I. WORKSHOP Hua Lamphong, the site for studying ADAPTING THE FUTURE This one week- workshop puts forward as a theme an exploratory design proposal aiming at re-designing the role of a physical network in the city. The project of adapting new elements in a city is today a crucial theme of urban renovation. Hua Lamphong, old station in Bangkok, is studying site. The workshop will rather try to develop architectural strategies being able to achieve a comprehensive, synthetic perspective on problems, focusing on networks capacity of influencing and transforming the form of the city. As a working hypothesis, physical networks of Hua Lumphong will be considered both as infrastructures influencing spatial relationships, and as new material artifacts in becoming that might generate a “new architecture of the city”, connected to contemporary practices and lifestyles or related to new models of life . Starting from the interpretation of the context, choosing the themes, students will be stimulated to elaborate an experimental, culturally sensitive design proposal.
The students was divided into 5 groups including Vietnam and Thai Students in every group. Each group choose following theme(s) to work : 1. Vertical City. 2. Horizontal Landscape. 3. Cultural City. The workshop was organized in three consequent steps, followed by a works final review. • Step 01 _ Mapping, Site analysis • Step 02 _ Concept • Step 03 _ Exploratory Design • Final Review

CONTEXT
? PAST-1916 Hualamphong is the central train station in Thailand with a history of 100s years
PRESENT - 2019 The main station has moved to a new location in Bang Sue Station, so Hua lamphong is a vacant in the city. The completion of MRT Red line ( Bangsue- Payathai-Makkasan) would stimulate the area to become a major transit hub making it the ideal place for a new brave civic project !
FUTURE How the site should be in the future is a big question for goverment, developers and architects ?

HUALAMPHONG MUSEUM We want to change Hua Lamphong into an art exhibition area because Thailand lacks a large art display area for architects. The Hua Lamphong Museum will be the art exhibition center of the year by inviting architects to create pavilion inside which each pavilion will be designed. To represent the annual architecture that represents the future of Bangkok

CULTURAL -Located in and area rich in cultural history -the station is a historical landmark in the area -it’s utmost importance to pressure and develop the region
SOCIETY
Nature
TRAFFIC
- The area has a complex social structure, so a museum with a large area of green space and milti-functional will be an optimal choice - Creating different area as well as different way layers to facilitate movement and experience the landscape
-THE AREA WITH LARGE AMOUNT OF SUNLIGHT , SHIELDING THE AREA IS VERY IMPORTANT. -in thailand people like to run in a park so we put in a running track and biking track that let you exercise around nature like walking in the forest
- On the current map, this large area is like a traffic barrier between the two parts of the city - Create two roads to minimize traffic move at both of the area

THE HUB When the train junction move to Bangsue, Hua Lamphong will certainly be a cultural center. Even though there will be no train anymore, with various transportations like tooktook, taxi, bus and MRT, Hua Lamphong can still be “the transportation hub” anyway. We take this opportunity and called our project as a “small hub” connected directly to Bangsue with (-------function———-) provided. Also, we created the space which will give some information about the interesting places from surrounding area. In addition, all of the idea mentioned before made us realized that it would be better if we can create more “small hub” with the information of some iconic local places provided (and connected directly to Bangsue.) As Thailand has many national iconic symbols, we choose some of them to represent the national identity for each of our hubs including Garuda, Elephant, Siamese fighting fish, Siamese fireback and Golden shower flower. Garuda, the emblem of Thailand which is an ancient and enduring symbol of Thai monarchy, is going to be the main ---(what's the word bro?!)--- and the name of Hua Lamphong hub as this is the first step of our big project.
