CONTENTS & CREDITS HONG KONG
Hello! I am a young architectural designer now applying for master of architecture, previously graduated with first class honours at University of Lincoln (UoL) in Hong Kong. During my study, I am very fortunate to be part of the overseas exchange programme and went to Finland’s Aalto University for 6 months, allowing me to experience different cultures, work style and design methodology. This experiences changes the way I viewed at architecture and further develop my passion for architecture and design. After graduation, I worked at Aedas, a global architecture design firm, for a year followed by another year of working experience in a local architecture design firm ALKF.

Year 3 Project Village Reverie
1975
Village Reverie “Village Reverie” is a project that aimed to promote the diminishing fishing culture to the public, it constructs an experience journey that integrates to the existing stilt houses, opening up spaces that haven’t been explored before. The experiencing journey will introduce fishing culture in both tangible and intangible ways, providing interaction with local fishermen, learning their stories and the culture. A newly built community center nearby is aimed to provide better communal facilities and spaces for the local Ma Wan Chung villagers as well as the residents living in the Yat Tung Estate. Communal spaces such as a market space will be positioned at the seafront, creating opportunities for locals to sell handicraft products, seafood products as well as providing a space for a night market to operate. Other communal facilities including leisure spaces, lecture rooms, a meeting room, and a study room will be positioned on the first floor of the existing stilt houses, connecting the past and present.

During the 1980s development of Tung Chung, Ma Wan Chung slowly becomes a place to be forgotten, covered by the tall facades of Tung Chung public and private housing estates. It also faced chances of being reclaimed during the planning of the Hong Kong– Zhuhai–Macau Bridge.

Water Memorial Water is being trapped by concrete and tubes near our living environments. People miss the opportunity to interact with it. The importance of water is being forgotten and people took it for granted to use. Water memorial will have sequences of water spaces, forms, and motion. It creates spatial experiences and interaction with the visitors, conveys the message of the importance of water and how wonderful water is.
An abstract painting named Number 107, by Ad Reinhardt. The painting has a depth of field, creating an illusion of space. The painting inspired me to further explore the visual perception of space and the tangibility of space. Further 3D model studies were done about intangible spaces caused by a forced perspective illusion.

Water Entrance
Room of Mist
The water entrance will start by seeing a mysterious cube in the middle of the room, water falling on top of it and create a 3-side barrier and barely seeing the entrance inside. Visitors have to walk around to the only side without water to continue the journey. This is the brightest room to reduce anxiety from visitors and continue the journey.
Room of Silence Room of Silence is the second brightest space, A circular hole at the center where water drops fall and forming a circular water curtain, with sunlight above lighting up the curtain, making it a focal point in a dark environment. A corten pathway in middle allows visitors to step into the water curtain, create an experience of being engulfed by water and light. The room is filled with water drop sounds in the space and make echo sounds, allow visitors to hear the voice of water.
10
Room of Mist is the darkest space in the entire journey. Light columns are shining into the mist via optical fibers and light chambers collecting sunlight from the ground surface. Mist is produced by reservoir water entering ultrasonic water diffusers at the bottom of each light columns, the mist then diffuses the light and make the floor having enough brightness to walk across. When there isn’t enough water in the reservoir, like in the autumn and winter seasons, the mist will be disabled.
Waterfall Exit The waterfall exit will be the end of the entire journey, concrete walls are placed at the exit and create a captured scenery of waterfall and nature. Visitors can see the water transformed from tangible into intangible droplets and mist. Water motion is also the largest among other spaces, creating an epic finale environment for the journey.

Overseas Exchange Project Pasila Spiral
Pasila Spiral “Pasila Spiral” is a project that HOAS, a student hostel management company in Finland Helsinki, invited students in the Aalto University Master of Architecture Programme to think of innovative ways and design a student hostel located in the middle of the Keski Pasila redevelopment site. The concept is to build a continuous ramp connecting multiple levels, allowing students to explore around the hostel without disconnecting by a change of level. Inbetween floors have multi-level voids improving the interactive moments between students. Meanwhile, cost and time cutting is also an important aspect for student hostel, in which the student modules can be modular made and transport to the site, cutting construction time and costs.
I NEED HELP BUT I DON’T KNOW WHO TO ASK.
? Student hostels commonly lack connectivity and social spaces, which students cramped into their living rooms for social events. Meanwhile, the living space occupancy rate is relatively low.
?
One topic to explore in this studio is to bring in the semi-public spaces in between apartments which act as a buffer to separate the public and private room spaces while increasing the relationship and interaction between students.

THE Pavilion Located on the West Kowloon waterfront promenade, THE Pavilion is a place that allows visitors to enjoy the amazing waterfront view with multi-level platforms. The platform is a composition of simple horizontal planes and vertical supporting steel columns, minimizing the structural obstruction to the view and forming multiple “T”, “H” and “E” shapes. Communal double-height space is located middle of the pavilion, allowing larger events and user groups to have shelter space.

The Cloud
At the exhibition hall, large steps provides a rich pedestrian experience for the park, and it can also be used as an outdoor platform for different activities. Integrated with functions and aesthetics, the multi-dimensional circulation gives the theme exhibition hall the function of being a central identity for the development.
“The Cloud is regarded as the front door of the west entrance of the development, being the focal point of sight. It provides a vibrant event space with the help of an elegant canopy design.
