Welcome to Summerhill
I am very much looking forward to welcoming you all in September, especially the new students in Year 9, 10 and 12 coming into Summerhill. Mr Matthews and I feel very privileged to have the role of House Parents of Summerhill, along with our two children, Amy (10 years old) and Evie (6 years old).
I have taught Geography here at school for 14 years and Mr Matthews, who has been at Kingswood since 2002, was Senior Houseparent of Middle House from 2009 – 2017, is Assistant Head Pastoral and the Designated Safeguarding Lead. The last twelve years as House Parents have been one of the most rewarding and enjoyable parts of our teaching careers so far. We absolutely love doing the job as a team and it is incredibly rewarding to see how the students mature and develop during their time in the House.
In Summerhill this year there are 96 pupils in total, of which 27 are boarders. The House aims to be a place which has a secure, supportive and friendly environment, in which the students can develop. It also aims to encourage values such as kindness, honesty, courtesy and courage as well as fostering a sense of personal responsibility and a willingness to support others.
