City Council Filing Now Open Filing for City Council candidates is now open through Tuesday, January 19, 2021! The Municipal Election is Tuesday, April 6, 2021. For information on how to file, please call the City Clerk’s office during regular business hours, Monday through Friday—except for designated holidays—at 660.627.1225. There is only one City Council position on the ballot for a three-year term. To qualify, you must be 21 years of age prior to taking office; a US citizen; a resident of the City of Kirksville for one year preceding the election; and a registered voter. Anyone who has been found guilty of, or pled to, a felony does not qualify. Prior to filing, each person must complete an “Affidavit” with the Missouri Department of Revenue affirming that all state income, personal property, and real property taxes on their place of residence have been paid. For more information, contact the City Clerk’s office at 660.627.1225.

Winter Weather is Here We would like to remind you that when winter weather comes, please be prepared to shovel your public sidewalks! City ordinance requires either the tenant or owner of a property to remove snow and ice from public sidewalks within 24 hours of the end of a snow event. We see more and more people using public sidewalks for exercise, recreation, and walking to work or school. Please be considerate of your neighbors and ensure your sidewalks are clear!
