Obituary Mary Alice Hines Hargrove Born September 6, 1951 to Louis Vincent Roberts, Sr. and Willie Lee Hardin Roberts in Austin, TX. She attended Austin Independent Schools and graduated from L. C. Anderson High School in 1970. She was baptized at an early age at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Boyd Hansborough. In 1982, she met her husband Ricky Hargrove Sr. They had a unique life together and faced any challenge as one. They taught their kids how to survive hardships and to always love and respect family. She was a manager at Holiday Inn for 20 years. She was a faithful employee. She loved mentoring her employees, seeing people develop and advance in their own careers. She fell head over heels in love with being a grandmother when her first grandchild, LaDasia was born. They were like two peas in a pod and was blessed with four more grandchildren, Ja’Are, Andrew, Kaliah & Kailyn, who she loved dearly. She loved to take them on bus rides to see the sites of Austin. She loved to cook and fish for perch out on the lake. She was a die hard Cowboys fan (even when they were losing). Bubbles was her beloved dog for 17 years who she never went anywhere without. Her brother, Henry (Hank) Roberts, could not stand that dog. But she would just tell him “ you better leave my dog alone, boy!” In 2008, she was extremely proud to be present for her children, Ricky & Umeka’s, weddings. She rededicated her life to Christ in 2012. She is preceded in death by her father, Louis Vincent Roberts, Sr.; husband, Ricky Hargrove Sr.; brother, Louis Vincent Roberts, Jr.(Ester). She leaves to cherish her memory three children: Neitra “Mandy” White of Dallas, TX , Umeka Taylor-Perkins (Donald) of Del Valle, TX and Ricky Hargrove Jr. (Delora) of Bastrop, TX ; five grandchildren, LaDasia, Andrew, Ja’are, Kaliah, Kailyn; mother, Willie Lee Roberts; one sister, Willie Marie Hardison (Oscar); three brothers, Ronald Roberts, Lester Roberts Sr. (Carolyn), Henry Roberts and a host of nieces and nephews. She will be sincerely missed and always in her family’s thoughts.

Dear Mama We just thought we’d say We love you & goodbye We will miss you dearly But can’t promise not to cry We’ll never forget our talks Conversations on the phone How happy you were to see me Whenever I would come home You worried about us so much We worried about you too I know this is the hardest thing We’ll ever have to do Knowing you’ll always be with us Wherever on this journey we will go No need to question because We will always know I don’t know what to do Mama I never thought I’d lose you Where we’ll go from here We don’t have a clue... I hope you’ll watch over us Be our guiding light Giving us the strength we need To win this endless fight

Nana you are special Your love knows no bounds A room takes special warmth whenever you’re around You think I’m cute and talented and maybe wise But I know that’s what all grandparents see through loving eyes Every day with you is precious I’m so grateful for the time Of all the grandparents in the world I’m thankful that you’re mine
