Annual Audit Available Online

Each year, the City completes a comprehensive annual financial report, or CAFR, which is then audited by an independent firm of certified public accountants. The City’s financial statements have been audited by Hochschild, Bloom & Company LLP. The objective of an annual audit is to determine if the financial statements of the City are fairly presented, in all material respects, in conformity with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and to express an opinion to that fact. An unmodified (“clean”) opinion was issued by the auditors for the year ended December 31, 2018. The CAFRs for the past ten years, along with other financial information, are all available on the City’s website at www.kirksvillecity.com/finance!

Pick Up After Your Pets Do you regularly carry pet waste bags with you when you walk your pet, or pets, through your neighborhood or to a local park? Here’s the City’s rule as it relates to animal waste: “the owner, or person in control, of every animal shall be responsible for the removal of any excreta deposited by his or her animal on public walks, recreation areas, the public right-of-way, or private property.” So, when you decide to take your pet out for a walk, be a responsible pet owner and pick up its waste! This sets a good example for others, and is the considerate thing to do for your neighbors. If you see someone who isn’t picking up after their pet, or pets, please let us know by calling the Police Department at 660.785.6945. For more information, contact the Police Department at 660.785.6945.
