Progress as Promised!
Movies in the Park!
Construction season is here and we are working hard to improve our City! Please see a list of completed, ongoing, and upcoming projects below:
The Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with area businesses and organizations, presents the 2018 Movie in the Park series every Saturday evening, June 2 through August 18, 2018, at the Ray Klinginsmith Amphitheatre in Rotary Park! The first movie will be Wonder Woman, sponsored by the Kirksville Women of Today, on Saturday, June 2, 2018! Grab your lawn chairs and come out to Rotary Park for a movie in the park!
Boundary Street: Work crews completely resurfaced Boundary Street, from West Michigan to West Laharpe Streets, earlier this year. Illinois Street: City crews are currently in the process of completely rebuilding Illinois Street from Baltimore Street to Marion Street in the Downtown. This project is scheduled to be completed September 7, 2018, dependent on weather. Water Main Replacement: City crews have replaced water main on South Lewis Street and are now replacing water main on Westbury Lane and Oxford Drive. This project is scheduled to be completed June 11, 2018, dependent on weather. Culvert Replacement: The stormwater culvert on Cottage Grove Avenue, just south of the intersection with East Harrison Street, is scheduled to be replaced by August 15, 2018: before the start of the new school year! Free Dental Clinic! A free dental clinic is coming to Kirksville, August 3 through 4, 2018, at Pershing Arena on the campus of Truman State University! Clinic doors will open both days at 7:30 am. Be sure to arrive early as the clinic is first come, first serve until they reach capacity. Attendees should expect a long day. Dental services include cleanings, fillings, and extractions. They will not be providing crowns, bridges, or dentures. Additionally, childcare is not provided on site. This free dental clinic is sponsored by the Missouri Mission of Mercy: a large-scale dental clinic that provides free oral health care to patients of all ages who cannot otherwise afford care. Their work is made possible by dedicated volunteers and generous sponsors.

Fire Hydrant Testing The Fire Department will conduct their annual flow testing of City fire hydrants beginning June 1, 2018. The testing will continue throughout the month of June and will involve ensuring the hydrants function properly: flushing the hydrants, measuring their water output, and identifying and repairing any defects in the hydrants. The process may produce a temporary reddish-brown color in tap water. If you notice this change in water color, simply run your tap water until it clears. The water does not pose a safety hazard and a boil order is not necessary.
Important Dates 6/4—Council Meeting, 6:00 pm 6/5—LPRC Meeting, 12:00 pm
We also ask that the traveling public exercise caution when encountering Fire Department personnel conducting the tests, and drive slowly through any standing water.
