Can breast cancer be prevented? There is no sure way to prevent breast cancer. But there are things all women can do that might reduce their risk and help increase the odds that if cancer does occur, it will be found at an early, more treatable stage. Lowering your risk You can lower your risk of breast cancer by changing those risk factors that can be changed. (See the section "What are the risk factors for breast cancer?") Body weight, physical activity, and diet have all been linked to breast cancer, so these might be areas where you can take action. Both increased body weight and weight gain as an adult are linked with a higher risk of breast cancer after menopause. Alcohol also increases risk of breast cancer. Even low levels of alcohol intake have been linked with an increase in risk. Many studies have shown that moderate to vigorous physical activity is linked with lower breast cancer risk.

A diet that is rich in vegetables, fruit, poultry, fish, and low-fat dairy products has also been linked with a lower risk of breast cancer in some studies. But it is not clear if specific vegetables, fruits, or other foods can lower risk. Most studies have not found that lowering fat intake has much of an effect on breast cancer risk. At this time, the best advice about diet and activity to possibly reduce the risk of breast cancer is to: Get regular, intentional physical activity. Reduce your lifetime weight gain by limiting your calories and getting regular physical activity. Avoid or limit your alcohol intake. For more information, see our document American Cancer Society Guidelines on Nutrition

and Physical Activity for Cancer Prevention. Women who choose to breastfeed for at least several months may also get an added benefit of reducing their breast cancer risk. Not using hormone therapy after menopause can help you avoid raising your risk. It’s not clear at this time if environmental chemicals that have estrogenlike properties (like those found in some plastic bottles or certain cosmetics and personal care products) increase breast cancer risk. If there is an increased risk, it is likely to be very small. Still, women who are concerned may choose to avoid products that contain these substances when possible. ?"). Early detection will not prevent breast cancer, but it can help find it when the likelihood of successful treatment is greatest.

Finding Breast Cancer Early Other than lifestyle changes, the most important action a woman can take is to follow the American Cancer Society's guidelines for early detection (outlined in the section "Can breast cancer be found early?"). Early detection will not prevent breast cancer, but it can help find it when the likelihood of successful treatment is greatest. http://www.cancer.org/cancer/breastcancer/detailedguide/ breast-cancer-prevention

ancer sucks, it changed my life, in more ways than I can say, you never really think of death being better then living until you get a disease that they really don’t know what to do so they try different medicines that kill every cell in your body and wait for you to get so sick you cry to die. Three years ago I received the news I had stage 3 c breast cancer I was literally healthy one day and sick the next. It took twenty four hours for me to be scheduled for a port placement. You talk about being numb that first week I was in a daze but FAITH walked me threw. Nothing prepares your for chemo day one. Poison goes in day 2. You go back for more and by day 5 I was either in the hospital or so sick I couldn’t speak. I could only cry and when that was too heavy, I looked up. My son had made me a sun catcher that reminded me that Jesus loves me. I would look up at it and my mind would scream out for Jesus. I have been in the hospital 10 times in three years. I’ve had 6 surgeries and I still have issues with the aftercare. The medicine is costly even with insurance. Our debt is $40,000.

People don’t know my struggle because I smile through it even those closest to me don’t know my continued fight. I knew I had to win this fight because my kids and my husband need me. I kept thinking of Jesus and what he did for me. Who was I to complain, I wouldn’t wish Cancer on my worst enemy. ancer robbed me of three years of my life. I looked up and my children had grown. I hated that. My husband, my rock, had turned gray talking care of his family. I had a lot of talks with God. I cried, then I got mad, and strong, no one should have to go through this but seriously the best advice I have is have faith. I look at life like this, this is a temporary home. I want to go to heaven when my father tells me its time not before. ancer is not of God. People forget he forgave us. This disease is of man and what we have done to ourselves. Every day is a struggle I

get tired, but I’m a survivor I will never give up when my children face obstacles in life they need to know how to fight by praying, it works. I love the Lord even more if possible. I know what it’s like to rely fully on God where if he says jump I jump no questions. There is a song by Shirley Caesar “I remember Mama . I would listen to it a lot because it was about mama keeping her family together I knew I had to.

