JC SUMMER Camps 2015 ~ Capturing FUN One Child at a Time! This summer you can discover a variety of 7-week camps, specialty camps, and 1/2 day camps to create your child’s best summer ever. If you’re looking for fitness, nutrition and fun, try our Jump Start JC Camp that is held at Freedom Hall Gymnasium. Teens will adventure this summer at Fairmont Adventure Camp located in the old Fairmont School gymnasium. Nature will take you on incredible journeys to learn about reptiles, geology, and take a closer look at the environment. Learn to dance, sing, and play an instrument as part of our Performing Arts Camps at Princeton Art Center this summer. Think creatively at our Art Camp, also held at Princeton Arts Center. Summer camps will be packed full of team building activities, group initiatives, physical fitness activities, and much more! Registration: on-line registration begins on Wed, April 1. You can register at the following locations: Carver Recreation Center, Memorial Park Community Center, Princeton Arts Center, and Winged Deer Park. Online registration begins April 1 at www.myjcparks.org Each registrant must complete a Registration Form and all fees must be paid in full before acceptance into camp. A copy of your child’s Birth Certificate must accompany each registration form for walk-in registrations. Refunds will not be issued after camp begins, unless it is due to a medical reason. Medical refunds must be accompanied by a doctor’s recommendation.
7-Weeks of Fun Camp ̴ June 8 - July 24 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Open to Ages: 6-12 Early drop-off (7:30 a.m.) Late pick-up (5:30 p.m.) - $20 extra per week
Jump Start JC Camp Location: Freedom Hall Auxiliary Gymnasium, 1320 Pactolas Rd. Camp Fee: $200 per camper Description: This 7-week fitness and nutrition camp will be sure to “Jump Start” your child’s summer. Campers will develop agility and motor proficiency fundamentals and be introduced to healthy lifestyles that will last beyond camp. Local guest speakers will be attending camp regularly to talk about fitness, teamwork, leadership, respect, and sportsmanship. Each week campers will go on exciting field trips, participate in swimming, and enjoy arts and crafts. Campers will be put in an age appropriate group, campers will receive a t-shirt for their participation. Camp is limited to 80 participants.
Carver Recreation Camp Location: Carver Recreation Center, 322 W. Watauga Ave. (423) 461-8830 Camp Fee: $120 per camper Description: Campers will experience field trips, weekly art activities, team building, and physical fitness activities. Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day. Campers will receive a camp t-shirt.
Specialty Camps ̴ June 8 - July 18 Mini Jump Start Preschool Summer Camp Location: Memorial Park Community Center Date: June 9-July 2 Time: Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays 9 a.m.-1 pm. 7:30 a.m. (Optional Early Drop Off) Ages: 3-5 years old (must be 3 before the first day of camp) Cost: $100/Summer, $20/wk (Optional Early Drop Off) Maximum: 15 kids Minimum (to hold camp): 5 kids Description: Get your child’s summer started right by enrolling them into our Mini Jump Start JC Camp. Campers will engage in exciting games, arts and crafts, swim lessons, and basic sports skills. Please wear appropriate clothes because we are going to get wet and messy! This camp is a great bridge for kids already in preschool and a great introduction for those entering preschool or starting kindergarten. Lunch will be provided. Child MUST be potty trained.

Fairmont Adventure Camp ̴ June 29 - July 24 Fairmont Adventure Camp (4 weeks) Location: Fairmont Gym Date: June 29-July 24 Time: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Ages: 13-16 Cost: $85 Description: If you are looking for a cool camp for your summer experience, register for Fairmont’s ADVENTURE CAMP! The adventure begins on the very first day!!! Camp starts off by creating your own themed t-shirt and a trip to Laurel Falls for exciting times. Experience water rafting, theater, historic sites, caving, paddle boarding, kayaking, archery competition, job training ideas, and a tour of the ETSU medical school. If art is your interest, be sure to attend our trip to Founders Park for a tour of sculptures, learn about artists and play a little Frisbee tag. If you love water sports, we will have that too!!. Lunch will be provided each day of camp. Maximum: 35
Art Camps ̴ June 8 - July 13 BIG Top Art Camp Location: Princeton Art Center Date: June 8-12 Time: 9-1pm Ages: 6-12 Fee: $40 (NO BEFORE OR AFTER CARE) Max Campers: 25 Description: Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, children of all ages! Step right up! Come one; come all to a big top adventure at this circus themed art camp. Be the ringmaster of your imagination! We will create our version of THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH with our art projects. We will make puppets, tame lions (lines), learn to juggle, clown face painting, Paper Mache pots, and have yummy circus food.
PLAYtime Art Camp Location: Princeton Art Center Date: June 22-26 Time: 9-1pm Ages: 6-12 Description: Get a backstage pass to fun at PLAYtime art camp where PLAY stands for Performance! Laughter! Art! And YOU! We will paint a backdrop, write a poem and perform for our campmates, learn to move through a scene, and lots more activities centered around our Theatre theme. Mess Makers Location: Princeton Art Center Date: July 13-17 Time: 9-4pm Ages: 6-12 Description: Attention Lab Rats and Mad Scientists! Join us in the lab for Mess Makers Camp – The Science of Art. Put your goggles on. We will make our own art supplies by mixing and measuring food items to create marsh mellow sculptures, self-portraits with static hair balloons, and watercolor paintings using droppers. Fee: $75 (Before and after care $20) Max Campers: 25

