Have you considered adding a new tree to your own yard? Planting and maintaining trees on your property can provide many benefits including raising your property value, reducing cooling costs in the summer, and helping to control storm water runoff. When deciding what type of tree would be appropriate to place in your yard, be sure to consider the mature size of the tree to avoid future complications with overhead utilities. Consulting your local Missouri Department of Conservation forester before your purchase will help you select a functional and attractive tree that will thrive in Kirksville’s climate. Additionally, before you complete any digging for the planting of a new tree, be sure to utilize the Missouri One Call System by calling 1.800.DIG.RITE, or by visiting www.mo1call.com.
