The year 2010 of Don Bosco College, Maram, captured through the lenses of the College camera men. Scenes bring to the mind nostalgic feelings of bygone days.
A big number of Jesus Youth representatives of Don Bosco College, Maram attended the great jubilee of Jesus Youth in Kochi. The contingent accompanied by Bro. Jacob Prajosh IVD and Sr. Annie Eapen FCC also visited St. Alphonsa’s place at Bharananganam. A group of students had the fortune of taking a photo along with the classmate of St. Alphonsa.

From the desk of the Principal
Dear Readers of Maram Voice, I wish you all a very happy new year, may the Child Jesus born in Bethlehem bless all your endeavours and plans for the new year 2011.
Thank you sincerely for your encouragement, appreciation for the first digital news letter of the College. It received a tremendous support from all our readers. Thank you. This issue brings to you the news of the college through visuals of the past year. I express my sincere thanks to God and to the management, staff, students, well wishers, various organizations, government and civil authorities and all those who are connected with the college in one way or another for making Don Bosco College once again the pride of everyone. Thanks a lot. Every year is a unique gift of God. But 2010 revealed new and contrasting events in recent times. Undoubtedly we continued to struggle against a plethora of issues of man making and otherwise. What is encouraging is that we found new ways of managing them. Most revealing and startling were the scams that were unearthed by media and various offices. Of course they are not new to our ears. What their uncovering and investigation shows us a new awareness. Leaving aside scams we also had successes in many fields. In spite of hurdles and obstructions of magnitude we did manage to show our diversity and unity in number of ways to the outside world. Let me turn your attention to the recently concluded Jesus Youth Jubilee celebration held at Rajagiri College of Social Science, Kochi. My appreciation and kudos to all the members of the organizing team. It was indeed a great show. Now I understand more and more the line “Youth is Power”. I saw it with my eyes, heard and experienced it. It was wonderful to be there for the inauguration of the great jubilee. The entire place was well prepared for the programme. Very few of us do venture into such programme of magnitude wherein we are called to manage - food, travel, accommodation etc for twenty five thousand people. It was indeed a show! I have been thinking of the show for quite some time. What makes a programme successful? Where to begin on the road to success? What to be kept in mind when stepped into darkness? Planning is important no one denies that. But how serious are we with the planning? Many rounds of meeting with various committees are required at different times. Yet we fail to delegate and give decision making right to those who take up various responsibilities. Partnership and taking stock of the situation at different times are required for a well executed project. We are at the dawn of a new year. We have plans and ideas. Whatever we want to achieve can be achieved if we have a taste for professional success, ability in personal relationships, possess leadership potentialities, ability to persuade, influence and motivate people around us. It is Theodore Roosevelt who remarked, “The most important single ingredient in the formula of success is knowing how to get along with people.” I would like to wish all our readers once a very happy New Year and lots of positive opportunities for a satisfying and fulfilling New Year 2011. Let us get into action! Wish you all a joy ride all through this year. Yours lovingly Fr. Benny James SDB Principal

The Inauguration of the New Scholastic Year 2010-2011
The Paradox of our age We have bigger houses but smaller families; more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees, but less sense; more knowledge, but less judgement. More experts, but more problems. We have been all the way to the moon and back. But have trouble of crossing the streets to meet the new neighbour. We built more computers to hold more information to produce more copies than ever, but have less communication; We have become long on quantity, but short on quality. These are times of fast foods, but slow digestion. Tall man but short character; Steep profits but shallow relationships. It’s a time when there is much in the window but nothing in the room.
