Dear Fellowship Family, On August 17, 2020, with the largest enrollment to date, Fellowship opened its doors to usher in a new school year. While many of our public school counterparts began the school year remotely, we were immensely grateful to be able to facilitate a return to in-person learning after the disruption we experienced the previous spring. Our in-person return would not have happened without an abundance of preparation and the comprehensive and thoughtful plan collectively organized by our Board of Directors, nurses, leadership team, task forces, and our remarkable faculty and staff.

From seating charts to desk spacing to health screening checklists, our team worked tirelessly preparing to have our students safely on campus. Likewise, the partnership with our parents was also a major contributing factor in our ability to stay in school. Because of their steadfast support of our safety protocols, diligence monitoring their children, and proactive response to any health concerns, we were able to spend the vast majority of the year engaged in in-person learning. I believe we can all agree that the success and accomplishments of our students would not have been possible without our incredible teachers. While simultaneously providing remote and inperson instruction, our teachers were stretched and tested in ways they had never experienced. Without a doubt, they more than rose to the challenge. I could never properly thank them for their efforts and sacrifices, but I celebrate them with the confidence that their Heavenly Father saw it all and is pleased with the way they worked for His glory. By all accounts, the 2020-2021 school year was a great success in fulfilling our mission and reaching our goals. Throughout the pages of this Annual Report, you will see that our students flourished, our community gave with generous hearts, and Fellowship continued to steward its resources well while seeking to build on our sturdy financial foundation. It is tremendously humbling how the Lord continues to bless Fellowship as we endeavor to mold students who live with purpose and lead with intent for God’s glory alone. Before the 2020-2021 school year began, the leadership team chose the theme, “Love Anyway.” We did not know how fitting it would be or how beautifully our community would embrace it. The choice made to love with patience and kindness, enduring hardships, and keeping no record of wrongs, was not only pivotal to our success as a school, but a testament to the Lord’s presence and work within each of you. I am, and will always be, grateful to serve this community. With gratitude,

Dr. Kathryn M. Teston

Your 2020-2021 Annual Fund Gifts at Work

With 90% parent participation overall, our Fearlessly Faithful community was exceedingly generous, contributing more than $594,894 to the 2020-2021 Annual Fund! Your investment is making a difference at Fellowship. While tuition covers operational expenses each year, the funds raised through the Annual Fund contribute to improved programming, facilities, financial aid, and increased debt reduction. Furthermore, each year we identify additional, special projects, programs, and investments that will have a broad impact on the entire school community. Here are the projects completed as a result of your contributions to the 2020-2021 Annual Fund:

Fellowship Offers Full Service Dining Fellowship contracted with Metz Culinary Management to bring food service to our students! We are thrilled to offer, for the first time in school history, a true school dining experience with healthy menu options. The Annual Fund purchased all the necessary equipment to bring this service to FCS. (All equipment purchased can be utilized in any future dining upgrade, so the investment has immediate impact with future stewardship.)

Gym 1 (G1) Concession Area Renovation Gym 1 previously offered an open concept/hybrid concession area that flowed freely into the gymnasium. With the addition of dining services, we needed two defined spaces so that classes, chapels, and gatherings in the gym would not be interrupted by lunch service. Therefore, the G1 concession area was upgraded by installing a wall to separate the two spaces. The addition of the wall, which includes two sets of double doors and viewing windows, creates a more spacious feel in the concession area while giving our gym a polished, professional feel.

Gym 2 (G2) Refresh As a multi-purpose space, G2 was a highly trafficked area in need of an update. During the summer of 2021, the entire gym was repainted, updating its look. Additionally, the second phase of the refresh, which has also been funded by the 2020-2021 Annual Fund proceeds, will include the addition of a true competition wood gym floor. This will make G2 more functional for P.E. classes and the various Jr. Paladin, Middle School, JV, and Varsity sports teams who utilize the space.

Elementary Classroom Renovation With our elementary division almost at capacity, additional classroom space is a priority. The former science lab/home economics room was converted, during the summer of 2021, to a standard elementary classroom with a much-needed storage closet and a self-contained restroom, as is customary in our early-ed classrooms.

New Security Vehicle We are so grateful for the faithful service of Officer Bennett and all he does to keep us and our campus safe. Throughout the years, he has endured seasons of incredible heat and bone-chilling cold as the bulk of his day is spent outside. To protect him from the elements and allow him to move easily around campus, we have invested in a new utility vehicle. This investment is long overdue and will pay dividends as he continues to serve where and whenever needed.

