Re-elected Councilmember Chuck Long (left) is sworn in by City Clerk Wanda Cagle (right) with reelected Councilmember Rick Steele (center).
Meet Your City Council On Monday, June 8, 2020, City Council members Rick Steele and Chuck Long were sworn into office. Both were re-elected to the City Council as a result of the General Municipal Election held Tuesday, June 2, 2020. Also during the June 8 City Council meeting, Zac Burden was re-elected Mayor and Jessica Parks was elected Mayor Pro Tem. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City Council has found that broadcasting its meetings to the public via YouTube Live at www.youtube.com/kirksvillecity has been successful, receiving dozens—and in some cases hundreds—of views! Due to this response, City Council meetings will continue to be broadcast via YouTube Live, and we encourage you to become more engaged by watching these meetings online! For more information, contact Administration at 660.627.1225.

Prevent Water Backflow into Your Home Does your home have a backflow prevention device? Water is normally maintained at a significant pressure to enable water to flow in your household from the tap, shower, etc. However, if that changes, a backflow prevention device will protect your water system from contamination. You can also install a backflow prevention device for your sewer. In the event of a sewer backup, this device will allow water and other materials to escape from the cleanout rather than flow into your home. This simple device can prevent both damage to your home and the subsequent property cleanup. For more information, contact the Public Works Department at 660.627.1291.
