TREASURESUNIT 1 First Grade- End Blends Game

End Blends Game Rules Print out and assemble the attached cube. Split students into groups of 6-10. Standing in a circle, the first student rolls the cube. The student must name a word that ends with the blend on the cube. If they cannot think of a blend, they have to “go into the blender� which means they weave in and out of the other students in the circle until they return to their place. They may choose to roll again or ask a friend to help think up a blend. Play continues until each student has had a turn to roll the cube.

TREASURESUNIT 1 Command or Exclamation Board Game Rules Preparation: • Print a copy of the game board and came cards for each partnership in the class. • Cut the game cards along the lines. • Provide each student with a game marker. • Provide a dice/number spinner/number cards (1-6) for each partnership.

To play the game: Place all game cards face down next to the game board. A partner should roll the die (or spin spinner, or pull a number card). The player moves their marker that number of spaces on the game board. The player then pulls a game card from the deck. The player must decide if the sentence is a command or an exclamation. Students should circle which type of sentence it is. They should add the correct punctuation to the game card. Then the player follows the instructions on the card to move their marker on the game board. Player 2 follows in the same fashion. The first player to the finish wins.
