Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen! Cooking is the number one cause of home fires and home fire injuries, and unattended cooking is the leading cause of fires in the kitchen. Before you serve a meal, it’s essential to serve up fire safety in the kitchen, but do you know the important steps to take long before anyone takes their first bite? Fire Prevention Week is October 4 to 10, 2020, and this year’s Fire Prevention Week theme, “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen!” works to educate everyone about the simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves, and those around them, safe in the kitchen. To learn more, and help keep you and your family safe in the kitchen, visit www.firepreventionweek.org for fire safety tips and fun activities!

City Budget Process Underway The City has begun planning for the 2021 Budget. The City’s fiscal year runs from January 1 through December 31. The budget process includes ensuring City obligations are paid, projects underway are funded, and services are provided that residents expect and the law requires, all in the midst of the recession brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 Budget is challenging, but not impossible. Throughout the budget process the City will continue to focus on our vision to be the best city to the citizens we serve, meeting their needs and expectations both today and tomorrow, with a focus on Economic Development, Quality of Life, Fiscal Responsibility, and Efficiency in Government and Protection of City-owned assets.