The latest research shows that women who consume the most carotenoid-rich fruits and vegetables reduce their risk for breast cancer by about 19 percent, according to Susan Levin, M.S., R.D., director of nutrition education for the Physicians Committee and author of Applying the Precautionary Principle to Nutrition and Cancer guidelines, which was published in the Journal of American College of Nutrition. Carotenoids are colorful pigments found in plants that provide an ample supply of cancer-fighting antioxidants. The Institute of Medicine encourages women to consume 3 to 6 milligrams of betacarotene—a carotenoid in dark green, orange, and red vegetables—each day to reduce the risk of breast cancer. One medium sweet potato contains two to three times the recommended dietary intake of beta-carotene, which will help reduce the risk for cancer and boost the immune system. Other good sources of beta-carotene include:

One cup (cooked) One cup (cooked) One cup (cooked) 12 baby carrots One cup cubed (cooked) One cup (mashed) One cup (sliced) One cup (chopped)

11.3 mg 10.6 mg 10.4 mg 10.1 mg 9.4 mg 5.1 mg 3.2 mg 2.4 mg

In addition to carotenoid-rich vegetables, natural soy products, such as edamame and soy beans, provide protective benefits for cancer prevention and overall health. Women should limit or avoid alcohol, dairy products, and red and processed meat products.

My Journey Janice Parker BREAST CANCER AWARENESS It was soon after I began to PUSH through my pain and TRUST solely in the LORD with all thine heart and choose not to lean to my own understanding!!!!

E

very breast cancer survivor has a story and mine began in September 2012 when I was diagnosed with DCIS (Ductal Carcinoma In Situ). At the time of my diagnosis I was no stranger to cancer, as my mother lost her second battle to breast cancer in 2005. A few years later I lost my aunt; my mothers sister to breast cancer and this past Christmas holiday I lost my first cousin to cancer. Through all of my familiarity with this terrible disease, I still tried to find hope in my father who is a two time cancer survivor of prostate and colon cancer. At the time that my mother was first diagnosed I was clueless about the disease, the treatment options and the emotional support that would be necessary for my family....mainly because my mother choose not to talk about the disease. Unbeknownst to me, her cancer was a "family secret" and it was communicated that we would get through this together as a family. Like many other African-American families, it was well- understood that "what goes on in your house, stays in your house! This of course made it difficult for my family to express emotions and participate in support groups that were available to us. After being diagnosed myself, I begin to grieve and reflect on my mother's journey. I remembered how I felt about her diagnosis and everything

much caffeine. Ladies.....you know what I'm talking about right???? I closely monitored it, but by the time I thought to call the doctor, the tenderness had gone away. I told my husband about this unusual situation and asked him to do a

about it was horrible. She had a double mastectomy which made her feel insecure about her self-image, the most harsh chemotherapy I've every seen and the worst burning you can imagine from radiation. This is what I came to know as breast cancer and there was nothing cute or sexy about it! As most of you are aware, women who are diagnosed experience an array of emotions and they respond to the diagnosis according to their faith, personalities and previous life experiences. The day that my diagnosis was communicated, I could only hear the word “CANCER and everything after that was a blur. The one thing that every breast cancer patient has in common is that this a new personal experience and one that demands prayer and a great deal of physical and emotional energy. In late August of 2012, I realized that something wasn't right concerning my breast. I experienced breast tenderness similar to what's experienced during a menstrual cycle or from too

breast self-exam on me and of course he GLADLY accepted the job! Sadly I had not routinely done breast exams, as I should have...especially considering my family history. The thought of finding a lump overwhelmed me and caused me not

to do it. My husband didn't find anything of concern, however the overwhelming feeling would not leave me alone so I scheduled an appointment hoping for an early mammogram since I wasn't scheduled for my yearly until

I wasn’t scheduled for my yearly until the following month. I know there is much talk about the effectiveness of breast exams, but for this girl, I believe they can save lives! Because I had communicated to the nurse that I had concerns, I was able to bypass the routine screening and go directly to a diagnostic exam.

