QUARTZ From Cambria
Quartz is one of the hardest minerals on Earth. Because of its strength and abundance, quartz is a popular and reliable choice for countertops.
“engineered” or “man-made”
Pros
Cons
●
extremely durable
●
never have to be sealed, unlike granite, marble, and other surfaces
●
●
▫
scratch resistant, but they may dull a knife that is used directly on the surface
▫
quartz can be damaged by sudden changes in temperature
▫
not approved for outdoor use
▫
not heat tolerant
nonabsorbent beautiful designs, colors, and patterns

Manufacturing Cambria surfaces are made of : ▫ ▫ ▫
pure & natural quartz binder pigment
2018 : Cambria acquired its own quartz mine (yields some of the highest-quality quartz found on Earth)
The mine possesses a quartz supply sustainable for hundreds of years.
6
%90 ground quartz (a natural hard mineral)
+
%8 to 10 resins, polymers, and pigments 7
Manufacturing Headquartered in Le Sueur, Minnesota, Cambria owns and operates 32 facilities, including a state-of-the-art one-million-square-foot processing facility, fabrication and distribution centers and galleries.
Mining quartz particles through crushed stone
smaller & greener footprint
WHY ? ▫ ▫
better yield per extraction less waste
Also, the mining sites are backfilled and the land restored after the quartz is extracted. Cambria has control of every step of the process including:
Cambria prides itself on being the leading American-made, family-owned producer of natural quartz surfaces.

meticulous quartz procurement Inspection quality checks at the mine itself.
Cambria takes pride in ensuring responsible environmental stewardship of this unique resource.

Transportation / shipping Their commitment to American made, including a domestic supply chain, means a limited carbon footprint and on demand inventory. To transfer raw material to the warehouse, they use rail and minimize the use of trucks.
10
Distance from our design area
The distance of fabricator from our design area is 1,8 miles ( 10 min)
11
Distance from the Headquarter In Le Sueur, Minnesota
The distance until the NY fabricator is 1,231 miles ( 19 hours)
Distance by rail = 1,231 / 3 = 410,33

The cabinets must not be out of plane more than 1/8” for every 8’ length Visible gaps between Cambria countertops and each wall must not exceed 1/32”.10 Use 50-year 100% silicone to fasten Cambria to the support. Run a light bead of 50-year 100% silicone at the intersection point of the Cambria countertop and the substrate or cabinet. Do not rigidly adhere Cambria to other products. Use only 50-year 100% silicone to adhere Cambria to wood, steel, ceramic, tile, etc. Apply Cambria backsplashes (strips and full height) using 50-year 100% silicone. Never install mechanical fasteners (screws, nails, etc.) directly through Cambria. ‘Slip fit and glue’ inserts may be used with Cambria. Pressure fit inserts are not permitted.

Cambria’s Sustainable Process Mining Mining sites are backfilled and the land is restored after the quartz is extracted.100% of the power used at our mine is hydroelectric.
15
Water Cambria recycle 100% of water used for production which saves 1.6 billion gallons annually. On-site storm drainage pond provides water for the grounds of the processing facility.
Tooling All diamond-metal tooling is refurbished and reused. They refurbish and restore the tools for an additional 2,000 lineal feet and repeat this process up to seven times.
Scrap Cambria has a crushing facility that processes any unused for reuse. Some of this material is reused for Cambria products. The remaining is repurposed for community road materials and construction needs.
