This book offers yet another opportunity for adults and children to engage in fun and useful activities. Together, you can open the door into the fun world of geometry. You will read out the instructions to your child and encourage them to complete the tasks independently. The children will interact with various geometric shapes. They will be tasked with recognizing, colouring in and assembling simple geometric shapes. This will prepare them for adopting knowledge on properties of shapes, which will be taught as part of the curriculum in the lower grades of elementary school. This book is intended for children aged 5 to 7. They can complete the tasks through games and fun, whether it’s on their own or with friends.

Developmental characteristics vary among children, so you shouldn’t be discouraged if some of the tasks prove to be too difficult for your child. Don’t insist on solving them – you will see how exciting it will be when your child is more successful at a later attempt. Solving one problem at a time, your child will practice and develop: Perception and preciseness; Motor skills; Recognising identical lines and shapes; Drawing in a grid and colouring in basic geometric shapes; Perceiving symmetry and drawing symmetric shapes in a grid; Independence and persistence when solving tasks; Critical thinking and creativity.

LET’S PLAY WITH SHAPES
Circles, squares and triangles Jenny has to make the face as shown in the picture by using paper in different colours. How many circle-shaped parts has Jenny prepared? ‌..
In each of these pictures, are there more squares or triangles? Answer.

LET’S PLAY WITH SHAPES
Finding the same shapes Fill in the same shapes with their matching colour and you will get a pretty pattern.
14
LET’S PLAY WITH SHAPES
Find the same shapes and fill them in with matching colour.

LET’S PLAY WITH SHAPES
Colourful drawings Fill in the shapes with the same colour as the star in them.
Fill in each part of the drawing with the same colour as the star in them. Fill in the remaining parts using one of the three colours, so that parts of same colour don’t share edges.
16
LET’S PLAY WITH SHAPES
In each drawing, find identical shapes and fill them in with the same colour as the star in them.
17
LET’S PLAY WITH SHAPES
Drawing and colouring in a grid Using the lines in the grid, draw and colour in the shapes as shown on the left.
18
LET’S PLAY WITH SHAPES

Books from the Fun World of Geometry edition are designed to develop mathematical skills, independence and persistence in children, but also teach them how to be precise and notice patterns. These books will improve their confidence in problem solving and help them successfully prepare to start school.