The results of the diagnostic mammogram led to additional testing including an MRI biopsy. The MRI biopsy was a process in and of itself considering I was claustrophobic and to request medication to be able to even complete the test. Going into this procedure, my faith was strong and I felt no fear and ended up having the first MRI procedure without medication. To God be the Glory!!!! However, something totally unexpected was also seen during this MRI biopsy of my breast; a spot was found on my liver. Now, sadly, I had to prepare for another emotional roller coaster because when my mother’s cancer returned the second time it did so to her liver. I assumed the worst for myself, and my faith began to grow so weary and began to settle in. One Sunday during a church service Pastor Spencer Gibson called a prayer line for those who had an illness themselves or for any absent family members who had illnesses. My mother –inlaw stood proxy in this prayer line this Sunday and told me about it later. Soon after this prayer, I was due to return for a sonogram of my liver to determine what the spot was. My mother-in-law knew of this procedure while standing in prayer for me. During my sonogram appointment, there were many attempts made by two different sonographers, but the spot could not be found. The decision was that it was likely a lesion, a common occurrence on the liver, and my doctors felt good about the outcome and scheduled no further testing at that time. Hallelujah!!!! Shortly before my MRI biopsy I had reluctantly participated in genetic testing known as BRAC 1 and 2 at the urging of my physician due to my family history with cancer. The very same day that I received the great news about the spot on my liver, I lso got a call stating that my genetic test results were back and both were negative for gene mutation. Praise God!!! On this glorious day the Lord responded to all of the prayers that had gone up before me. He not only removed the fear regarding my liver, He also removed the possibility that I could pass a genetically mutated gene to my children and to the future generations of the Parker My surgery was scheduled on a Friday and I was instructed to take the bandages off on Sunday. I waited until everyone was gone to church and I went into my bathroom to remove the bandages. Nothing could have prepared me for that initial sight of my breast. I gasped for air and begin crying un-

family. God’s mercy for me is great!! With all the tests completed and all of my options researched, it was time to make a decision about my care. I carefully selected my team of doctors...surgeon, oncologist and the Chief Physician Jesus!! In October 2012, I had my first lumpectomy to remove the cancerous tumor. Although my doctor felt that my cancer type and stage didn't warrant the need to remove any of my lymph nodes, I began to wonder. Was she making the right decision? Shouldn't she at least test one? When we discussed this, she informed me of the greater risk in removing them for testing, which included the possibility of lymphedema. I was glad the tumor was out, but I had to wait days for my pathology reports to see if my margins were clear. Upon my return to the doctor for my surgery follow-up, I was disappointed to hear that my margins were not clear and another surgery would be necessary. My husband and I had a lot to discuss, including the decision as to whether we would move forward with another lumpectomy vs. mastectomy. He ultimately allowed me to make the decision and stated, "I will love you just the same and your breast doesn't define the woman you are." This gave me the confidence that I needed to move forward. I also have a 24-year old daughter who watched my every move and every decision. She had often questioned if she was next to be diagnosed. I was determined to educate her so that she didn't live in fear and I shared my experiences and thoughts about breast cancer in hopes that she can share her knowledge about the disease to other young women, as I had declared, this was no longer a "family secret". I decided on a second lumpectomy and scheduled it approximately 30 days after the first surgery!

controllably and immediately begin to regret my decision not to have a mastectomy. The initial sight of the breast looked as though half of it had been removed. I immediately thought this is what true breast cancer surgery looks like. I had been so amazed of my surgeon up until this point and had bragged to everyone about how

awesome of a job she had done on the first surgery. I now began to rethink that and became bitter and couldn't wait to see her at my next appointment to tell her she wasn't as great as I thought. I couldn't stomach the sight of my breast and for the next week I avoided looking at my breast and I didn’t let my husband see it either. Even when putting on my