Nature Camps ̴ 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Habitat Explorers Location: Robert Young Cabin, Winged Deer Park Date: June 8-12 Ages: 7-12 Cost: $75 Description: Discover the creatures that call some of our city parks home. Campers will learn as they wind through forests and explore wetlands in search of wildlife. We will meet snakes, turtles, frogs, toads, salamanders, insects and spiders ;and pay careful attention to where they live. We will explore the classic wetlands and the hardwood trail at the Jacobs Nature Park at Sinking Creek and then cool off in Legion Street pool on our field trip day.
Wildlife Detectives Location: Robert Young Cabin, Winged Deer Park Date: June 15-19 Ages: 7-12 Cost $75 Description: Campers will discover the adaptations of animals that are found in our travels which allow them to find food instead of becoming food. Study skulls and fossils of native species. With animal tracking, sounds, homes, food, scat and more, we will begin to learn to identify animals from the signs they leave. Learn the “Leave No Trace” principles. On our field trip, we’ll head to Buffalo Mountain Park, hike to Huckleberry Knob then down to Catbird Creek to use our sleuthing skills and find some salamanders and crayfish.
Junior Naturalist Explorers Location: Robert Young Cabin, Winged Deer Park Date: June 22-26 Ages: 7-12 Cost: $75 Description: Do you have the fever like I do? If you are truly a child that loves to spend their time outdoors and think that someday you would like to try and get a “nature job,” then this is for you. Guest speakers will tell about their jobs and how they spent their free time when they were kids. Hear from folks such as Park Rangers, Fishing Guides, Master Gardeners, Naturalists, Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency, Tennessee Department of Conservation, a Greenhouse owner and others, who will discuss their jobs and then treat us to a one of their favorite programs. Then we are off to Rock Creek for a
dip in the cement pond after a bit of stream exploring.
Wilderness Survival Camp Location: Robert Young Cabin, Winged Deer Park Date: July 6-10 Ages: 7-12 Cost: $75 Description: This is the Stuff, and attitude is everything! We will learn skills such as starting a fire when there are no matches, shelter building, signals to attract rescuers, consideration of safe food and water preparation and more. As we hike, we will study I interesting plants and animals that we find on the trails as they relate to survival. Our field trip will take us to Rock Creek for stream exploration and a cool down dip in the pool.
Tennessee Nature-Past and Present Location: Robert Young Cabin, Winged Deer Park Date: July 13-17 Ages: 7–12 Cost: $75 Description: Campers will spend time in the woods, trails and lakefront of Winged Deer Park. Systems within the natural world will be studied as we explore habitats, food webs, the incredible water cycle and more. Some of our guest speakers will speak from the perspective of Native American and Frontiersmen explaining how nature provided all. We will hike part of the Laurels Trail and eat our lunch on a bridge over the stream, then splash around as we look to see what we can find.
Summer Nature Camp Out Location: Robert Young Cabin, Winged Deer Park Date: July 18-19 Time: 6 p.m.– Saturday—8:30 a.m. Sunday Cost: $6, Limit: 20 Description: Help us celebrate at our final summer nature camp event. This event is open to any child that participated in this summer’s nature camps. Join us for a sleep over outside at the Robert Young Cabin. Campers are responsible for all bedding, air mats, clothing, bug spray, etc. We suggest you wrestle up a tent or share with a camp friend. Pizza and an evening walk followed by s’mores, and stories around the camp fire! Weather permitting.

Football Camp Location: Kermit Tipton Stadium Date: June 8 – June 12 Time: 9 a.m. – Noon Ages: 6-12 Cost: $30 Description: Want to improve your game? Campers will learn the fundamentals of the great game of football. Campers will work on agility, speed, passing, and catching.
Soccer Camp Location: Civitan Park Date: June 15 – June 19 Time: 9 a.m. – Noon Ages: 6-12 Cost: $30 Description: Improve your soccer skills! Campers will work on footwork, agility, passing, kicking, and scoring.
Basketball Camp Location: Memorial Park Community Center Date: June 22- June 26 Time: 9 a.m. – Noon Ages: 6-12 Cost: $30 Description: Think you have game? Join us and show us your skills, learn fundamentals, passing, dribbling, shooting, and enjoy some challenge games.
No Camp – June 29 – July 3 Golf Camp Location: Pine Oaks Golf Course Date: July 6 – 10 Time: 9 a.m. – Noon Ages: 6-12 Cost: $30 Description: Show us your “best swing” and we’ll help you with the “steps to success.” Learn how to hold the club, work stance, techniques for putting, and driving.
Baseball Camp Location: Keystone Park Date: July 13 – 17 Time: 9 a.m. – Noon Ages: 6-12 Cost: $30 Description: So you want to hit one out of the park? Think you’ve got the best throw? Fast at running bases? Join us and show off your skills, learn the proper techniques of the game, work on your passing, throwing, and stance at the plate.
Volleyball Camp Location: Memorial Park Community Center Date: July 20 – 24 Time: 9 a.m. – Noon Ages: 6-12 Cost: $30 Description: Are you ready to jump, set, and spike to success? Our camp will help you work on the game fundamentals along with learning how to play with your teammates.
