SCULPTURE The following sculptural pieces were created as a result of a series of wax Experiments in A-level Art. By successfully creating a water dripping effect when repeatedly pouring wax onto cone-shaped acetate, I decided to develop this concept further. I used items that associate with my childhood and combined them with wax creating the illusion of ‘pouring liquid’. The result – a series of abstract and playful sculptures that revitalize my childhood.

01

SCULPTURE & COLLAGE

I decided to create a sculptural piece in response to ’bath - time’ memories I had as a child. I took photos in the initial stage of demolition during the renovation of my family home bathroom and chose to combine images, with photos from my childhood, within a collage. Further to the successful collage I decided to develop the concept by creating a 3D piece where an old tap from the same bathroom was used.

02

INSTALLATION: ‘DRAINED VITALITY’ In response to Pipilotti Rist’s Installations and Tetsumi Kudo’s mixed media sculptural pieces (as seen at the Louisianna Museum of Modern Art in Denmark) I created a bathtub installation exhibition piece involving live moss and flowers preserved in wax.

REDACTION

In A-level Art I was given the task to produce a series of experimental pieces in response to the term ‘Redaction’ which is the process of obscuring or censoring. As a part of this task I experimented with photos taken from my trip to Copenhagen in July of 2020 and censoring the faces of people in the photo. This later inspired me to explore the concept of ‘Identity’. As an outcome I’ve produced abstract photographic pieces of a small scale 3D architecture model.

SCREEN PRINTING

Visiting historic buildings such as Hillerod castle and seeing modern buildings such as Axel Towers in Denmark, I was inspired to experiment with the images I took during my trip through screen printing. This allowed me to explore a range of processes such as collaging prints and fading.

TRINITY BUOY WHARF CONTAINER BUILDING Location: Trinity Buoy Wharf Container City

3D Model

Developed Drawings in response to 3D Model During a visit to Trinity Buoy Wharf, I instantly became fascinated by its container buildings, ’Container City’ in particular. I explored this building further in collage then through drawing. Its ‘blocky’ structural form inspired me to create a quick, experimental 3D model using staples.

ARCHITECTURAL RESEARCH DRAWINGS Location: Thames Barrier Park – Royal Docks, London For my third architecture project I had to design a public space. In the research stage of the project I explored an existing public space ‘Thames Barrier Park’ This allowed me to produce a range of drawings that helped me understand the functions and design elements of the space.

ELEVATED WALKWAY RESEARCH DRAWINGS Location: Highline, New York

As a part of a task to design an elevated walkway, I researching the Highline New York as an example of an existing elevated walkway that successfully incorporates nature. This also allowed me to practice and develop skills in drawing elevations,

ELEVATED WALKWAY DIGITAL MODEL

This final design of an elevated walkway is an outcome of my research on page 8. In this design the primary focus was to incorporate nature through architecture and provide public seating.

ARCHITECTURE MODELLING WC

Outdoor Eating

Food counter service

Kitchen prep & Food storage space Ground floor eating space (movable furniture – adaptable space to cater for other evening events)

Task – to design a café. Process – Simple paper and card folding developed and given function through drawing. Outcome – A 3D tactile architecture model.

ARCHITECTURE BUILDINGS: DRAWING Museum of Military History, Germany My favorite architecture themes – Deconstructivism & Biophilic Architecture.

The Hive, Singapore

Here I have explored two buildings that explore the two different concepts through sketches that inform the structure and main design elements.

BUILDING RECONFIGURATION: DESIGNING A FACADE Building Location: Angel Way, Romford

Challenge – Derelict construction with no exterior frame. Resolution – Design a façade that adds interest and function to the building. Inspired by the Basque Health Department in Spain, the design of the facade follows a geometric form which is explored further through sketching, 3D modelling and as a final design In Sketch-Up.

BUILDING EXTENSION DESIGN MODEL 1

The final design of derelict building extension – 3D modelling combined with images to create a collage and a Sketch-up model.

MODEL 2

MODEL 3

As a part of reconfiguring a derelict construction, there was a requirement to design an extension to the existing building. Challenge – Not to over-obscure the green landscape the extension would be built upon. Process – 3D cardboard modelling. Resolution – Extend building underground and incorporate nature throughout the design.

THEME : EVERYDAY JOURNEY This piece is an observational drawing of me taking my earphone out of my coat pocket, which was drawn using charcoal and oil pastel. This piece consists of a smaller drawn piece which is a quick personal response to music in the form of drawing using charcoal.

20 minutes

This piece is a perspective drawing of my college. The building on the right is where the art studio is situated. To me it represents a space packed with diversity and creativity where ideas are brought to life. This piece was drawn with fine liner and markers.

This was a quick observational sketch of a street during my walk home from college in the evening. The central focal point is the streetlight which acts as a source of guidance through the darkness. The piece was drawn in fine liner. This piece is one of a series of drawings of my kitchen. It is incomplete in terms of its colour due to the hazy feeling of an early morning, yet still feels cozy with the silhouette of my mum, the soothing smell of a coffee aroma and the familiarity of its perspective. This piece was drawn with pencil and watercolour.

This time-based piece consisting of a range of different media was created to represent my everyday journey to college. The pieces on the left are timed drawings that are featured within the video each with their own description.
