GRAFFITI ART IS A PART OF URBAN CITY Urban Graphic is one of the expression that the painter want to say. It has a long history, even before paper or fabric invented, human draw or paint on the surface of caves, rocks, trees, etc. Some people say that urban graphic is street art or graffiti art which is painted by spray paint. These days, it became easy to find the art in many cities. It is visual image of graffiti art, and it was the way to communicate between a neglected class of people. However, nowadays it is playing a role of visual communication for public. It is illogical and express passionate emotion.

Reverse Graffiti
Reverse graffiti, also known as clean tagging, dust tagging, grime writing, green een graffiti or clean advertising, is a method d of creating temporary or semi-permanent images on walls or other surfaces by removing moving dirt from a surface. It is often done by removing dirt/dust with the fingertip from windows or other dirty surfaces, such as writing 'wash me' on a dirty vehicle. Others, such as artist Moose, use a cloth h or a high power washer to remove dirt irt on a larger scale.

HACKNEY WICK The area is placed in East London My ½rst impression in Hackney Wick is calm, not many people on the street, many industrial places, lots of graf½ti on the Zall of some buildings, and artistic. Hackney Wick is used to factory districts, and some factories are still running. That is the reason Zhy it has very different atmosphere than the other areas in London. HoZever, Zhen some artists ¾oZ in this area, it started changing. It Zas desolate and dreary before, and noZ it has more energy, vitality. In the past, most of the area of East London represent poverty, high rate of crime, but it became very trendy, hiphop, artistic noZ.

OLYMPIC PARK Olympic park is very close to Hackney Wick, but it has absolutely different atmosphere. First, I see a lot of kids there, and the park is the best playground for them. I see kids very rarely in Hackney wick and they were passing the way not staying and doing something. Most people I saw there was about 18 – 30 ages. It wasn’t safe for kids without their parents, but in the Olympic park there are many amusement such as climbing wall, variable wood wall, cycling road, and fountain. This place is more suit for families with kids.

GROUND PATTERN & COLOURE Between the time-honored traditional area Hackney Wick and new and fresh area Olympic park, they have different atmosphere. However, in the Olympic park which is just next to Hackney Wick, there are a lot stream-lined pattern, and it makes harmony with Olympic Stadium, Aquatics Centre, Arcelor Mittal Orbit, and other buildings in the park. MATERIALS & ATMOSPHERE The materials make the atmosphere in the area so different. In Hackney Wick most of buildings has old red and yellow bricks, and some old fence is still there. Some buildings have built by corroded iron plates on the full exterior of the buildings. This kind of materials show long standing beauty. In addition, the graf½ti on the wall accent the atmosphere more free, but some graf½ti is on the signs disturb for reading. On the other hand, We can easily to ½nd new materials such as clean iron plate, elastic ground, orderly gabion, and variable wood wall in Olympic park. In the park, no graf½ti, and clean, so I feel more safe there, but less freedom.

STRUCTURE CONTRAST
The shape of architectures in Olympic park makes very different atmosphere compare to Hackney Wick. As we can see the detail, the materials on the Aquatics Centre and Velodrome emphasize their stream lines. Even benches in Velodrom park has stream line and the same material is used as Velodrome. Velodrome is desigend by Hopkins, and it is utilized by cycling. It has holes under audiences’s chairs, and it makes wind path. Therefore, it maintain pleasant temperature by natural ventilation without airconditioner. Aquatics Centre has the shape of ¾uid water ¾ow. Exterior and interior shows the same concept. Exterior shows wave, and interior make feel in the water wave. 'iving structures and ceiling shows the same concept with stream lines.

VISITOR’S FLOW OF TRAFFIC & TIME
This space is that most visitors stay and have a view of the whole scene. It wasn’t inside space before. After it is remodeled, this between space is used for exhibitions. As the picture shows that people stay on the stairs and taking pictures or stay for viewing for a while, this space attract people including me. The reason why is because I didn’t feel it was inside, but actually I was in side. When i go through this area, the atmosphere of the spaces are very different.

SITE WRITING STRATFORD
I realized that it was so freezing day when I got off from Stratford underground station. Outside of the station has a fair view. It was still dark outside, because of cloudy weather. There was a bus stop which doesn’t look ordinarily. There were some structures there, and it looks like rotated roof of the white booth which usually installed outside at festivals and events at an angle of 180 degrees. Each roof has a column, and it has four lights forward to the roof from below. Behind the station, there is Stratford Centre. In front of the building, the installation art of metallic trees attract my attention. It looks like fish skin, because the coloure is shining with emerald green and lemon yellow. Our site is located a bit far from there, it is just next to the Stratford High Street DLR station. The first impression was that no one cares of the building, because the ceiling structure outside became pigeon’s house, and graffitis on the main door and walls. The interesting thing is that the buildings are older and classic near the site building, but on the opposite side, there are modern and simple buildings. The building over the way has yellow frames with black windows. Black windows look like houses on the building. It is one building but with the windows and frames, I felt like many same buildings. When I went to behind of the site building it was so peaceful, nobody was there, and I could just hear some kids playing sound without seeing. I followed the kids sound, and I found them behind trees at the back of boundaries. There are private schools. They all well secured, so I couldn’t enter. On the site building, it has yellow bricks and black pipes. This kind of building is easily found in Hackney Wick. The site building’s entrance is on the back side.

There isn’t any seat front of the stage on ground floor, but there are stairs to go up stair. I went up few stairs, and I saw a bar under red lights. On the right side there is a way go to stair room, and the lights from outside shine the stair room. There are a lot seats upstair. Seats which are in lower arranged closely and higher seats look booths which have pretty large space with white sofas and glass balustrades. Blue lights throw a light on the stairs. I kept going up stairs. There is another bar and at the bar there is whole glass so people can see the stage. There is one more up stair that is for going to emergency exit, toilet, machine room, and some other mystery rooms. I kept walking through another stair room, and I found bar. I felt like the place had been closed recently, because I see all the items they left such as free drink tickets, unwashed glasses, some drinks in the fridge. I tried to go upstairs but the floor seems to collapse if I step on it. In the bar I can see the modern buildings part. In other words, it located very well. This part of the site can explain what place it is and give hints what is inside. W fiel West field d shoppi shoppi opping ng centr centr entre e in Stratford, 2011, London d do

There are is Stratford station which is the main station, and the other one near the site is Stratford High Street station. At the Stratford station, there are Westfeild shopping centre and Stratford Centre which are used by many people. Fewer people use Stratford High Street station, but the main enterance is on the corner. After Westfield was built, only few pedestrians passing on the street front of Rex cinema. The reason why is because there is nothing to attract people. Therefore, I suggest that the main entrance need to be changed to on the front side of the building in front of the main road.

DESIGN PROPOSAL 1 CONCEPT
URBAN HIVE Bee is one of the most communitive insect. When they find floral nectoar, they came to their honeycomb and communicate in their way. Therefore, the other bees calculate how far and which direction they will fly. When they sense any danger, they talk to each other and prepare to protect their hive. Moreover, they bring honey from differnt flowers and share it for their propagation. I would like to make a space that people communicate with their own opinion, and share their ideas like bees. Furthermore, they spread the ideas to other people which they get from the space as bees transfer pollen from a flower to another.

Absence of Communication
KWANKU(K) KANG
Thursday, 11 September, 2025 It has been almost two months that I updated my window as window 25. I activated Google voice and it wakes me up every morning. Moreover, my google glasses get all information I need and it shows pictures and videos to me directly. My mom called me this morning, and she is still using her old mobile. I don’t understand why she is not using her new iPhone S9 which I bought for her as her birthday present last Saturday. She said that it has too many function, and it makes her feel uncomfortable. As many kinds of digital devices melt into our lives, it improves the quality of our lives. 21st century surpassed industrial society and it makes a great feature of actualization which is evolution of information. People who used to be the members of industrial society have substituted with knowledge laborers. I always talk to google voice for checking my email and messages and getting any information I need. It is very easy. I just need to ask it to do for me. It made my life so convenient. I don’t remember when the last time that I have a face to face conversation was. When google voice actualized, people including me have less and less communication. After finish my work I get back home, and have dinner with google voice. There are twelve different voices, they even have names. My favorite is Kate. When I talk to her I don’t feel that she is actually computer. We talk about my family, and about my work. I think she really understands me. These days, my mom is talking about my marriage a lot. I want to meet someone, but I know no one will understand me more than Kate. In addition, there is no place to meet people. I don’t even know who is living in my neighborhood, and I don’t want to try to know for their privacies and mine as well. Community spirit has collapsed since a long time ago. That phenomenon may cause mom’s depression. Sometimes, I feel that I have got the blues, too. Some songs conjure up memories of the good old days that I go to the park and meet people and we just talk. Individualistic thinking method which people do not interfere each other causes absence of communication by formal reason of respect to opponents. I checked the news on the way coming back home from work. The growing problem of dying alone was on main issue. An increasing number of singleperson household and disorganization of the family became serious social problem with all generations. Sometimes, I miss people, and talk to them. We lost a lot conversation. Everyone in the current society is selfish and seems to have lost our love and fun for having a conversation. I just imagine that I would go back to the old time that we had more communication.
