods of time.

The Baransu House is a type of compact house: a small 36 m² house that utilizes limited land but remains effective. Baransu is derived from the Japanese word meaning balance, where the house’s concept emphasizes a balance between empty and solid spaces, resulting in a healthy and sustainable house wrapped in a minimalist Japanese design.
Balance
The balance between solid and empty spaces applied in both the spatial layout and form of the building adds value to this structure.

The site has a linear shape, measuring 72 m², with a width of 6 meters and a length of 12 meters.
MAIN FUNCTION ENTRANCE
The built area zoning is arranged in an L-shape, forming a void space within the building. This void serves as a green area, balancing the outdoor and indoor spaces within the structure.

The prominent use of the gable roof creates the identity of a small, comfortable house with a simple and healthy context.
