Mowing Season is Here!
Spring is here, and the grass started growing early this year! Most lawns across the City have already been mowed a few times, but if you haven’t gotten around to it yet, here’s the rule: it is every property owner’s responsibility to maintain their property, and that includes mowing grass. City Code requires that grass and weeds not exceed 8 inches, and anything taller than 8 inches is in violation. Additionally, don’t forget that you also need to maintain your half of the alley behind your property! To everyone who maintains their property, thank you: we appreciate your hard work! If you see a property not in compliance, please let us know by using the Citizen Service Request tool on the City website at www.kirksvillecity.com/submit-service-request. When we receive a complaint, or see code violations, we will reach out to the occupants and/or property owner. These individuals will receive a notice of violation that includes a compliance date. For more information, contact the Codes Department at 660.627.1272.
David Hall Memorial Blood Drive The 5th Annual David Hall Memorial Blood Drive will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017, from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the NEMO Fairgrounds’ Multi-Purpose Building. The event is being held in memory of David Hall, former Director of the Kirksville Regional Airport, who lost his battle with acute myeloid leukemia in April 2013. The City partners with the American Red Cross, Kirksville Lodge No. 105, A.F. & A.M., and Adair Lodge No. 366, A.F. & A.M., to hold the event. Walk-ins are welcome, or call 1.800.RED.CROSS to schedule an appointment!
