Preheat oven to 350 degrees

2 ¼ cups unsifted flour 1 teaspoon baking soda ½ cup softened margarine or butter ½ cup shortening 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar ½ cup granulated sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 12 ounce package semi sweet chocolate chips 1 cup chopped nuts

Sift together dry ingredients and set aside In large mixer cream the margarine, shortening, and sugar until creamy. Beat in the eggs and vanilla. Add flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet Bake for 10-12 minutes until light brown