My hope was to also provide better care for the future generations to come!!!!!!!! a horrible job she had done and how much I was disappointed in her for advising me to have breast conservation surgery. Still in the exam room I managed to get undressed and still had not looked at my breast. She walked in with her bubbly spirit and proceeded to ask how everything was going and I took that opportunity to say....."Girl, this ain't right." She asked what was I talking about. She examined me and said "it looks good". I thought to myself how dare her appease me with the poor job she had done. She encouraged me to stand up and look in the mirror myself. When I stood to look for the first time since removing the bandages, I was surprised to see that the breast looked normal and the indentions that I previously saw were due to swelling. She had used the same incision as she did the first surgery and it looked amazing! Needless to say, I had to repent and go back to family and friends to redeem her reputation. With much resistance and hesitation I decided to participate in a clinical trial for partial breast radiation. I know I know.....who wants to be used for experiment without knowing the outcome and long-term affects to your body. In the AfricanAmerican community, it is rarely talked about because we don't have enough information to make an educated decision, however this is largely due to our lack of participation in clinical trials. Well because I made the commitment at the start of my journey to become an agent of change for my family and my community, my prayer was that the clinical trial would help researchers to better understand how to treat women of color. My hope was to also provide better care for the future generations to come. At my first radiation appointment I felt like I was starting at the beginning and not the end. The recommendation for my radiation was for 6 1/2 weeks, MondayFriday. I was back on the emotional roller coaster because everything I've ever heard or seen about radiation was very unpleasurable. My mind began to think back to what my that nightly the devil tormented me about my family history, that my mind was weary and my body was fatigued, that I'd planned my own funeral and wrote my own obituary. I continued on with life when around them as if nothing was wrong, as I

mother looked like while going through radiation and I just didn't want to do this. After hearing the recommendations, I left the office calling my husband and telling him that radiation wasn't the choice for me, but God reminded me that my care was in HIS hands. With that I started my first day of radiation treatment January 7th 2013. The goal of radiation therapy was to destroy any remaining cells to prevent future recurrence. Prior to the start of radiation, most of as survivors and co-survivors know that you get "mapped" out with removable stickers that marked the location for radiation. I thought many times should I move this "x" on my chest over more...are they too close to my heart? Growing up in my family, I always heard that radiation treatments can damage your heart or lungs so I wanted to ensure that the radiation was as far from my heart as possible, even if that meant undermining my medical teams’ expertise. I decided not to move anything and I later learned that the mapping is designed so that the radiation is done farthest away from your vital organs as possible. I wasn’t 100% convinced ..... but I trusted God! During my weeks of daily radiation treatment, I found a new family. While we ladies waited in the dressing room, we talked about work, family, and our medical concerns and, of course, we could always find someone to share the Lord with. All the while of going through radiation, I continued to "show"my family and friends that I had strength by caring on everyday with household chores and everyday conversation. Never sharing with them all the pain and burdens that were upon me. I never told them

knew that family and fiends would take my lead and if I APPEARED strong than they would as well. One day while preparing for my daily 4pm radiation appointment, I was determined to give up and I sat

in my car in my garage crying and crying to talk myself out of not going for another treatment; the burning had become so painful and I flat out was just tired of everything. When I arrived at the sight I sat in the parking lot sobbing in my car trying to find a

a reason why I shouldn't be here. I gathered my composure and walked inside and when I saw my technician she saw the look on my face, without saying a word, she held me in her arms and comforted me as if she knew and understood everything that had proceeded. She gave me hope that “this too shall pass” and that I would be the better for it! It was soon after I began to PUSH through my pain and TRUST solely in the LORD with all thine heart and choose not to lean to my own understanding!!!! I came home from treatment and sent a text to my entire family and started like this....."Effective today, I will cook, clean and do laundry when I feel like it. Please don't expect nothing more of me because I am a fighting for my life, physically, emotionally and spiritually. I have to reclaim God's promise for my life and in order to do that I have to focus on my well-being and not yours"! My family later confirmed that they were unaware of what I was going through and was amazed at my strength. God's Word tells us to search for peace, and seek it eagerly. He told me to no longer be double minded. Believing in Him today and doubting tomorrow. I wasted no time in doing so, and over the next week or so, I begin to tear down the strongholds over my mind!!! Beware that when a survivor tells you that they are okay all the time, it is likely because they want to appear stronger than they really are. My treatment ended February 23, 2013 and I'm grateful for the blessing of approaching my 2 year cancer free milestone! Although the days of my journey were very inconsistent, the support and prayers of family and friends never changed. God called me salt of the earth because I have influence to change they way people view breast cancer, especially in my community. God has given me delegated influence. God doesn't give you things for yourself. They're given as a part of the Kingdom's agenda. He knew I needed my health for the Kingdom's agenda, so He gave me my healing with AN AGENDA!

