The Results are In! ATCO Gas has received a Certificate of Recognition from the Government of Alberta’s Partnerships in Health and Safety program after achieving 89 per cent on a recent safety audit. The Partnerships in Health and Safety program is a voluntary process where government works with employers to promote a strong workplace safety culture. A Certificate of Recognition is given to employers whose health and safety management systems meet established standards. “The Certificate of Recognition shows us that employees are knowledgeable about our safety system. They ‘get it,’ and ATCO Gas is doing an excellent job in operating that system,” said Andy Smith, General Supervisor, Safety, Environment and Quality. “It also serves as a report card and shows us where improvements can be made.” “Our consistent strong audit results are a direct reflection of the hard work and commitment demonstrated by ATCO Gas employees,” said Derek Harding, Manager, Lethbridge, and Co-Chair, Safety, Environment and Quality Council. “We need to continue our diligence on this journey to attaining our goal of zero preventable vehicle collisions and zero lost time injuries.” Key areas of strength identified were orientations, immediate supervision availability, safety resources, regular safety meetings, training, trend analysis, safety action plans and management training. Way to go team!
