editor's note We're back and better than ever!. Let me first say that it is awesome to be back in the game! After going through some growing pains, I have a new team (not completely new) and we are all ready to get this train rolling again. With everything that is going on in the world today, from the COVID-19 pandemic to the scores of protests occuring throughout the country in response to the murder of Minneapolis resident George Floyd and a countless number of black men and women who are not longer with us, I have had nothing but time to reflect on the current state of affairs. Life has been, to say the least, unsettling over the past few months. For everyone on some level. However, those of us in the planner community continue to share a common bond - a passion for planning. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy this brand new issue. We are so glad you're here! Happy Planning! Keisha

PANDEMIC PLANNING: PLANNING WITH COVID-19 by Keisha Greene

I don't know about you, but my planners have definitely seen better days. With the hustle and bustle of daily life, I used a total of 13 planners this year. Before the onslaught of COVID-18, that is. I know what you're thinking - 13 planners is a bit excessive. For me, it was just enough. I had one for home life, one for social media, one for faith planning, one for work...the list goes on. You see, I have issues with short-term (and long term, too, for that matter) memory. On any given day, my laptop has no less than 10 tabs open at a time. So those 13 planners are like those open tabs in my computer's

browser. Each one has a very specific purpose. Each planner represents one of the open tabs inside my head. As a wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and allaround crafter, I need all the help I can get. Using them was a lot of work but very much worth it. That was how I felt in March. Fast forward 3 months. Today, I have one planner that I struggle to use. COVID-19 has upended all of our lives, and that reality is not lost upon us in the planner community. It started with nationwide stay-at-home orders. Then came teleworking and homeschooling and social

“My days of planning out a multitude of weekly tasks became virtually nonexistent.

During the first month of my city's stay-at-home orders, I didn't touch my planner. After all, there was barely anything for me to plan out. As a result, I lost my planning mojo. I quickly discovered that I was not alone. I began reaching out to others in the planner community to find out the answer to this question: How do you use your planner(s) when you have nothing to plan for? I mean, I have hundreds of product just sitting in my carts. Of course, life will resume, albeit markedly different, so the opportunity to once again plan life will come. But for right now, I needed a plan to continue planning (yes, pun is intended). Let me start by offerring two pieces of advice. First, give yourself grace. If you really don't want to plan, then don't do it. There is no reason to feel guilty about using your planner if the desire just is not there. Forcing the issue may even cause you to lose your love for planning altogether. Second, if inspiration is what you are missing, spend some time watching YouTube videos and browsing Instagram feeds. You are sure to find dozens of planner pages that will spark your creativity. And most importantly, do not compare yourself to other planners.

Of course, life will resume, albeit markedly different, so the opportunity to once again plan life will come. Here are a few things to fill your planner in these uncertain days: Journal your experience Work on handwriting or creative lettering Create a garden log Reading log TV/Nexflix/Movie tracker Track a habit you want to start or stop Track your daily interactions with others Record your city/state health statistics Write down inspirational quotes Daily food log Workout schedule Recipe planning Daily to-do lists/chores

would like to do for yourself this week or this month. These can be things like reading, crafting, hiking, praying, or having a girls’ night out. Exercising is included here too, but I think fitness plans usually make it into the planners.

these—are all the above and more! In all our planning, we can’t forget the one who will be doing all these tasks in the plans —our very selves! Yes, you and me. I’m talking about planning for yourself just as diligently as you plan for everything else. When I first started planning my personal time, it felt awkward, quite honestly. Personal time was something that I squeezed in wherever there was extra time. I didn’t feel the need to use up space in my planner for something that I didn’t put first or something I would renege on when my schedule was too busy. After writing personal time into my planner consistently, that section moved more towards the forefront of my mind! I think it has to do with valuing or deeming important the things we schedule. So, where to start?

Start with just thinking about it! Think of maybe three to five things (or more) that you

tasks. Sometimes the personal section may only have something for two or three days. I’m okay with this because those empty boxes become decoration opportunities! Speaking of decorating… Make this personal time section the most attractive section to you! I try to create a vibe with the stickers I use. I love the Happy Planner® Wellness Classic Value Sticker Pack and Happy Planner® Wellness Classic Value Sticker Pack because the sticker topics are so extensive. They really cover a wide range of interests. I jump back and forth between these sticker packs and the Happy Planner® Faith Classic Value Sticker Pack. Lastly, look forward to your planned personal time. Sometimes, looking at your planner and seeing something like “bubble bath” or “nature walk” can give you a sense of peace or that there’s a reward at the end of a long day or week. So, take the time to pencil YOU in.

7 SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO GROW YOUR PLANNER INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT

By Tomeca Hardin-Howard IG CheAsyPlanning

1. Clean up your feed if you just started your account it would be a great idea to start with 9 photos. Make sure you have good lighting because it makes a big difference. You can put your planners on top of a white poster board to create the white background. Lighting is important because you want people to be able to see your photos. If you have already started your planner account you can clean up your feed by archiving your old photos as you replace them with new ones. It may be a good idea to look at one of your favorite planner accounts and see how they post on their feed. Ask questions maybe to get some advice.

2. Hashtags are very important so make sure you use the right hashtags for your posts. It’s ok to look at other account posts and see what hashtags they are using. They have popular ones it’s important to do some research it will pay off in the long run. 3. Engage with your community. Check on your account daily or often enough to respond to comments on your posts. Also, remember to like and comment on other posts in the planner community. It’s a great way to meet some amazing people who share the same hobby as you do.

4. Giveaways are a great way to get more followers. If you don’t know how to word your giveaway look at other examples in the community of planners. It does not have to be anything expensive. When you see items on sale you can grab a few extra and start like a giveaway stash. Make it fun I love to give away items that I like for myself. 5. Post daily if possible for the first year. I got this wonderful advice from an amazing planner babe. So, I decided to post 2 times a day and try to make your times consistent if possible. Like I would post at night before bed and once in the morning. I wanted to grow my account and I didn’t mind making posts. I thought it would be easy but it wasn’t at first. I actually have several planners so I had the content. I just had to work on my photos. If you are wondering what you could possibly post once a day here are some examples: Before the pen, After the pen, Weekly spread or one side of the spread, pictures of your planners or stickers just to name a few. 6. Change your account to a business account this helped me tremendously. It is very useful it gave

me a lot helpful information. Just to name a few profile visits, times when my posts was most looked at, how many accounts were reached and how many shares etc…It will ask you to start a Facebook account as well so that is up to you. When you make a business account it gives you the opportunity to be put in a category right under your name. There are different websites you can use to get the IG fonts. The one that I used is called lingojam.com. You can type what you want and it will give you different fonts and you can copy and paste into your bio.

No one likes to create under pressure and hobbies are meant to be fun. I know for me planning helps me to relax.

7. Use your stories to post in as well when you feel comfortable. You can always use YouTube for any information you may have questions about like How To…..But most importantly remember to have fun. No one likes to create under pressure and hobbies are meant to be fun. I know for me planning helps me to relax. I hope these tips can help you with your desire to grow your Instagram account.
