Welcome to Issue 14
Dear Valued Partners, Thank you all for attending and participating in a very successful Annual Distributor Meeting in Berlin. We as a team felt the intense connection that we have with our distributors more than ever. Successful meetings and plans have come out of the distributor meeting and it will be great to see these all grow and flourish in to new successful projects and many sales! This was also our last Annual Distributor Meeting, as from next year on the meeting will receive a new name; the Konica Minolta – CAMEA Annual Management Meeting. We hope you can appreciate the change of name, as more high level involvement is required from our distributors but also from Konica Minolta. We felt we had to reflect this in the name of the event. As we are approaching the end of Q2 we know that there is a lot to be done in the remaining 6 months of the current financial year to achieve sales plans and generate the required growth. I hope you can pass on the invigoration you took home from Berlin and put your team and our team to work and achieve the set goals for this financial year. Should you have any further queries regarding any of the issues discussed during the distributor meeting please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours,
Mark Oldfield Senior Manager CAMEA International Sales Division (ISD) Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe

And the intuitive control panel can be customised with up to 25 shortcut keys for commonly programmed jobs”, explains George Mikolay. BLI awards outstanding products and solutions in office segment With the Summer and Winter Pick Awards, the BLI recognises outstanding hardware and software products twice a year.

Clayton Passmore - Business Development Specialist
Clayton Passmore joined the South African office just over a year ago. But what make Clayton tick...Let’s find out a little more about the man behind Clayton Passmore. Could you tell me a bit about yourself? My name is Clayton Passmore; I was born in Johannesburg on the 29th September 1984. I am somewhat of a self-proclaimed athlete and have competed in the Two Oceans Marathon (56kms), Spain Marathon (42kms) as well as the Comrades Marathon (89.9kms) What is your background? Straight after leaving school I started graphic design as it was a passion of mine; I finished that course and wanted to pursue a career in forensics
which lead me to a BA Psychology Degree which I completed in 2007. I then worked for the past 9.5 years in Software development for a company in South Africa who sold software solutions to the Mining Sector. Where would you like to be in your career in five years time? I would like to say that the sky is the limit, I would like to work myself up to Business Support Manager for the South African Office. Was there a person in your career who really made a difference? Coming from a local company who had only 15 staff members I cannot say that there was one single person who made a difference in my career. Rather a
collective of people who I could learn from and grow my skill sets Can you describe a typical day or week in your position? Where do I begin! A typical day in my BDS position would start with the loads of emails I get from distributors looking for help with a MFP or Application Solution. After answering the first lot of emails I focus my attention to learning anything and everything I can about the Konica Minolta MFP range as well as the software solutions that I am promoting to our regions. What is your personal mission statement? I live by this saying: “If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life” - I find this saying very true, in that if you enjoy your job it becomes a passion and not work. What are you most proud of? What I am most proud of in my career is how far I have come since
STAFF PROFILE 06/07

I don’t think there is a better feeling than being free in the sky. I did a static line sky dive and absolutely loved the thrill and experience of gliding up in the air.

What are your lifelong dreams? I certainly aspire to make the next day better than the first.
What’s the best movie you’ve seen in the last year? Well there wasn’t one movie that stood out for me, but I would have to say staying true to the franchise, “Furious 7” was really good.
Tell me one thing about yourself you wouldn’t want me to know. Hmmmm … I am pretty good at wiggling my ears (and no not with my hands) There’s no right or wrong answer, but if you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be? I would have to say New York! I feel that New York matches my

What would you do if you won the lottery? I have a very soft spot in my heart for elderly people, orphans and animals. Depending how big the win is, I would love to contribute more than just time to elderly organizations, orphanages and animal rescue shelters.

Berlin Update: Distributor Handbook - Corporate Branding by Diana Lavender - Marketing Manager CAMEA
We all have been there before...How do I deal with this? How are you supposed to incorporate the logo correctly? This looks good! Lets do it like this! Oh no... I’m sure many of you have asked yourself the question more then once; How do you incorporate the Konica Minolta logo correctly within our corporate branding? Finallly we have the answer. During the last Distributor Meeting in Berlin we handed out to all attending Distributors the Distributor Handbook - Corporate Branding. This is a guideline on how to incorporate the Konica Minolta brand into your own corporate branding. In the handbook you will find some major changes. First major change is that the Konica Minolta logo as we all know (and love) not can be used anymore by our distributors. To replace this we now have a “Certified Partner” logo for all distributors with a current and relevant distributor agreement and this logo needs to be incorporated in all communications. (email signature, business card, letterhead etc.) The “standard” Konica Minolta logo is part of the Konica Minolta corporate identiy and can only be used after approval has been given. For those who have a dedicated dealer channel in the CAMEA region we now also have the “Authorized Dealer” logo available. This again is the only logo that can be used by the Dealer, unless permission has been granted. Social Media Social media sites prove to be particularly difficult. Many times we find a (for example) Konica
Minolta site in our area that is totally unrelated to Konica Minolta, but simply a company or person that “loves” the Konica Minolta brand. Unfortunatley they are breaking the law, by impersonating something or someone they are not. This could also harm your local business as when people search in your area they might find them and not you. It is crucial that we stop this. There are many examples out there, good and (very) bad, but it’s time to leave that behind and concentrate on building the right corporate branding for your
Company and for Konica Minolta together. This handbook will assist you with this. We fully understand that the change process will take some time and will provoke many questions. In oder to support this, Lync sessions will be organised to answer any questions that might have arrisen. Invitations will be send out shortly. Should you have any queries in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Email: diana.lavender@konicaminolta.eu

One of the other projects presented during the Berlin Annual Distributor Meeting was the “CAMEA Showroom Project”. In order to support the implementation of the new Distributor Handbook the CAMEA Showrrom Project was launched at the beginning of this financial year. To show the support and bring an uniformity in the CAMEA Area. For this, help was sought with the development of a modualr system that could hold all the product ranges of Konica Minolta. The help was found in Austria and together with Papertown we develop the Showroom Project to what you have

The end result is a modular presentation wall. Multifunctional - On the front we can display an A4 and A3 MFP together with applications and video’s. There is a space to incorporate an IPad. On the back of the wall we can position a production printing machine. The wall is sustainable as it is fully recyclable as it is completley made from cardboard. The weight of the wall is low and this results is lower transport costs and carbon footprint.
The wall’s look and feel is uniform with the new corporate branding from Konica Minolta and will help to strengthen the brand awareness in the CAMEA region. The wall is suitable for Distributor showrooms and/ or their Dealers. The presentation wall is “Easy” to assemble and this makes a great team building event as it will take some time. The wall will be offered in a limited edition to the distributors. All will be informed of the final allocation. Delivery time 10 - 12 weeks.