LED Screens Added to Gym 1 (G1) Performance Stage Two large LED screens now adorn the left and right of the stage in G1, and a confidence monitor will be added to the back for all chapels, performances, large group presentations, and events. These screens will enhance the audience experience at our all-school, arts, and athletics events. During athletic events the screens will function as more visible score boards. GIVING WITH PURPOSE Discover The Various Ways You Can Support Fellowship’s Mission and Vision While tuition covers expenses, Fellowship relies heavily on the generosity of our parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends. If you wish to support the covenant mission and vision of Fellowship, there are many ways that you can contribute to our success and continued growth. All gifts, no matter the size, directly impact our students, faculty, and staff as they help to create the environments and experiences that set Fellowship apart.

Annual Giving As Fellowship’s number one fundraiser, the Annual Fund provides for programming and educational enrichment projects not funded by tuition. What does that mean exactly? While tuition covers operational expenses, contributions made to the Annual Fund help finance projects that benefit the daily experiences of our students, faculty, and staff. Whether investing in new computers, professional development for our faculty, renovating a classroom, or completing construction that allows for our new dining services, the projects supported by the Annual Fund make a transformational difference for every student every day.

Endowment Giving The Fellowship Legacy Fund will provide a permanent, sustainable source of funding for Fellowship. Gifts to the Legacy Fund serve as the principal that is invested, and each year a portion of the value of the fund is paid out to support the fund’s purpose. Any annual earnings above and beyond the distribution are reinvested into the fund, increasing its market value and its ability to provide support for its designated purpose into perpetuity. Each gift made to the Fellowship Legacy Fund helps to increase the principal investment and can be designated to support projects that align with the donors’ interests.*

Planned Giving Planned giving is simply arranging a gift now to be allocated at a future date. Through a will or trust, individuals can choose to designate Fellowship, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, as the beneficiary of retirement, insurance, stock, or mutual fund accounts.*

*Planned Giving and Endowment Giving work hand-in-hand. While donors may designate a planned gift from a will, trust, etc. to a capital campaign or other specified projects, those same gifts can also be designated for investment in an existing Endowment to allow the gift to live on in perpetuity.

Georgia GOAL Through Georgia’s Education Expense Credit, the GOAL Scholarship Program allows taxpayers to designate their tax dollars for the improvement of K-12 educational opportunities. Due to Fellowship’s partnership with Georgia GOAL, taxpayer contributions help to provide financial aid for qualified, covenant students, enabling them to benefit from a Fellowship education. In turn, taxpayers benefit by receiving a 100% Georgia income tax credit in exchange for their contribution.

Annual Giving -vs- Endowment Giving While each source of funding serves a different purpose, both are equally crucial to Fellowship’s financial health and longevity.

ANNUAL GIVING

ENDOWMENT What is it?

The Annual Fund runs July 1 through June 30 each year and raises over $500,000 toward the operating budget.

The endowment, comprised of invested restricted and unrestricted funds, helps Fellowship plan for a sustainable future.

How does it work? Funds, typically used in the year given, are flexible, accessible, and used like a checking account to fund projects that support and enhance the educational experiences of our students.

The principal gift is invested and a small percentage is drawn each year for designated projects. This fund is steady and ongoing like a retirement fund, providing for future growth.

Where is it used?

The Annual Fund projects vary each year based on need. Funds may be used for technology enhancements, small construction projects, curriculum purchases, athletics, arts, STEM, and much more.

Endowment funds are most often used to support faculty development and compensation, financial assistance for deserving covenant students, and special academic programming.

THE TIM LESTER LEGACY FUND

In January 2021, the Fellowship family lost a treasured member when Tim Lester passed away unexpectedly due to complications of COVID-19. While Tim was widely known for his illustrious NFL career, those blessed to know him personally knew a man whose spiritual gifts far exceeded his athletic abilities. He was a devoted husband and loving father. He loved the Lord passionately and walked with Him faithfully. As part of that walk, Tim felt called to share his story with young athletes and students. Through his coaching and involvement in the spiritual formation of Fellowship students, he used his gifts and not only made an impact for God’s kingdom, but left his mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. To honor his life and legacy, The Tim Lester Legacy Fund was established. The goal of this fund is to award tuition support to families in financial need, with a preference for those of ethnically diverse backgrounds, in an effort to ensure an excellent Christian education is accessible to all mission-appropriate, academically qualified students in the North Metro Atlanta area. This scholarship fund exists to both honor the tremendous impact Tim Lester made on the lives of countless students and athletes, as well as recognize and support the commitment and sacrifice parents make in an effort to provide their child(ren) every opportunity to pursue their dreams for God’s glory alone.

You may contribute to The Tim Lester Legacy Fund by visiting the Giving page on the FCS website.
