PUBLISHER
Launched in 2017, The KNOW Book + Tribe began as a way to bring more attention to dynamic women doing remarkable things in the Phoenix metro. We knew there were an outstanding number of women impacting the community and making big strides in their industries. Our goal was to get those women out from behind their computer screens and into the public eye. Thus, we created the KNOW Book, a carefully curated publication that would feature vision-led women in a glamorous and authentic style. As the momentum grew and we recognized the need for more, we launched our Tribe around the women featured in our KNOW Book. Our mix & mingles soon ensued and we witnessed incredible things happening. We saw our women doing business with each other, creating friendships, supporting each other, collaborating on projects together and so much more. What started as a fun project to spotlight women, has turned into a full-blown movement. The KNOW Book + Tribe has expanded beyond its birthplace of Phoenix, Arizona; its aim is to launch in every major city across the United States and Canada.

As Florida’s most densely populated county, Pinellas is renown for the country’s best beaches. Recognized for warm weather, the most consecutive days of sunshine, and a vibrant art scene, the St. Petersburg - Clearwater metro area is also home to some of the most successful women to KNOW.
With stories more beautiful than Gulf waters lapping at the white sandy shores of Clearwater Beach, success and triumph that shines brighter than the most perfect day in the Sunshine City, and local brands and businesses that parallel the vivaciousness of the rich culture in the area, this KNOW Book + Tribe proves female empowerment is another reason why St. Pete | Clearwater is a thriving area to KNOW.
As the KNOW St. Pete | Clearwater ambassadors, the two of us are dedicated to celebrating and honoring women; and growing the empowerment movement in the Bay area and beyond. It has been our honor to connect with every woman in the pages of this Book. They are all such a gift to one another, and each one truly exemplifies the mission of the KNOW Book + Tribe.
To our Tribe: thank you for your energy, openness, and commitment in the creation of KNOW St. Pete | Clearwater. You are the trailblazers, the legacy…and together, we will LIFT + RISE!

CHIRSTY STROSS YOUFIT | BAE If being an entrepreneur, attorney, wife, and mother of small children has taught Christy Stross anything, it is how to maximize her time by outsourcing what she can. As the part of masterminds behind 120 fitness club chain across 15 states, Christy struggled to find salons offering both hair and makeup services to help transform her jet-lagged self into the put-together persona she strove to project. This void in the industry along with her empathy for the maxed-out “everywoman” inspired her to team up with her partners to launch BAE Beauty Bar: an innovative hair and makeup “escape” and beauty sanctuary that invites its BAEs to hand over their primping to the professionals. While the drybar concept might read familiar, BAE’s makeup team is not. They specialize in any look from firstdate-fresh to red-carpet-ready. Beauty memberships are designed to show BAEs that pampered doesn’t have to be pretentious, and “just because” is a legit reason to treat yourself to a smokey eye.

BEAUTY KATIE CHAROS // BLOND STUDIO Katie started in the hair industry at the age of 15 sweeping up hair. Licensed at 18, she fell in love with the transformative power of hair extensions. She loved to see clients eyes light up with the confidence fuller longer hair gave them. While searching for a natural-looking healthy hair extension method, she stumbled upon a popular west coast method. After 10 years behind the chair she became the first hairstylist in the
Tampa Bay area to become certified in Natural Beaded Rows Extensions (NBR)- the original hand tied extension method. With this groundbreaking new technique, she decided to grow a team of dedicated NBR stylists and Blond Studio was born. Katie travels across the country several times a year to bring back the latest hair trends. Blond has an upbeat collaborative atmosphere with a commitment to keeping hair healthy while their clients’ hair is enhanced with extensions.

