MULTISTAR - Mobile star screens
Introduction Screening is a fundamental treatment stage in the processing of waste, recyclables and biomass. Star screen technology is increasingly being used here. In most cases it is a MULTISTAR star screen. The reason is simple - one machine and one operation are sufficient to divide the material into 2, 3 or 4 fractions. All that is required to change the particle size is the press of a button – the machine does the rest. The electrical drive ensures the machine runs quietly, efficiently and economically. There is a perfect configuration for virtually any application and system size. Magnet separation, wind sifting and separation of rolling fraction make star screens multi-functional - anything is possible.
• separation into 2, 3 or 4 fractions with one machine and in one operation • high throughput and precise selectivity with the CLEANSTAR system • high degree of flexibility, particle size changes in just seconds • ease of operation and simple servicing with intelligent machinery design • multi-functional with numerous options

Material Wood waste / fuel Green waste, root stocks, woodland residue, fresh compost Using star screen technology, high-quality fuel is generated from shredded, woody biomass in just one screening run. The rotating stars disentangle the screening material and knock off any persistent material. What ends up as fine or oversized particles is decided from the operator console. Variations in the material are balanced out, and high quality of the usable fraction assured.
Compost Green compost, bio-compost, sludge compost Screening is always in season with MULTISTAR star screens. Throughput and selectivity are high, even with fluctuations in moisture content and various states of decomposing. Options such as wind sifting, magnet separation and separation of the rolling fraction ensure a quality compost that is free of contaminants.
Wood / bark Treated/untreated waste wood, wood chips, bark Star screens give impressively high throughput, and can produce all particle sizes commonly required in the market. Fine parts and overlengths are reliably separated off. Magnet separation and wind sifting can be added if required.
Waste Commercial waste, MSW, residual waste Fractions high in calorific value are separated from shredded waste fractions by the disc separator/star screen combination (MS L3 Flowerdisc). High throughput, low levels of wear, and hence low maintenance overhead, are the hallmarks of this flexible mobile solution.

MULTISTAR - Mobile star screens
Screen Stars Always clean thanks to CLEANSTAR The screen units are continually cleaned by the patented CLEANSTAR cleaning system. Each star has a wear-resistant cleaning finger that clears the screen gap to the surrounding stars on each rotation. In contrast to competing products, our machines prevent both material wrap-around and adhesion caused by wet material. Perfectly tailored solutions are available for any application area, enabling low-wear and thus very economical, work.

Functional principle: First coarse – then fine The core of the star screens consists of 1, 2 or more screen decks, depending on model. The rotating shafts of the coarse screen deck move the material in a horizontal direction. Everything that cannot pass through the defined gap between the stars is separated off as coarse material. Material passing through the screen moves on the fine screen deck fitted with smaller stars and is separated into fine and medium fractions in the same way. Particle size can be controlled by varying the rotation speed of the star shafts. Using frequency converters on the operator console, the particle size in the bandwidth specified by the star geometry can be changed within seconds. Sensors are located on all rotating parts, and all functions are monitored by the central controller which reports on the current operational state.

MULTISTAR L2
L2 Advantages L stands for Large, but also for high Level of performance – precisely the right description for the MULTISTAR L2. The generous feed metering hopper, with a capacity of 9 yd3, enables continual working. As with all MULTISTAR star screens, a metering drum moves the material evenly onto the screen deck. The powerful screen unit is over 9 yd3 in size and separates the screening material into oversized and undersized particles – with considerable performance reserves for harsh everyday environments. The discharge height of 11´6˝ for the discharge belts attest to the well-conceived design for high throughputs. Integrated power generators not only ensure extremely reliable operation, they also guarantee low noise emissions and low fuel consumption.

Multistar L3
L3 Within just a short time, the MULTSTAR L3 has established itself as one of the most successful star screen machines on the market. Hardly a surprise – everything that modern screen technology has to offer is packed within an overall length of just 36´1˝. One operation gives three fractions, wind sifted and cleared of metal if so required. And there´s more – a series of further options makes the machine a genuine allrounder.
Biomass applications
If the machine is run at full capacity, a second wheelloader will have its hands full. Yet everything runs quietly and smoothly thanks to the electric drive with intelligent controller, and easy operation from a touch panel. The L3 and L2 permit great mobility when mounted on a tandem chassis. When on site, the supports are extended out, the conveyor belts folded out and the machine is ready for use.

Multistar XL
XL Advantages The XL is the MULTISTAR family member with special capabilities. Genetically related to the L3, the XL has two key differentiators. An extended coarse screen increases screening performance for situations where this initial screening step can be the bottleneck, such as when screening fresh biomass. Mobility is provided by mounting as a semi-trailer, allowing for widespread use of this system. In all other respects the XL can do anything the L3 can. All possible customer requirements can be addressed with wind sifting of the coarse and medium particles, separation of the rolling fraction, magnet separation and other options.
• extended coarse screen with straight discharge • fully mobile with mounting on a semi-trailer • wide range of options for high functionality for large plants and contractors Throughput: up to 330 yd3/h Options:

MULTISTAR XXL
XXL The MULTISTAR XXL is at the top of the Komptech star screen product range. The XXL is at home where large quantities are shifted on a daily basis. If the machine is configured for maximum throughput, one wheel loader is occupied just with feeding the 16 yd3 hopper, while another is occupied with transportation of the output material. A coarse screen larger than 65 ft2 in size and an 120 ft2 fine screen are responsible for throughputs of up

to 525 yd3/hour – with a fuel consumption of no more than 2.6 gallons/hour. Additional optional features, such as magnet drum, roll separator for oversized particles and wind sifter for medium particles, provide even more capability. And yet this giant amongst screen machines remains mobile. Its design as a semi-trailer, with a transport width of 8´4˝, poses no problem for transportation by road.

L3 FLOWERDISC
L3 flowerdisc Advantages The MULTISTAR L3 FLOWERDISC is a noteworthy addition to mobile treatment choices for bulky waste, commercial waste and waste wood. With the combination of disc separator and star screen, a mostly inert fine fraction is separated out, as well as a medium and coarse fraction for the generation of refuse derived fuels – all in just one operation. A conveyor belt (from the shredder connected upstream) is normally used for material feed directly onto the screen deck. The high-performance drive, and 22´11˝ and 19´8˝ screen lengths on the contrary-resistant FLOWERDISC and highly selective star screen respectively provide the right conditions for high throughput.
Application commercial waste
• perfect for mobile waste and waste wood • applicable in-line with a shredder • contrary-resistant disc separator for coarse screening

Easystar
Easystar Advantages The sturdy and simply constructed EASYSTAR star screen deck separates compost, bark, biomass, etc. into oversized and undersized particles – extremely reliable and quiet. With its easily mounted footrest substructure, the simple hook lift version allows quick and flexible semi-mobile use. When used in conjunction with a shredder or pre-screener, it effectively cuts off overlengths/over-sized particles from shredded waste wood, green waste, root wood, etc. resulting in simple, cost-effective material treatment.
• universal application • quickly deployable with mounting on a hook lift platform • simple and cost-effective solution simple, semi-mobile star screen unit Throughput: up to 330 yd3/h Options:
