Concept When students use the ruler to draw lines or cutting, they usually have some problems like the ruler is too short, hard to take it from the table or sometimes would cut the finger or ruler. As a result, I use a series of design thinking in order to design a more convenient and safer ruler , so that students will have more pleasant experience in using the ruler.

Revise and Sketch With the first design thinking extending lots of different idea, converging them to three more developed concepts. There are a ruler with a track for sliding, sectional oblique ruler and gloves ruler. Finally the idea I adopted is the unique third one, I want to use it to convey the idea “My hand is my ruler.�

Modeling The first shape of the gloves ruler is too intuitive. After discussing with teacher and classmates many times continually and trying many types of the handles. In the end, I adopted an ear shape handle with a simple structure which would be erected under the pressure, and then combine the upward and downward acrylic sheets with it, using the grinder to make the hypotenuse of the ruler, go spray painting and electroplating. It would be the Butterfluler.

start the game, Swiming is a instinctive game. What players have to do is to following the music tempo with the arm wave frequency. Swiming makes you have pleasure underwater with the rhythm of the music. Let's join the Swiming with your friends.

Concept and sketch First, start from the combination of music and swimming, brainstorming the headphones about music and the swimming gear about swimming. Second, combine these two concepts to one through IOT system. At last, modify the feature to make the combination of music and swimming more perfect.

Logo design Swiming is not the typo of swimming but the compound word of ”swimming” and Chinese word “癮”. The logo is the combination of swimming and music. The swimming part is posture of free style and the music part is the dot eighth note. The two part are fused fantastically. Adopt the color of deep water, navy blue, as the standard color.
UI design Adopting the swimming lane as the concept, the upward and downward lines are the symbol of lane ropes. Using the bright yellow and navy blue as the main color hue to design the interface of the game.

The gap between the outer shell and the earmuffs can tie the stripes of the goggles, so the earphone would not have the risk of dropping down. And the material of earmuffs is waterproof, even if the water gets in, the sound quality is still fantastic. When you don’t follow the music frequency, the shell edge of the earphone would glow yellow light to remind you.
The streamline shape of Swiming paddles makes you more fast underwater, and they also allows you to keep a better posture state. They make you has the effect of exercise in the game. The sensors inside can transport the stroke rate to your phone to calculate the scores.
Rendering Originally, I wanted to adopt the concept “Storage” to make the induction bracelet and headphones easy to bring, in view of the overflow of the wearable bracelet, I changed it to swimming paddles which can increase the arm power. And they are also the position where the sensor is put. Then make the shape of the headphones and swimming paddles tend to be streamline to reduce the water resistance.

Reflection 一學期下來,產品設計課大概把一個產品的流程 run 了兩 遍,從一開始的 5WIH, 很多張的 SKETCH,建模還有草模的 製作,經過不斷的討論與修改,最後終於完成了很美的精模。 學期中還參雜了一個工作坊,透過與學長姐的互動,還有設 計方法的應用,也讓我們設計的能力增進了不少,我們這組 甚至拿到了第一名。而在最後的冬展這兩天我覺得才是我學 到最多的,不僅增進了口說講解的能力,透過與使用者的互 動,發現到了我平常不會注意到的事,也有很多學長姐還有 參觀者給我很多寶貴的建議,學期的結束並不代表設計的結 束,我會帶著這些意見繼續往下發展下去,做出更有手感的 尺,也謝謝這學期老師、助教還有同學們的幫忙!