Founder Alin Leslie has always had a passion for artistic and creative hair styling. Shortly after her 1993 graduation from The College of Hair Design Cosmetology School in Lincoln NE, she followed her dream to New York City where she began creating editorial and club-inspired looks with synthetic and human hair. Smitten and mesmerized by the volume and texture that dreadlocks and hair extensions created in her styles, she began specializing in these methods and services. Dollylocks was born in 1997 with an overwhelming request for hair pieces, extensions, braids, and dreadlock additions. In 2002, Alin relocated herself and her business to Saint Petersburg opening the very first Dollylocks Salon. Over the past 20 years Alin has worked diligently, proudly perfecting Dollylocks methods and techniques for dreadlock creation, implementation and development, including the revolutionary Dollylocks Professional Organic Dreadlocking System.™ Launched in 2011, the Dollylocks Professional Organic Dreadlock Product Line is the only 100% natural and organic product line specifically designed for Dreadlocks. RACHEL KORMAN MANE STAY HAIR STUDIO
Rachel Korman struggled to find a mentor since her first day in the industry back in September of 2006. With every salon she hung her hat, including a few of the top in the industry, she would quickly realize their systems were not set up for people like her, a young stylist eager to connect on a deeper level with her clients while delivering a world class result. These experiences led to heartbreak and a yearning for change in the industry. But what was first a source of immense frustration became a gift for Rachel. She felt pulled by a force telling her to create what she always wished she had found and make it sustainable. She wants to answer every question and solve every problem in order to do it better. To change the way it has always been done. To include those creative souls who struggle to believe in themselves. To find the ones who work from their hearts. To deeply care and give without expectation. To help them discover their worth and then charge their worth. To ultimately unlock the truth of what makes that relationship between mentor and mentee incredibly vital. With this mission, the Mane Stay team tirelessly pursues education in order to uncover what others consider “trade secrets and bring them home to deliver the best possible service they can. The Mane Stay team absolutely loves the connection they foster with each client who walks in. They invite those who are searching for a true partnership and collaboration. They discourage those looking for the old school ways of doing things. They are young, synergistic, full of energy and here to breathe life into the St. Petersburg hair scene by connecting with their clients on a more profound level than ever before.

Real Relationships. Real Results. More than a catchy business tagline, this is the guiding principle that Leah Herzwurm has built a fastgrowing business with as a Keller Williams agent in St. Petersburg. This Georgia-transplant found her calling in connecting with families across Pinellas to learn their stories, be a part of their new adventures, and be sure that every one of them found their home-sweet-home. Through real estate, Leah discovered a work ethic that she recognized from her parents who made multiple sacrifices to raise their children. They became her “why,” and with this passion, Leah worked tirelessly in her role to send her mother and father on a dream vacation. In her first year of business, she helped 24 families. In her second year, 37 more. She was named Rookie of the Year in 2017, Tampa Bay’s Rising Star (Real Producers Publication), and Top 5 Agent (of 400+ agents) with Keller Williams. She even sent her parents to Alaska. But, most importantly, her clients have become family. Those “real relationships” have been her truest measure of success.

She taught herself fashion design and manufacturing, and married that knowledge with her business background to launch Soulgani. The idea to create Soulgani was born during a hike in Peru. Christina saw the most beautiful rock on top of a mountain, snapped a picture of it, and thought to incorporate it into her first leggings. She pulls inspiration from nature with each collection. To make it full circle, Soulgani gives a portion of every sale back to a charity associated with the source of its design inspiration. Soulgani’s mission is to “Do Good. Be Good.” PHOTO CREDIT: CHRISTINA JONES PHOTOGRAPHY

ASHLEY HAYWOOD EMBREW Ashley Haywood has always had a need for efficiency. Ten years ago, as she was drinking her daily tea, she realized she wanted to eliminate the step of adding sweetener to her mug so she could easily enjoy a perfect cup of tea anywhere. So, she did what anyone would do and searched for a sweetened tea bag to buy on the Internet. The problem was... nothing existed. After several years of waiting for someone else to make one, Ashley created Embrew— the first company to make a high-quality, ethically-sourced, sweetened tea bag that produces the perfect cup of lightly sweetened tea in a single step. Embrew blends teas like Creamy Honey Oolong, Bourbon Smoked White and Amber Black Maple with unique craft sweeteners for an unforgettable and ultra-convenient tea experience. NANCY CALABRESE FENWAY HOTEL
Take an abandoned building and bring it back to life? Yes, please! Fenway Hotel, once known as the Grand Lady of Dunedin, was THE place to spend the season back in the 30’s and 40’s. Artists, explorers, sports stars, and writers all spent time adding to the composition that was Fenway. Celebrated for its Mediterranean architecture and fabulous location overlooking the sound, Fenway was saved time and again as it transformed from hotel to college to university. But this timeless building would fall into disrepair in the 2000’s and would need TLC to once again fill the halls with jazz tunes that played here years ago.
“We reopened the Fenway in the fall of 2018,” said Nancy Calabrese, director of sales of the hotel. “Filling the Fenway with weddings, social events, musical programming and activities, all while delighting our guests in vintage touches and long-forgotten pastimes has been a dream come true!”

