THE 6TH ANNUAL
TUCSON SCULPTURE FESTIVAL 2015 FEBRUARY 1–14TH, 2015 • 11AM - 6PM
Due to the increasing popularity of this amazing exhibition of fine art sculpture, it has now attracted artists from Texas, California, Germany and China. The venues this year included 4 exhibition galleries. The Art Gallery, Sculpture Resource Center, and two prestigious new galleries- Moen Mason Gallery and the Granada Gallery.
THE ART GALLERY
The quality of art exhibited in the 2015 Festival is some of the best ever for the Tucson area and included every type imaginable from prehistoric artifacts, to giant avant-garde paper mache, steel, stone, ceramic and a hoard of mixed media including a giant origami wall sculpture. Many of the artists exhibiting this year have gained international reputations and world-wide collectors.
GRANADA GALLERY
This year's exhibition was hosted by The Drawing Studio of Tucson and by artist Steve Murray's The Art Gallery.

Jeremy Briddle from Xerocraft hackerspace made 3D scans of some of the sculptures He used both the Occipital "Structure Sensor," and the "Matter and Form" 3D scanner. www.structure.io www.matterandform.net 3D scans of the sculptures (including a set of 3D scans of our photographer Dominic!) can be viewed online at: www.sketchfab.com/krrrl/models He also 3D printed some of the scans at the opening with the da Vinci 1.0 3D printer. www.us.xyzprinting.com

Gonzalo Espinosa followed the digital process to create this year's piece "Me and My Big Head.". At the opening of last year's Tucson Sculpture Festival 2014, Moheeb Zara took a 3D scan of Gonzalo. Then Metalphysic (foundry in Tucson) milled Gonzalo's head in Styrofoam, twice life-sized. Gonzalo covered the piece with tissue paper, and submitted it to this year's sculpture festival. Later Jeremy Briddle made a 3D scan of the colorful head sculpture with the Occipital Structure Sensor for the iPad. He uploaded that 3D scan to SketchFab ( www.sketchfab.com/krrrl ) where people can twirl the sculpture around online, both on their computer screens and their smart phones. Finally, during the opening, Jeremy 3D printed Gonzalo's head sculpture on the affordable da Vinci 1.0 3D printer. Isn't the 21st century a strange and uncharted territory?
The Drawing Studio provides art instruction (classes and workshops) and creative inspiration for people of all ages (from 9-90+), and at all levels of experience. In 1992, artist Andrew Rush and twenty art friends began The Drawing Studio in Tucson, Arizona, to offer instruction and fellowship to artists/art students outside traditional institutions.

Since it was first founded in 2005 by local artist Randy Young, The Sculpture Resource Center has served as a cooperative facility where artists at a variety of stages in their careers, and working in every medium, can come together to pool equipment, technique, and ideas. In our ten years we have hosted a number of noted artists, not only from Tucson, but also from all over the country and abroad. We have played an active role in the Tucson arts community through our committed involvement in such events as the All Souls Procession and the Tucson Sculpture Festival (the latter was first established at the SRC as a joint venture between past member Danny Wolverton and Parasol Project). Our unique events, which include the Tucson Erotica annual exhibition, not only showcase local art, but also feature live performance of musicians and variety acts, as well as refreshments by local businesses. Most recently, we have established the W. Arthur Gallery as a dedicated exhibition space on the grounds. You can visit us online at www.sculptureresourcecenter.com and www.warthurgallery.com

During this year's gem & mineral show, a new venue opens its doors to the general public and collectors alike. Granada Gallery presents spectacular fossils, sculptures carved from valuable gemstones, and artistic masterpieces combining creativity and million year old natural treasures. By closing the gap between contemporary design objects and the memory of evolution, Granada Gallery wishes to draw a broader public's attention to the beautiful heritage of mother earth. Its concept is to present artists, united in passion for creative design and work, with natural and valuable materials. Their unique brilliance is understood with every single hand made piece in the exhibition.

GRAnADA GAlleRY A trademark feature of The Granada Gallery is to create a space for inspiring encounters and interactions between artists, connoisseurs, collectors and investors. This year, Granada Gallery is proud to present to the public, the original Archaeopteryx No. 10! This incredible specimen is one of the best preserved from only twelve of its kind discovered worldwide. This paleontological treasure forms the highlight of Tucson's new exciting gallery for fine natural design.
