A Thank you from John and Carole Verity In our recent celebrations for our golden wedding. John and I requested no presents but if friends and family wished to donate money it would be shared between the recreation room project and a church project at Hubberholme in Wharfedale, where we spend most of our holidays. We are delighted to say that thanks to the generosity of so many people a total of ÂŁ580 was shared between the two projects. Thank you also for the lovely bunch of flowers which are still beautiful after almost 3 weeks. Moira & Derick's Wedding Day. There are times when "Thank You" seems such an inadequate phrase. This is such a time. Moira and I were overwhelmed with the love, fellowship and best wishes that were bestowed on us on our Wedding Day by the congregation of Kirby Muxloe Free Church. I was so proud that a lady so well considered by her community, could do me the honour of becoming my bride, and that her Church made me feel so welcome and part of this village. So we thank you all for making our special day a "Very Special Day" Derick and Moira. If you would like to download photographs of the wedding please send a request to David Godfrey and he will send you the Google link address. david@davidgodfrey.org.uk

Change of Name Moira Richardson is now Moira McGauley so I would be grateful if anyone responsible for rotas etc could make sure my name is changed accordingly. Thanks very much, Moira McGauley

We need to collect 40 empty jam jars with lids over the next 3 weeks so if everyone could save there's and pass it on to Abi that would be great. With the visibility and adverts that went out at the fun day being a success we really need your help. There is a sign up rota in the notice board up to volunteer for Thirst. It's really easy, jobs may include helping set up and pack away, talking to youth about there weeks, Helping with crafts, playing Xbox or table tennis or pool with them and making sure they are in a safe environment. I'll be there all the time so if your ever unsure I can help. Please commit to a date, we're desperate. Thanks Abi Fincham Youth Worker

Churches Together Christian Aid Tea Party. The Tea Party this year will take place at the Free Church on Friday 10th October between 2pm – 5.30pm. All are invited to call in for a cup of tea, cake and a chat. If you would like to bake a cake or are available help during the afternoon please have a word with Sue Couling. Thank you.

Walking the Building Main Hall The Playgroup are our main users, and are right at the centre of the life of this village. A good relationship with Sarah and the other staff is so important. Bob is a regular visitor to the Playgroup, and we arrange a brief (and simple) Christmas talk for the children. Pray for the Playgroup – children and staff – especially through the Re-Creation Room building work. Pray that we may be able to build on the good relationship and forge even closer links in the future. Pilates, the Badminton Club, Table Tennis Club and the Exercise Group – there are several other users of the large Hall, and for the most part we have few connections. Pray for links with these groups, that we might be able to show that we are more than just providers of a great room.

Parties – usually children’s Birthday Parties. Again – often just a passing contact, but the way we conduct ourselves matters. Parents talk together, and our reputation within the village is often shaped by little things like this. Are we prepared to go ‘the extra mile’ in order to make that special day just a bit more memorable? Pray that we become known as people who genuinely care about the everyday lives of families around us. Bowls Group has become an important ministry, with relationships being built and people drawn more closely into the life of the Church through its people. Pray that it will continue to grow, and that those friendships will prove spiritually fruitful Summer events: Holiday at Home / Holiday Club / Social Care Fair and more. The Large Hall is an important mission tool, and for decades now we’ve been reaching out to young and old through the events we run in the Summer. Pray that great fun is translated into real growth; that good times of companionship also produce decisions for Christ. And pray for lasting results from the continuing hard work of so many people.

FRIENDS AND NEIGHBOURS THURSDAY OCTOBER 2nd - "I told them I could do it" The new session of Friends and Neighbours got off to a good start with a moving talk from Ian Burbidge from the Greenhill Community Church in Coalville.

The next meeting - on October 2nd also promises to be both interesting and inspiring. Our speaker is Pauline Wells who has recently written her autobiography. Pauline has lived an eventful and rewarding life; from her early days as a young nurse in the 1950's to her current role as an ambassador for 'Rainbows'. She has also been very active in the Scouting movement in Leicestershire and was continually encouraged by her late husband. As usual a warm invitation is extended to everyone [men as well as women] to come along on Thursday October 2nd at 7.45 p.m. to hear about the life of an very caring lady. Ann Fearn

Reflection Day The Theological Reflection Day is a training day for leaders at every level of church life on Friday 10 October at Market Harborough BC. The theme is ‘Glimpses of God – his holiness and love’. Cost for this day is £30 which includes lunch and all refreshments. Timings: 9.30am for a 10.00 start, ending at 4.00pm. Steve Holmes is a first rate theologian and a passionate disciple of Jesus. He comes with a deep knowledge of the Bible and understanding of Christian truth. This will be an inspiring and renewing day. Booking form on the vestibule table.

An evening of Hymns. Sunday 5th October 2014. At 6.30 p.m. KMFC. As part of our evening worship on 6th October, I am organising an evening of Hymns. Do you have a favorite Hymn you would like to be included? Why is that particular Hymn so special to you? We will be joined by several brass musicians whom will be providing the musical accompaniment for the evening. If you would like to choose a hymn to be included in the service, or would like to contribute with a reading or poem, etc., please have a word with me at church or give me a ring / text me on 07967147442. Alternatively you can email me at rcverity@googlemail.com. This is your opportunity to be part of one of our services and to enjoy singing those hymns that mean so much to our congregation. Rachel Verity.

Church Caretaker. The Deacons are pleased to announce that Richard Jurenko has been appointed church caretaker, and will take up the post from 29th September. Thanks, Paul.
