HAYAO MIYAZAKI X CAREER
Hayao MIYAZAKI is one of the greatest animators and directors in Japan. The entertaining plots, compelling characters and breathtaking animation in his films have earned him international renown from critics as well as public recognition within Japan.

Hayao Miyazaki was born in T么ky么 on January 5, 1941.
He moved to the A Pro studio with Isao Takahata

He started his career as an animator at the studio Toei Douga studio, and was subsequently involved in many early classics of Japanese animation.
1973
Moved to Nippon Animation where he was heavily involved in the World Masterpiece Theater TV animation series for the next five years.

1997 Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke received the Japanese equivalent of the Academy Award for Best Film and was the highest-grossing domestic film in Japan's history at the time of its release.

Ghibli Museum is a museum showcasing the work of the Japanese animation studio Studio Ghibli. It is located in Inokashira Park in Mitaka, a western city of Tokyo, Japan.
Planning for the museum began in 1998. Construction started in March 2000, and the museum officially opened October 1, 2001. Studio Ghibli director Hayao Miyazaki designed the museum himself, using drawn storyboards similar to the ones he creates for his films.

ocated in Mitaka, just outside of central Tokyo, the museum is a must-see for fans of the films. The museum itself is whimsically designed in the distinct style of the studio’s films, and many of their famous characters are there, including a life-sized robot from “Castle in the Sky” on the rooftop garden. The first floor of the museum exhibits the history and techniques of animation and has as a small theater which shows short movies by Studio Ghibli that are exclusive to the museum. The second floor houses special temporary exhibitions. The museum also has a cafe, children’s play area, a rooftop garden and a gift shop.

NEW EXHIBITION: The Nutcracker and the Mouse King Hayao Miyazaki introduces the story of The Nutcracker and presents his interpretation from various perspectives through hand-drawn illustrated panels. There are also a large model of a ballet theatre’s stage and a room presenting The Nutcracker’s lovely illustrations, drawn by its illustrator Alison Jay, inviting young children into the world of the picture book.

1986 Castle in the Sky His first film with Ghibli Pazu, an engineer’s apprentice, finds a young girl, Sheeta, floating down from the sky, and discovers they are both searching for a legendary floating castle, Laputa. 1994 Pom Poko (The Raccoon War) The Raccoons of the Tama Hills are being forced from their homes by the rapid development of houses and shopping malls. 1997 Princess Mononoke In Mononoke he revisits the ecological and political themes and continues his cinematic exploration of the transience of existence he began in Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. The story is about a struggle between the animal spirits inhabiting the forest and the humans exploiting the forest for industry, culminating in an uneasy co-existence and boundary transcending relationships between the main characters. Inflicted with a deadly curse, a young warrior named Ashitaka sets out for the forests of the west in search of the cure that will save his life. Once there, he becomes inextricably entangled in a bitter battle that matches Lady Eboshi and a proud clan of humans against the forest’s animal gods, who are led by the brave Princess Mononoke, a young woman raised by wolves!

2002 The Cat Returns A spin-off of Whisper of the Heart Haru, a schoolgirl bored by her ordinary routine, saves the life of an unusual cat, and suddenly her world is transformed beyond anything she ever imagined. 2012 The Wind Rises The final film directed by Miyazaki before his retirement A fictionalized biopic of Jiro Horikoshi (1903–1982), designer of the Mitsubishi A5M fighter aircraft and its successor, the Mitsubishi A6M Zero, used by the Empire of Japan during World War II. The film is adapted from Miyazaki’s manga of the same name, which was in turn loosely based on the 1937 short story The Wind Has Risen by Tatsuo Hori.

1983, Joe Hisaishi was recommended by a record company to create the Image Album for Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind, which was being made into a movie. Miyazaki was so impressed with the Image Album that he often played it during the movie production. He is best known for his work with animator Hayao Miyazaki, having composed scores for many of his films, including Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro,Kiki’s Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, Ponyo, and The Wind Rises. His music played a very important role in there movies.

you’ve ever listened to a Ghibli orchestral arrangement album, you will be awed by the intricate instrumentation and expression of Joe Hisashi’s timeless music. SAISHI IN BUDOKAN X STUDIO GHIBLI 5 YEARS CONCERT is a musical and emotional adventure for listeners, and the experience of watching Hisaishi bring out the magic in his music is just phenomenal. Hisaishi’s competence with orchestral instruments makes his works perfect for this sort of presentation. In Joe Hisaishi in Budokan, the orchestra helps bring out the different dimensions in the music and the nuances between different segments. “Tonari no Totoro,” for example, started out slowly and gracefully with strings accompanied by lower brasses. The different sections then took turns at the main melody, steadily increasing the energy, reaching its peak at the portion after the piano.
Hisaishi’s skill at the piano is another reason for the success. There haven’t been many good renditions of “The Merry-Go-Round of Life,” but Hisaishi gentle piano introduction to the piece nails the it spot-on. Many versions are just unable to articulate the elegance of the piece, and they often turn out overpowering and clumsy. Here, the orchestra takes the baton after Hisaishi’s soulful introduction and builds it into yet another fantasy for listeners to immerse themselves in.
