Recently Grind Flu Magazine sat down with Russell and Ceasy Leo from NBH to to talk about Grind Flu: What are some life experiences that have influenced your songs the most? Cease: For me it’s the doubt and the criticism that I’ve heard I really don’t show any emotion until I hit the booth, as a artist that’s when you make the best music because its real and it’s from the heart. Show and prove. Russell: The recession definitely influenced “hustle ghost”. We saw a lot of people struggling and wanted to give a little hope to the people for chasing paper. Grind Flu: What is the best advice you have ever received as a group? Cease: The best advice we’ve received to me is for us to continue to push, set trends and also find a way to make this thing pay for itself. Invest in yourself so you are not paying for everything with your bill money… if you plan on getting into this music game with just bill money you won’t get far. Russell: Stay humble and go harder each round! (Kevin Shyne) Grind Flu: How would you describe your music for the public audience that has never heard yall before? Cease: Our music is like a breath of fresh air, it’s different and we make music for everybody not just one set audience. Good Ear Food! Russell: Like a breath of fresh air from the air polluting music out there being heard now. Grind Flu: Thinking back to your childhood, what was you first experience with music? Cease: As a kid I was on the church choir singing… so I was always around music never thought I would be in the rap game though. Russell: Me, my brother and my cousins use to always get my momma to film is reinacting other artists’ songs like (ABC, BBD etc. all the hot groups in the 90’s) Grind Flu: What made you first realize yall wanted to pursue a career in music? Cease: Well we first started sending punch lines through text msgs to each other, and Russ told me his cousin had a studio so we hit the booth for the first time and did a song over a Jeezy instrumental and for the first time we sound pretty good at least we thought we did… and it just became addictive and the more we recorded the better we got. Came up with a Group name and it’s been history every since. Russell: When we stayed in the studio for 12 hrs straight, didn’t want to leave and hated the fact that we had to go to work the next day because we wanted to pursue more time in the studio. Grind Flu: What can people expect to see at your live performances? Cease: They can expect to see the best independent show they have ever seen… our shows are full of energy and we leave a great impression on the ones who are new to N.B.H. Russell: An expression of passion for what we do. We take the energy of the track and revolve it 1000 more times so that the people see what we put into our craft.

Cont. From Previous Page Grind Flu: What has been the biggest challenge for yall as a group? NBH: The biggest challenge for us is to come to an agreement on what songs and what video’s we want to release to the public because we have so much material people haven’t even heard yet. Also People trying to split us up into individual artists with rumors or criticism, but those people are a given. Grind Flu: Do yall have other interests or talents that yall would like to share with us? Cease: I’m a ball player been one since I was a kid… in the future I plan to coach a little league basketball team. Russell: Well a new talent that has arisen in myself is videography. I recently purchased a HD camera and started filming and directing our own videos. From that, I ‘ve been getting a lot of inquiries about filming other artists videos and doing commercials for business. People have mentioned how good of an eye I have when it comes to a plot and I kinda took it Grind Flu: Now, why did yall cut your dreads off? Cease: Well Russ cut his off because mine were longer than his and he couldn’t take it anymore so he just chopped his off (no matter what he says lol) I cut mine off because I got tired of mine. I just needed a changed, something new. Sometimes change is good. Russell: Lol well my reason was for a rebirth. I was changing my name from Young Russell to Russell Double-O and to signify that, I wanted to show growth as a man by cutting my hair also which I was rapidly growing tired of. Whenever I miss them, I look into the bilo bag where they rest lol Grind Flu: Now, why did yall cut your dreads off? Cease: In the next 5 years I want N.B.H. to known as one of the best groups not only in SC but in the music game period. Russell: Right here in front of you talking about where I came from and how I became a millionaire (Time Machine Russell) Grind Flu: What are some upcoming project NBH is working on? NBH: Right now we are goin hard at promoting the SWIS record and we are also working on the new mixtape “Big Game” hosted by Dj Emoney

Maurice Nesbitt was born May 31st 1977 in Spartanburg SC to Rosetta and Melvin Nesbitt Sr. Raised in Tyger Park, a small neighborhood consisting of mostly family, the musical influence was strong. With his father being a long time drummer at Foster’s Chapel Baptist Church and playing in a local band since the 60’s, it was inevitable that he picked up the trade as well. By 15 he was a full time drummer at his local church. Having grown up in the hip hop generation, spending time around his father’s jazz band and being involved in the church’s music ministry, he established a love for just about every genre of music there is. By 17 he’d lost several close friends to street related violence, unfortunately that was not enough to force a change in him. After being charged and convicted with a felony 1998, he realized that it was time to take a different path in life. While awaiting trial at Spartanburg County’s detention center, he had his first encounter with God has not looked back. Celebrating the birth of his first child Jayvaughn on October 26th 1999, marrying Pamela Adams on July 8th, 2000, and another son, Jarvis O’Braylin on December 22nd 2001, Maurice is a devoted family man using his musical influence to Glorify God. Winning a UIA (Urban Inspirational Award) for “Rhythm and Praise” artist in 2008, more than 2 years before the release of his debut release “BROKEN”, his heart is without a doubt set on spreading the word of God through his music ministry. 24
