Welcome to Issue 12

Dear Valued Partners, Welcome to issue 12 of CAMEA Connect. As we have reached the end of a turbulent year, I would like to take a moment to look back. During the recently closed fiscal year, our distributors saw economic problems, monetary devaluations, bomb attacks, war, kidnappings and other distressing issues in the CAMEA area. But besides all of these issues our distributors believed in their business and worked hard to meet targets. We as CAMEA team will also be here in our new financial year to support your business and to overcome these hefty obstacles together with you. Together we can do it! Exciting new products have been recently launched by Konica Minolta and during the Production Printing Launch event in Langenhagen; our distributors had a chance to experience the high quality of these new products with their own eyes. The reactions to the new products are very positive. Let’s build on this and start the new financial year with a positive mindset and look at it as a new beginning. Wishing you a successful year in Business! Yours, Mark Oldfield Senior Manager CAMEA International Sales Division (ISD) Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe

INTERVIEW

Hardware Highlights - bizhub C227/C287 by David Fava - Business Development Expert

Greetings to you all, CAMEA Partners, and welcome to the new financial year. I wish each one of you, a year filled with nothing but success. In the first week of December 2015, we launched the sales of the new bizhub C227 and C287. For our CAMEA Market, these 2 models come as replacement models of the predecessors; bizhub C221 and C281. A Strategic Move Being offered at roughly the same price as the predecessor models, the new Helios range comes with an extra punch. For the same price range, the C227 and C287 have been fitted with our Premium Class Technology. This translates to the following added benefits as compared to the Zeus 5; • bizhub Extended Solution Technology (bEST)!

• OpenAPI 4.0! (which means that these support the implementation of our software solutions) • IWS 2.0 and WebBrowser! • standard NFC embedded mobile touch area!

• bizhub Remote access! Bizhub C227 and C287 are equipped with ‘Premium+ MFP’ solution platform and the latest mobile connectivity – 100% same firmware as bizhub C368 series. In contrast to their predecessors, they will help us keep a wide MIF of Premium product in the market while still offering competitive pricing. The reason for keeping the product price the same as the predecessor model was to create product flexibility when competing with price competitive rivals (RICOH, Canon, Samsung) – strategic move. As always, in case of any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. I’d also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that every datasheet of the current line-up is available on InfoPortal. Until the next one – take care!

STAFF PROFILE

Carolin Kalk - Assistant Team CAMEA

For this issue we spoke to Carolin Kalk - Assistant Team CAMEA, and we tried to get to know Carolin a bit more. Could you tell me a bit about yourself? I am a very open and honest person – in my private life as well as in a work environment. What you see is what you get – I have no energy to be fake, people I don’t like I simply avoid as much as possible. Try to find things you are passionate about – in your job as well as in your private life – and simply enjoy life, that’s my philosophy. What is your background? I have a very classic commercial background. Finished school, started my first school-based apprenticeship as a business assistant in foreign languages and correspondence, then did a second apprenticeship as a Merchant for wholesale and export. I have been working ever since, also did some work and travel in Australia and after my return did a lot of additional trainings and certificates such as “Chamber of Commerce Instructor Certification”, “Certified Management Assistant” and so on. Was there a person in your career who really made a difference? The person who had the most influence on my working life was my first boss. I started my second apprenticeship in a company that produced pipeline and welding equipment when I was 19. My boss

was quite “old school” – he was already near his sixties, very strict and also very choleric. To cross him when he had a bad day – not a good idea. Anyway, everybody who worked for him had to adapt to a very precise way of working – no mistakes were allowed or tolerated – and that’s certainly something that helped me very much and is helping me until today. Also, he was quite a character – he was the first one to start in the morning and in the evening he was the last to leave. He worked on Saturdays and Sundays and was just passionate about his whole business and the products he had invented and developed. He made us all feel very proud to work for this company which was a great feeling. Although many did not like him due to his personality, I always admired him for his hard work and his dedication. He died a few years ago during a business trip - doing what he loved most. Can you describe a typical day or

week in your position? Best part of my job is that it is not predictable. There is not one week that is like the other – and that’s what I really enjoy. What is your personal mission statement? “Live your dreams, not dream your life”, has been my motto since many years now. I have learned that whenever I really want something I can get it – just takes some effort and hard work to get there. What are you most proud of? I am most proud of my horse and her progress during the last years. When I got her about 10 years ago she was in a very bad condition – mentally and physically. I rescued her from being a schoolhorse, in her life she had experienced a lot of cruelty, did not trust humans at all anymore and was barely rideable. So I had to gain her trust and also teach her a lot of basics in behavior again. Today,

for the films. Also the actors have been chosen very adequate. And the idea behind the story is actually very frightening as it might become reality at any time… What would you do if you won the lottery?

she is my best friend and the most gentle and loveable horse you can imagine. A “life insurance” under all circumstances, even kids can ride her now. She has changed so much that people that knew her from the past don’t even recognize her anymore and if they do they are truly amazed about her change. What do you like to do most in your spare time? Spend time with my horse, my family and friends and my gerbils :-) In general, I love to be outside to explore nature. I also go to the gym and in summer I love swimming. Reading books, cooking and watching all sorts of English TV series are also under my favorite leisure time activities What are your lifelong dreams? To never grow “old” – I love the story of Peter Pan who simply refuses to grow-up. I have accepted that it is necessary to grow-up – but I refuse to ever grow “old”. I can still get excited about very simple things just as kids can and I also never stopped asking questions such as “why does it have to be this way” and hopefully this will keep me young up to a very high age.

