The brine from Rabka for beauty
The brine of Rabka was taken advantage of already in the 13th century. It was first written about in 1721 but the first chemical analysis which confirmed its beneficial qualities was carried out in 1858. Then, it turned out that one of the strongest iodine-bromine brines in Europe flowed out from the local springs. Today, they constitute the foundation of the spa and are well used either in Spa&Wellness zones or cosmetic industry. Properly used brine conditions and nourishes, has antibacterial properties, treats skin with acne, psoriasis or mycosis. Taking a bath, we can add it to water – such a bath is incredibly healthy and relaxing. Moreover, we can apply it on our face, use creams, ointments, mists and even shampoos or conditioners which are produced with the use of brine.

Czarny Dunajec Commune is located in the valley of the river which bears the same name, in a beautiful land inhabited by Highlanders called Podhale. It lies halfway between Rysy and Babia Mountain in the area which has been strongly transformed by vanishing agriculture and sparsely wooded but still attractive in terms of geology, nature and landscape.
One of the biggest curiosities of the commune are boglands which used to be vast and now are in the form of isolated islands. They are raised alpine bogs called ‘puścizny’ grown with rare plants characteristic of such ecosystems. However, the biggest treasure of the commune are geothermal waters hidden deep underground.
Thanks to them, the complex of geothermal swimming pools was erected in Chochołów – the greatest attraction of the commune.
Czarny Dunajec and villages which surround it are very attractive in terms of tourism all year round. The area is a great starting point for trips into the Tatras, the Beskids, the Gorce and the Pieniny. There are cycling paths, it is close to ski stations and far from crowds. The air is clear and the views take our breath. Highlanders from Podhale, who inhabit the land, have been creating their traditions, famous music, dances and cuisine in the place for ages. Czarny Dunajec has a lot to offer to those who seek health and relaxation.
The richness of geothermal waters
Chochołowskie Thermal Baths is the biggest complex of swimming pools in Podhale. There are swimming pools, a jacuzzi with thermal water and a healing zone with sulphide water and brine. The swimming pools are enriched with geysers, a rapid river, an artificial wave and hydromassage stands. A sandy beach and an outdoor water playground open in summer are available as well. You can play water volleyball or basketball or swim in a sports swimming pool. A slide with a drop and two dinghy slides will definitely give us a thrill.
Chochołowskie Thermal Baths is also a place with a large SPA & Wellness zone where we will find bath studios, massage studios, beauty studios, a Rhassoul bath house and a salt grotto. The saunarium is the most spacious area – there is a BIO juniper sauna, dry saunas, steam and aromatic baths, an Infrared sauna or ‘Highlander’s Cottage’ sauna. We can cool off in an outdoor or indoor pool with cold water, a cooling barrel or at the icefall. Steam sessions with a view of the Tatras take place in a Finnish sauna – they are run by sauna masters. We can participate in cyclical events such as the Sauna Night or Women’s Thursdays.