Here is what I learned from this process and journey: there is power in prayer, and God saw the survivor in me and knew that I had the strength to educate and empower others about breast health and to speak out about how it affects my communi-

ty. What may seem like a disaster is really for direction. You go through trials to be able to testify of HIS goodness. I also learned that just as important as finding a CURE is knowing the CAUSE. We must do a better job of educating ourselves and our loved ones on how to properly care for our bodies. Start today by making better food choices and committing to exercise daily. Did you know that daily exercise can decrease your chances of breast cancer by 50%? That's greater than chances of chemo therapy!!! God has ministered to my fears and turned my pain into passion. Though cancer is not something anyone chooses to have, I've decided that I am going to use this experience for God’s intended purpose. I know that God has taken me down this road to learn many new life lessons, but I'm most honored that he has chosen me. I want every survivor to know, regardless of what you've survived in life...abuse, drug addiction, heart attack or whatever, please know that everything about your past fits into your purpose!!! As a believer I know that everything is ordered by God and that he uses our situations to drive us to purpose. I'm here today on purpose! My purpose is to educate others by spreading His word to save lives.

WHAT SEPERATES US FROM THE HAVE AND HAVE NOTS What separates the haves from the have not's? Why do some of us become millionaires, even billionaires, while the majority of the rest of us barely get beyond just making ends meet? According to a new book by success scholar and author Dr. Dennis Kimbro, it’s not luck, superior intelligence or connections. The answer is simple, if not easy: those who acquire great wealth had to choose to be wealthy.

known wealthy African Americans such as Radio One Founder Cathy Hughes and entertainment mogul Tyler Perry, as well as lesser known (unless you are a loyal, long-time reader of Black Enterprise) Black millionaires including Darden Restaurants CEO Clarence Otis and Centennial One Inc. Founder Lillian Lincoln Lambert. In so doing, he identifies the millionaire mindset, lifestyle choices and priorities that result from that choice long before actual wealth is achieved.

That’s the primary point of Kimbro’s new book, The Wealth Choice: Success Secrets of Black Millionaires, a result of his extensive study of one thousand of the 35,000 African American millionaires, multimillionaires and billionaires in America. Using personal interviews, statistics and existing studies on wealth accumulation, Kimbro, the author of bestsellers including the classic Think And Grow Rich: A Black Choice, makes a compelling case that attaining millionaire status is a matter of not chance, but choice. It’s filled with intimate insights and powerful advice from wella entrepreneurs, and celebrities like Bob Johnson, Spike Lee, L. A. Reid, Herman Cain, T. D. Jakes and Tyrese Gibson found their paths to wealth; what they did or didn't learn bout money early on; what they had to sacrifice to get to the top; and the role of discipline in managing their

It’s no secret that these hard times have been even harder for the Black community. Approximately 35 percent of African Americans had no measurable assets in 2009, and 24 percent of these same households had only a motor vehicle. Dennis Kimbro, observing how the weight of the continuing housing and credit crises disproportionately impacts the African-American community, takes a sharp look at a carefully cultivated group of individuals who’ve scaled the heights of success and how others can emulate them. Based on a seven year study of 1000 of the wealthiest African Americans, The Wealth Choice offers a trove of sound and surprising advice about climbing the economic ladder, even when the odds seem stacked against you. Readers will learn about how business leaders, entrepreneurs, and celebrities like Bob Johnson,

success. Through these stories, which include men and women at every stage of life and in every industry, Dennis Kimbro shows readers how to:

· Commit to lifelong learning

Develop a wealth-generating mindset and habits

Take calculated risks when opportunity presents itself .

· Craft goals that match your passion · Make short-term sacrifices for long -term gain.

Wealthy Mind Investment Terms What is the S&P 500 The S&P 500 is short for the Standard and Poor 500. It is a stock market index that seeks to represent the whole stock market. It tracks the 500 most widely held stocks on the NYSE. By tracking 500 stocks, it seeks to reflect the risk and return of all large cap companies. However, it also is used as a proxy for all of the total stock market. The total market cap of the S&P 500 was $10.7 trillion. The S&P 500 also seeks to make sure the industry sectors in the S&P 500 represent the industries in the economy. The S&P 500, like any measurement of the stock market, is often used as an economic indicator of how well the US economy is doing. If investors are confident in the economy, they will buy stocks. What is a Brokerage Account?

