EDA Upgrade The Enterprise Digital Assistants (EDAs) used by ATCO Gas’s service technicians were recently enhanced with new features allowing employees to do more with their devices and improve their overall performance. The upgraded devices now allow employees to access data like appliance troubleshooting guides, forms and reports with Adobe Reader and to read and write Word documents with Word Mobile. EDAs also have voice command and photo uploading features, and are also equipped for future use with a bar code scanner/reader and GPS. EDAs were first implemented in May 2011 for use in completing remotely dispatched work requests, replacing a similar but less advanced digital assistant. With the aid of an EDA, employees can: •

complete inspections of residential and commercial appliances

• provide 24-hour emergency service to residential, commercial and industrial customers install and maintain company equipment • remotely ensure safe and reliable operation and delivery of natural gas through various internal programs Service technicians who experience any issues with their devices should continue to contact the help desk toll-free at 1-877-420-7466.
