1. Look at the photos and answer the questions.

2. I think popular are the following programmes such Talk Show, Sports, Quiz Show and soaps. I usually watch sports and Quiz Shows.

3. Yes, they are. They are «Oryol or Reshka?», «Great Ukrainians», «Wild Nature» have become my favourite programmes recently.

4. Such programmes as «Stosuyetzya Kozhnogo*(«Concern Everyone») and «Gotuyemo Razom» («Cooking Together») bother me and I don’t like watch these programmes.

4 a) Look at the list of different kinds of programmes and read their definitions. Say which of them you usually watch or listen to. Give examples of the programmes which are broadcast on the Ukrainian TV channels. If you have difficulties with any words consult the dictionary.

The most popular TV programmes in Ukraine are «The New», «Cookery» (by different producers and on different channels), soaps, a Morning/Breakfast show with Ruslan Senechkin and Reality TV. Radio is less popular than television, but still people listen to it in cars or at work. Radio is a rather old source of information. But it is very good and comfortable. Firstly, receiving sets are small and you can transfer them without any problems. Secondly, when you listen to the radio you cannot only get new information; for example, you can also listen to your lovely music, songs, or news.

5. Look through Ex. 4a on pp. 150–151 again. Find sentences with relative clauses and write them down in your exercise book. Underline the relative clauses and state what type they are: defining or non-defining.