The first step to building your portfolio is to open a brokerage account. These accounts allow you to purchase stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and other investments by paying professionals to buy or sell the items you tell them to. The fee you pay them is called a "commission", and can range from as low as $5 to $10 dollars, to upwards of several hundred dollars. The price difference arises when you choose between either a discount or traditional broker. Traditional brokerages provide a wider range of services, and have the price tag to match. They serve along the lines of professional money managers and can offer advice as to what investments might be right for you. Discount brokers are companies that tailor to the more self-directed investor; they don't offer advice as to what to put your money into, leaving you to make your own financial decisions and charging you much less than their traditional counterparts. Some firms, such as Charles Schwab and Merrill Lynch, offer both services to their customers, allowing them to choose between the traditional and discount formats.

What are Stocks? The Definition of a Stock Plain and simple, stock is a share in the ownership of a company. Stock represents a claim on the company's assets and earnings.

What are Bonds? A bond is a debt security, similar to an IOU. Borrowers issue bonds to raise money from investors willing to lend them money for a certain amount of time. When you buy a bond, you are lending to the issuer, which may be a government, municipality, or corporation.

What are Shares? A unit of ownership interest in a corporation or financial asset. While owning shares in a business does not mean that the shareholder has direct control over the business's day-to-day operations, being a shareholder does entitle the possessor to an equal distribution in any profits, if any are declared in the form of dividends. The two main types of shares are common shares and preferred shares. a part or portion of a larger amount that is divided among a number of people, or to which a number of people contribute. " THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STOCKS AND SHARE IS stock"is a general term used to describe the ownership certificates of any company, in general, and "shares"refers to a the ownership certificates of a particular company. Bottom line, stocks and shares are the same thing. The minor distinction between stocks and shares is usually overlooked, and it has more to do with syntax than financial or legal accuracy.

What are Annuities?

An annuity is a contract between you and an insurance company that requires the insurer to make payments to you, either immediately or in the future. You buy an annuity by making either a single payment or a series of payments. Similarly, your payout may come either as one lump-sum payment or as a series of payments over time. Why do people buy annuities? People typically buy annuities to help manage their income in retirement. Annuities provide three things: Periodic payments for a specific amount of time. This may be for the rest of your life, or the life of your spouse or another person. Death benefits. If you die before you start receiving payments, the person you name as your beneficiary receives a specific payment. Tax-deferred growth. You pay no taxes on the income and investment gains from your annuity until you withdraw the money. What kinds of annuities are there?

There are three basic types of annuities, fixed, variable and indexed. Here is how they work: Fixed annuity. The insurance company promises you a minimum rate of interest and a fixed amount of periodic payments. Fixed annuities are regulated by state insurance commissioners. Please check with your state insurance commission about the risks and benefits of fixed annuities and to confirm that your insurance broker is registered to sell insurance in your state. Variable annuity. The insurance company allows you to direct your annuity payments to different investment options, usually mutual funds. Your payout will vary depending on how much you put in, the rate of return on your investments, and expenses. The SEC regulates variable annuities. Indexed annuity. This annuity combines features of securities and insurance products. The insurance company credits you with a return that is based on a stock market index, such as the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index. Indexed annuities are regulated by state insurance commissioner.

What are Mutual Funds? A mutual fund is a company that pools money from many investors and invests the money in securities such as stocks, bonds, and short-term debt. The combined holdings of the mutual fund are known as its portfolio. Investors buy shares in mutual funds. Each share represents an investor’s part ownership in the fund and the income it generates. Why do people buy mutual funds? Mutual funds are a popular choice among investors because they generally offer the following features: Professional Management. The fund managers do the research for you. They select the securities and monitor the performance. Diversification or “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” Mutual funds typically invest in a range of companies and industries. This helps to lower your risk if one company fails. Affordability. Most mutual funds set a relatively low dollar amount for initial investment and subsequent purchases. There are more that you can learn about by just googling Mutual Funds.