Tell me one thing about yourself you wouldn’t want me to know. Hah – what’s the point in telling then? There’s no right or wrong answer, but if you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be? Definitely somewhere much further south – as long as I don’t have to work anymore :-)! I love Australia and the Cook Islands – definitely my favorite place on earth. But I also love France as we used to go there every summer when I was a kid. Best food in the world is served in France (followed by Italy). In general I love traveling, so there might be lots of beautiful countries and places that I don’t even know yet.

Spend most of the money for charity – animal shelters and organizations such as WWF, Greenpeace, World Vision, etc. . I would give money to my family and friends and keep some for traveling. I never wanted a house – I always preferred to be independent, being able to travel wherever I want to and settle down in different places for a while. I might buy a coconut plantation on the Cook Islands though – there you are considered to be rich if you have coconut trees – you can build a house, eat and drink, make fire, get sun blocker, make clothing and do lot’s of other stuff just with these simple plants. I would then donate the money out of the plantation to educational projects on the islands – education is a major problem there as a lot of the islands are so small that the children don’t get the chance to visit a real school. Who is/are your hero(es)? Heroes come in all shapes – and I have met a lot of them. Too many stories to tell though :-) If you could choose one super hero power, what would it be and why? I guess I would love to have the ability to make everybody happy – with only happy people on earth there’s not much to fight over…

What’s the last book you read? The 100 series by Kass Morgan What magazine(s) do you subscribe to? Horse Riding magazines :-) What’s the best movie you’ve seen in the last year? Tributes of Panem – love the films, I read the books of course and think they have adapted the story perfectly

In the next issue of CAMEA Connect we will be speaking to Mark Oldfield - Senior Manager CAMEA

ME Sales Training Event #2

by David Fava - Business Development Expert

Nearing the end of our Financial Year, we held our second run of Regional Sales Training for the ME Distributors for the Office Printing Business. This was a lead up to our first regional sales training event which was held in Lebanon in May 2015. This time around we held the event at the neighboring Jordan in the capital of Amman. The event was hosted in collaboration with our local partners TESCO, at the Landmark Amman Hotel over a period of 2 days. The main speakers for the training were Mr. David Fava from BEU CAMEA Office

and Mr. Dirk Wetzel from Dirk Wetzel MFP Consult. Since the training was a build-up on the previous one, the Konica Minolta team tried to reap some results from what was taught in the first training – and indeed they did! Remember, the regional sales training is set up in order to push and train the participants in a Consultative Selling Approach – and since the first training up until today, we had some participants that worked really hard to try and adopt to this new selling methodology – keeping in mind that our business is slowly shifting from a simple box moving industry to being a whole service provider. These participants are namely the team from Copytech, our Partners from Lebanon and also the local team TESCO. Both team representatives

shared some of their success stories at the event and presented the methods they used in trying to change the sales force mentality. Copytech have immersed themselves fully in the software business now and are continuously active on the SafeQ front and also in the OPS Business. On the second day the group discussed and gave feedback on various topics including consultative techniques which they think are best fit in their countries. At the end, David reviewed the Office Roadmap highlighting the many new additions to the existing line-up with focus on the replacement of the bizhub 215 – the bizhub 226 which is the most popular product in the ME market.

Konica Minolta’s MFP bizhub C368 and bizhub 287 win BLI Winter Pick Award 2016 The Buyers Laboratory LLC (BLI) has bestowed upon Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe (Konica Minolta) the BLI Winter Pick Award 2016 for its A3 multifunctional peripherals printer (MFP) bizhub C368 and bizhub 287. The MFPs stand out for diversity and durability and were honoured for their “productivity”, “customisable drivers” and printing via “mobile devices”. As independent company evaluating office document equipment and applications, BLI gives its Pick Awards twice a year for outstanding products and solutions. As one of the leading providers for multifunctional printing, Konica Minolta demonstrates its expertise with the bizhub C368 (outstanding 31to 40-ppm A3 colour MFP) and bizhub 287 (outstanding 21- to 30-ppm A3 monochrome MFP). “We are constantly aiming for product improvements with state of the art features”, said Caroline Klenke, product manager at Konica Minolta. “Receiving the BLI Pick awards for two of our newest products proves that we are on the right track. With seamless integration, increased productivity and reduced costs, we provide what our customers

are looking for.” For the BLI, the multifunctional peripherals printers support users in daily business: “The Konica Minolta bizhub C368 and bizhub 287 let users work the way they want to, with customisable drivers and a choice of three different control panel interfaces based on user preference”, said BLI Editor George Mikolay. Furthermore, the bizhub C368 and bizhub 287 are easy to handle. The BLI especially commended: “The control

panels can also be fully customised to allow users to access easily the MFP tools and workflows they use most. Additionally, users can print to the MFPs from their mobile devices”, explains George Mikolay. ”When you consider their excellent overall reliability, along with above-average productivity when printing multiple file types, fast first-print times from daytime sleep and small colour scan file sizes, you’re looking at devices with the flexibility to meet the needs of any work style. They can easily stand up to the rigours experienced in any busy office environment you can name.” With the Pick Awards, the BLI bestows awards on a twice yearly basis (summer and winter) for hardware and software products with the most outstanding performance. Qualifying as Pick contenders are those products that withstand the unique BLI durability test, earn BLI’s “Recommended” or “Highly Recommended” seal, a BLI Certificate of Reliability and are the best performers among their competitors. For more than 50 years, buyers and IT directors have trusted the BLI Pick to guide them best in their acquisition decisions.
