Influencers help you reach more people in more authentic ways. Influencers can drive more media hype & buzz. Influencers can be more cost effective. Influencers can help increase sales, promote products or drive key brand messages.


STEP 1: FIND SOMEONE WHO FITS Why is this important? You will need to find someone that is inline with your brand messaging, product, audience and company mottos. Recommendation: Look for a real connection between your products, messaging, planned activity & audience. Quick tip: Keep it real, make sure the partnership makes sense. You wouldn’t partner with a death metal group to push the latest Channel Perfume.


STEP 2: THEY MUST TALK TO THEIR FANS Why is this important? Part of the power of working with influencers is the fan base they have built up. Recommendation: Make sure your influencer is constantly talking to his or her fan base, either by posting content, answering questions or giving updates on a regular basis. Quick tip: If influencers aren’t engaging on social media then they are hardly going to be worth supporting.


STEP 3: HAVE MORE THAN JUST ONE SOCIAL PAGE Why is this important? Really strong connections can be made across multiple social media platforms. It allows for different ways to interact and engage with fans. Recommendation: Ensure your influencer has no less than 3 powerful social followings ie: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram. Quick tip: Never rely on an influencer that has just one social platform as your reach & engagement will be limited.


STEP 5: TAKE PART IN EVENTS & PROMOTIONS Why is this important? Events are a great way to show the partnership and this can be mutually beneficial in many ways for both the influencer & brand. Recommendation: Set in place an agreement where the influencer is happy to appear at certain promotions or events. Quick tip: Make the event something that they care about or support a promotion that the influencer is holding ie: National Tour, Music Release or In store promotion.


STEP 5: IT’S NOT ALL ABOUT THE MONEY Why is this important? Not every great partnership needs to be based around money. Recommendation: If your budget is tight, look for other ways on how you can support the influencer. Maybe it’s custom made product or helping them gain media coverage? Quick tip: Look at all the options before you make your mind up about spending money on an influencer. The right person will want to work with you just as much as