What are Hedge Funds? Hedge funds pool money from investors and invest in securities or other types of investments with the goal of getting positive returns. Hedge funds are not regulated as heavily as mutual funds and generally have more leeway than mutual funds to pursue investments and strategies that may increase the risk of investment losses. Hedge funds are limited to wealthier investors who can afford the higher fees and risks of hedge fund investing, and institutional investors, including pension funds

What are Certificates of Deposits?

.

A certificate of deposit (CD) is a savings account that holds a fixed amount of money for a fixed period of time, such as six months, one year, or five years, and in exchange, the issuing bank pays interest. When you cash in or redeem your CD, you receive the money you originally invested plus any interest. Certificates of deposit are considered to be one of the safest savings options. A CD bought through a federally insured bank is insured up to $250,000. The $250,000 insurance covers all accounts in your name at the same bank, not each CD or account you have at the bank.

DEMEANOR REPRESENTS THE LIGHT forms every shadow can take on. IF DARKNESS WAS A LEGITIMATE ENTITY IT COULD REMAIN IF IT WANTED TO ON ITS OWN, THE ONLY WAY DARKNESS EXIST IS IN THE ABSENCE OF LIGHT. JESUS BEQUEATH UNTO THE CHRISTIAN HIS LIGHT IN SAYING, “YE ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD,” (JN.5:14) THAT MEANS IT IS A MATTER OF TURNING ON THE LIGHT TO CHANGE THE CONDITIONS OF DARKNESS. IT IS A PART OF THE TRANSFORMATION"

A light bulb does not give light because of the bulb, it is because of the filament inside of the bulb.

Once the light switch is turned on darkness does not remain, it is every indication that darkness does not even rule the night. SPIRIT SOUL & BODY Understanding Health and fitness we must note mans capacity, his make up, who he is, and where he came from so in short....After making man there was only a dead, lifeless body there, until God blew the breath of Himself into the body.

It was night when Jesus showed up in the storm at sea during which the disciples were terrified. They doubted Jesus was who He said He was, such as is the night, it explains our own terror in the night, the different forms every shadow can take on.

COURAGE/COVER I’m sure many of us have heard about the storm and Peter walking on the water but what we have to remember is that Light was still dominant in the midst of the adversity, its strength was still predominant, in control, sovereign and preeminent, it reign supreme. IN THIS INSTANCE WE SEE HOW OUR DEMEANOR GIVES US DIRECTION AND GUIDANCE. An awesome reminder that even when we fail, miracles are still possible, Like Peter, it is a matter of turning on the light or sometimes just “be light.” God’s

When He did, He blew what the Hebrew calls, “Chayim” the breath of “LIVES” plural, because man became SPIRIT-SOUL-BODY. It was parity, similarity with a “CONDITION” with respect to a mirrored image, as God is, Omnipotent-Omniscient and Omnipresent a

likeness. If God is Spirit and blew the breath of Himself into man, there had to be a point where the ethereal aspect of God’s nature established the symbiosis between flesh and that which is spirit. HOW? By virtue of being LIGHT, God describes Himself as

Light", the original man created as black, his melanin was able to absorb “LIGHT,” THEREBY CREATING A MEANS OF COMMUNICATION THAT WAS BEYOND WORDS. That would make anatomically organs, tissue, nerves, muscle, the flow and creation of blood under the authority of WHAT and WHO was blown into it. If the original man, as science have finally concluded was black and originated in Africa, there are some things too wonderful for words, that God created in that origination. Since everything that exist came out of the earth and man was formed from the same substance, it would mean those same qualities and possibilities are in him. time doesn't permit but when u have your quiet moments read Gen. 1:26 where it talks about five things God gave man dominion over, There are some Particular Methods you must follow read it for yourself. But it is more than just that, it was man that brought everything that is out of the earth, to create everything that does exist by the wisdom of God. But additionally, he had God blow the breath of Himself into man which gave him greater qualities than what the earth possessed for God also breath into the earth.