SANDY SEMBLER INTENTIONAL RELATIONSHIP COACH Another failed relationship and an intense 3-hour intervention led Sandy Sembler to discover why she was repeatedly attracting the same emotionally unavailable men. She was living an extraordinary, prosperous life, yet she was unfulfilled, lonely, and dissatisfied. Toxic childhood patterns led her to approach life with a ‘take no prisoners’ mindset providing great financial and philanthropic success, and preventing a deep, authentic connection with the closest people in her life. By shifting to a new paradigm in her coaching practice, she became a powerful guiding force for women desiring to be feminine, open hearted, and vulnerable. She sought teachers globally and strengthened her intuition through the empowering healing practice of embodiment. This inner soul work allowed her to heal and she recently manifested her warrior-king husband. Sandy’s deepest desire is for each client to intentionally claim their authentic purpose and abundance of self-worth, trust more fully, release baggage from the past, minimize frustrations between men and women, and create the quality relationships so deeply desired.

JUSTINE WELTER OWNER AND INSTRUCTOR JUST26 HOT YOGA + MEDITATION Justine opened her studio with the vision to bring awareness to the mental health benefits of yoga and meditation. It wasn’t until she went through some big life changes that she turned to yoga to address some mental health concerns of her own. Going to yoga, and specifically a style of hot yoga known as Bikram yoga, was an outlet to tune out while letting go of anxiety and stress. This specific style is the same 26 postures each class and as you learn the sequence it becomes a moving meditation, not having to think of what posture is coming next. Although seldom talked about, there are many of us (especially women) who deal with anxiety, stress, depression and past trauma. Justine hopes to bring this conversation to the forefront of her business and help other people who wish to heal. Just26 offers a variety of classes and is inviting to all practitioners. SHANNON THOMAS THE PAINTED TABLE You might not be familiar with the creator behind some of the area’s most recognizable decorative art, but chances are you’ve seen her work. From the bronze Locale Market fish sculpture to the gothic architectural elements adorning historic homes in the Old Northeast, Shannon Thomas has spent the past two decades restoring treasured antiques, transforming interior/exterior spaces and staying ahead of the latest trends in applied arts. The name of her art gallery and custom finishing business – The Painted Table – is as unassuming and humble as Shannon herself, often found in paint-splattered overalls working in concert with her clients to materialize a dream. Whether she’s stenciling whimsical pink hearts on wooden beams or gilding an opulent foyer in metallic damask, Shannon’s client-led artistic direction keeps her commissioned work schedule healthy and her palette as dynamic as her imagination. Rarely without a paintbrush or concept board nearby, Shannon gleans inspiration from home too as the mother of a teenager whose Instagrammable style motivates her mother to constantly remain on the leading edge of design. No stranger to Church of the Ascension, Belleair resident Molly joined the staff nearly 10 years ago as the social media minister. While her primary responsibilities include delivering key church information via social media, another ministry on campus was calling her name. Many of the area’s homeless and food-insecure individuals tend to congregate by the church. Molly began to notice those who gathered on the benches near the back parking lot and got to know the regulars. Somewhere along the way, Molly came across the concept of The Little Free Pantry (littlefreepantry.org) and thought it was just what the community needed. With the support of 31 volunteers, the pantry is filled daily. Ready-toeat food and drinks are the most popular. Volunteers are invited to think creatively, and the pantry is often decorated for a holiday or a particular theme just to bring cheer to those who are hungry. “Don’t just count your blessings. Be the blessing other people count on.” Anonymous
