at the amazing PortAventura World, where some EAS Events will take place. Additionally the 5th

edition of the European Star Award will be presented in the “México” area of PortAventura Park. We are proud that the independent and non-profit European Star Award is well established now, and as

always, it is dedicated explicitly to the European theme park industry, bringing attention to entrepreneurial courage and exceptional innovations. The winners are voted by an international team of experts in 13 categories. In each category, members of the trade jury were able to award their three personal favourites. Choices could be made from theme and water parks throughout Europe, including Russia and Turkey, with the minimum criteria of at least one operating attraction at the park. For the 2nd time now, we have split the election for the best theme parks into two categories. With the classifications of "Europe’s Best Theme Parks" (over 1 mio. annual visitors) and "Europe’s Best Amusement Parks" (less than 1 mio. annual visitors), we wanted smaller parks to also have the chance to be in the Top 10 and to be honoured for their engagement in the amusement and theme park culture, despite often having smaller budgets than the big players. The category of "Europe's Best Family Parks" however remains unaffected.

We are also pleased to congratulate all Top 10 parks, and we wish all visitors to the Euro Attractions Show a wonderful time in Barcelona, and that they obtain many inspirations for future attractions which perhaps will become a European Star very soon!

2009 is one of the most unusual rides ever –

and one of the most intensive. This ride that at first glance looks like a "Propeller" from various manufacturers, is actually a 37 metres high construction on which ride guests can involve themselves in the ride sequence by way of a joystick – and in the process reach a fully 5.2 g at up to 100 kilometres per hour. The oriental theming is new as of this year.

popularity at many theme parks around the world. However the 2007 erected version at Phantasialand gives a great and exciting ride feeling to all the senses, particularly due to its intensive theming: Water and fire effects, and a setting that half encircles the ride are simply impressive.