The substance God made man of had to have the Capacity to contain what He would blow into man and as well as the capability to perform His intended purpose. Everything God said to man to do was built into him just like an oak tree is in an acorn (seed). That substance possessed the capacity and capability to produce what would fill the earth in a supernatural manner providing it had the spirit it was created with. The bible says God both made man and created him, which is right, both are, He made man out of the dust of the earth and created him when He blew the breath of life into him. This is one of the reasons why there is tremendous suspicion on what happens to blood black people give in laboratory testing from doctors and hospitals. Melanin gives humans the ability to feel and is a chemical key to life, it is the absorb-

In 1960 NASA commissioned Dr. James Lovelock, a British scientist to study whether life was possible on planets as it is on earth. His findings were startling accurate with bible, “he said no other life was possible on any other planet,” there goes the “Alien Theory. The study of Adams name authenticates God's creative work. Which is you as him. The problem with Lovelock in finding the truth he didn’t allow the light to give him the rest of the revelation.

After the original sin of Adam and the Spirit of the Lord departed from him, leaving the dominant significance in him, what he was made of and that was his Melanin. At which time would be, he and all his off springs, possessing the same quality and essential nature or fundamental essence in melanin. If flesh cannot stand in the presence of God, the vessel had to have the substance that was able to absorb the “LIGHT” of God’s glorious presence. Melanin simply has a universal role, melanin recessive people have very small amounts of it, but retain some, it has a huge role in God’s original intent, such as the ability to heal, since disease starts with a lack of light, which melanin absorbs.

er of all frequencies of energy and is one of the reasons people lived so long during bible days. Melanated people tend to aged better and slower, it would suggest to an adversary, that measures be taken to alter that process, introducing ways

and means to hasten disease, destruction and death. Nevertheless, God has purpose on it, through an everlasting covenant, with the provision it assist the will and purpose of God in the last days. More in next issue.

Report: Dropout Rate Hits Record Low Thanks To Blacks And Latinos

ARTICLE BY Donovan X. Ramsey

Here’s some good news you probably won’t read a lot about: Black and Latino students have cut their dropout rates by more than half over the past ten years. Black students have nearly closed the gap with white students with just 8% leaving high school last year. According to a new Pew Research Center report, these declines have driven the lowest U.S. drop-

out rate ever recorded, with just 7% of 18- to 24-year-olds leaving school in the last year. Read more from Pew. This good news raises a lot of interesting questions, namely, why is it so underreported and why does the media put so much attention on the failings of Black youth instead of investigating what interventions have driven the increase in high school graduation.

COMMENTS Obviously, the decrease of the dropout rate among black people in high school is a good thing. In our time, we have many programs helping the youth. Many after school programs have readily helped black youth to not only improve their academic performance, but cause many young people to be more well-rounded. Strong black parents have made a huge difference in the improvement of the black graduation rate in high schools too. Many in the mainstream media are less apt to report on any good news on the black community, because some in that world just embrace false stereotypes about black people and for other reasons. Obviously, more should be done like more mentorships existing, more promotion of apprenticeships, confronting poverty should be a priority too, and more of our youth need to be more educated on our real history and our real culture. Its also important to note that the proliferation of information on the internet was a big game changer. Since reading is fundamental to learning, using the net requires a person to read. Black people who love social networking, took the World Wide Web like moths to a flame, and when reading was required, they did it. This exposure to outside culture other than what existed in the black community, also exposed black students to more diverse educational opportunities and earning experiences that can only help Expand ones mind. More black families are focusing on education as

a way to get over the BS of years of oppression and racial division. All these factors contribute to the ultimate success of our people. CourtneyrrR • Great Job Keep it uo!

Boko Haram To Release Chibok Girls, Agree To Ceasefire According to Nigerian government officials, in addition to the ceasefire, the nearly 300 schoolgirls — who were kidnapped as they took exams in Chibok — will be released, reports the BBC. Nigerian presidential aide Hassan Tukur told BBC Focus on Africa that

the agreement was sealed after a month of negotiations, mediated by Chad.

Mr Tukur said Boko Haram had announced a unilateral ceasefire on Thursday and the government had responded.

As part of the talks, a government delegation twice met representatives of the Islamist group.

“They’ve assured us they have the girls and they will release them,” he said. “I am cautiously optimistic.”
