Hue to Hoi An via Hai Van Pass
DETAILS Leave Hue for Hoi An (140km /approx 2.5 hrs). You will take the scenic route over the Hai Van Pass, also known as the Pass of Ocean Clouds, and through the fishing village of Lang Co – a very picturesque journey. Hai Van Pass or Sea Clouds Pass offers an impressive landscape of verdant mountains and clear blue skies, overlooking Da Nang City, Tien Sa Port, Son Tra Peninsula, and South China Sea. Crossing over a spur of Truong Son mountain range between Thua Thien-Hue Province and Da Nang City, it stands at 500m above sea level, making it the highest pass in Vietnam. The 25 kilometre-long mountain pass is popular amongst thrill-seeking motorcyclists due to its winding roads, sudden curves and blind corners, while its lookout point offers gorgeous views of Da Nang Bay. Hoi An Town is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a Southeast Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. Its buildings and its street plan reflect the influences, both indigenous and foreign, that have combined to produce this unique heritage site. Hoi An has no airport, and no train station either. The only way to get there is by road. You can hire a taxi from the neighbouring city of Da Nang, which does have an airport with daily flights from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and other large Vietnamese cities. There’s also a train station in Da Nang, and bus services are plentiful. We have a wide selection of hotels for you to choose from in both Cua Dai Beach and Hoi An City, whatever suits your pocket and style.

Ho Chi Minh City to Cu Chi District
DETAILS Depart Ho Chi Minh City at 08:00 for the drive to Cu Chi district. Leaving the city behind, the scenery changes to views of rice paddies, villagers drying noodles by the side of the road and other scenes typical to southern Vietnam. C? Chi is a suburban district of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. During the American War from 1967, C? Chi Base Camp served as base for the 269th Aviation Battalion of the United States Army. It is famous for its C? Chi tunnels, which were constructed during the Vietnam War, and served as headquarters for the Viet Cong. Today, the district has many industrial zones. The tunnel network of Cu Chi became legendary during the 1960s for facilitating VC control of a large rural area only 30km to 40km from HCMC. At its peak, the tunnel system stretched from the South Vietnamese capital to the Cambodian border; in the district of Cu Chi alone more than 250km of tunnels honeycomb the ground. The network, parts of which were several storeys deep, included countless trapdoors, constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapon factories, field hospitals, command centres and kitchens. Cu Chi has become a place of pilgrimage for Vietnamese school children and Communist Party cadres.

The cities of Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and Battambang are well worth a visit, and beyond these hubs Cambodia’s charming villages exude a sense of calm. Still traditional – and where most Cambodian’s live – it is in the countryside that visitors discover the depth of Cambodia, the strength of its people and its intoxicating culture. Step off the tourist trail – travel to Kratie to see the Irrawaddy River Dolphins of the Mekong, or visit the south coast to visit Cambodia’s fringing tropical islands.

This morning visit the famous temple of Ta Prohm, built in the mid-12th to early 13th Centuries. Ta Prohm is unique in that it has been left largely as it was found: overgrown by jungle trees and vines, with many parts of the temple crumbling to the ground. This makes Ta Prohm one of the most picturesque and memorable of the Angkor temples. Then you will visit the magnificent Angkor Wat. Built during the reign of King Suryavarman II in the early 12th Century, Angkor Wat is constructed following the model of the temple mountain symbolising Mount Meru, the home of the gods. Inside the temple the walls are covered with stone carvings and basreliefs depicting Hindu mythology and the wars Suryavarman II fought during his reign. Angkor Wat is well known for the images of more than 2,000 Apsara dancers decorating the temple and construction of the temple is thought to have taken around 30 years of intensive labour. Today Angkor Wat features on Cambodia’s national flag as the temple symbolises the soul of the Khmer people.
