• Pupils are expected to behave with good sense, good manners and good will at all times. • Friendliness, helpfulness and sensitivity to others is expected of all pupils. • The House is expected to co-operate with the prefects and staff as they carry out their duties. • Pupils are expected to treat the House belongings / furniture / staff and each other with respect.

Registration / signing out at end of the day

• Pupils are expected to be punctual to registrations. • All pupils are expected to sign out at 5.30pm in the

Summerhill Office, unless there has been written consent from Parents / Guardians to leave early. Prep

• Pupils should turn up to prep at 6.25pm, ready for a prompt start at 6.30pm, in the DT centre for

Years 9 – 11 and the Dixon for Sixth Form. • Pupils work silently and without disturbing others.

Mobiles are not allowed to be used during prep. • After prep, if a pupil is unable to make registration at 8.35pm, then they need to let the member of staff duty know prior to the start of prep. Access to the House during the day

• During Quarter, lunch time and after lessons, if pupils go to the House, boarders need to ‘sign in and out’ using Boardingware and day pupils must

‘sign in and out’ in the book at the entrance of the

House. Pupils are not allowed in the House during lessons, unless they have specific permission from a member of the House Staff. • Everyone should observe the times to be back at lessons /registrations if they go back to the House over Quarter or lunch. • Food should be eaten off a plate and consumed in the kitchen. It is the responsibility of those who eat and drink, to wash up the dishes they use or put it in the dishwasher and clean the work tops. • Boarders own snacks and food are for the boarders only. • All rubbish should be placed in the recycling bins provided.

Guests

• Pupils from all Houses are welcome in the

Summerhill Common Room but they must be invited to visit by a member of the House. Their host is responsible for their good behaviour and they must be signed ‘in and out’, in the visitors book by the entrance. Each Summerhill pupil is only allowed up to one guest. • All are welcome in Summerhill and the host should introduce their guest to the member of staff on duty, on arrival. • Parents / Guardians / Family members / Staff and

Estate Staff / all visitors should be introduced to

House staff on arrival and you must sign them in the visitors book. No visitors are allowed in the communal areas or bedrooms. (Except to help with carrying luggage at the start and end of terms only). • DO NOT ALLOW unauthorised visitors into the

Parents should not be left alone in the House – you must supervise them or if you need to go to your room, inform the member of staff on duty. • A person who is not part of the Kingswood community can only enter the House with prior permission from the Senior Houseparent. House events / inter-house competitions

All members of the House are expected to support House events and competitions whenever possible, even if not participating in them directly. Leaving the campus

Any pupil, who wishes to leave the School campus, for any reason, on a weekday, must first seek permission from the Senior Houseparent. If it is post lesson 7, the student needs to also seek permission from the member of staff on duty. When leaving campus for authorised reasons during the day, pupils must sign out at the Main School Office and back in at the School Office if they return before the end of the school day. Language

The pupils are expected to behave with good sense, good manners and good will in every situation. The use of improper language is not tolerated. Mobile phone policy

There is no use of mobile phones in communal areas in the House during the school day (9.00am – 5.30pm). Obviously, if a pupil needs to contact home for any reason or there is an emergency, they can use their phones. Illness during the school day

If a pupil is ill during the school day and needs to go home, she must only do this through the Medical Centre and not phone parents directly to collect them. The Medical Centre will ring parents and inform them and let us know if your child has had to go home. Smoking or bringing alcohol into the House are considered very serious breaches of trust, and will be dealt with accordingly.

School policy on alcohol

Pupils are forbidden to possess or drink alcohol on School premises except as specified at approved school functions. This ban includes alcopops. While pupils are under the School's control, they are forbidden to visit licensed premises and to purchase alcohol. This applies to day pupils during the School day and to boarders at all times, except Sixth Form pupils who have been granted town leave at a weekend or for a special evening event. Pupils are reminded that it is a breach of the law for persons under the age of 18 to purchase alcoholic drinks.

School policy on smoking

Smoking is forbidden, both on School premises and while pupils are under the School's control (including while they are travelling to and from School). This includes using e-cigarettes and vapour pens. Pupils are also forbidden to bring smoking materials onto School premises.

Drug related matters

Any pupil found to be in possession, or found to be in the company of others in possession, of illegal drugs and substances including new psychoactive substances (NPS) faces the prospect of immediate and permanent exclusion from the School.
