The 2026 Danang Sixes

Page 1

Xin Chao and welcome to The Danang Sixes, Vietnam.

Welcome to our second Danang Sixes and a country that we have taken many groups to –thanks for your interest. It’s a fascinating country to travel and golf in.

For us, Danang is now a growing and exciting golf Mecca. This is a special tour that combines magnificent golf courses against a backdrop of dramatic history and spectacular scenery. We are going back in March 2026; registrations are now open, limited to 48 golfers.

Our 6-course tournament will be hosted in the city of Danang in March 2026 and will feature a line-up of six championship courses designed by some of the greatest names in golf – Ba Na Hills by Luke Donald, BRG Danang by Greg Norman, BRG Danang by Nicklaus Design, Laguna Lang Co. by Sir Nick Faldo, Hoiana Shores by Robert Trent Jones II, Vinpearl Nam Hoi An by IMG.

Our tournament package includes six rounds of golf – all in carts with caddies – staying six nights at the 5-star Marriott Resort on Non Noc Beach, and three nights in Deluxe Ocean Suites at the 5-star Hoiana Hotel & Suites in Hoi An. There is sightseeing at the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Hoi An and the My Son Sanctuary. Our visit to Ba Na Hills, a Frenchthemed village, includes the aerial walkway, known as the Golden Bridge. We have fun at a Vietnamese Cooking School with dinner to follow if your culinary skills are up to scratch! Danang, our host city, is a most charming beach location on the east coast of central Vietnam. It has a captivating history dating back to 192AD under the Champa Kingdom. The influence of the Portuguese explorers in the 1500s, and the French influences from 1847 can be seen and tasted.

In the years 1955-1975 Danang Airport was a major air base for the South Vietnamese and Americans during what we know as the Vietnam War. Relics of the past remain today. Today Danang is the third largest city in Vietnam, after Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi. Not only is the city famous for its beaches, Danang’s charm also lies in its geographical position, leaning against the majestic Truong Son mountains (or the Annamite Range), Monkey Mountains, as well as having its Son Tra Peninsula embracing the sea. Views of the area are seen from many of the chosen golf courses. Pre- and post Danang Sixes 2026, excursions and private tours can be arranged to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Halong Bay.

In 2026 we also offer a special pre-tour add on to Cambodia: a Southeast Asian nation whose landscape spans low-lying plains, the Mekong Delta, mountains and the Gulf of Thailand coastline. Phnom Penh, its capital, is home to the art deco Central Market, glittering Royal Palace and the National Museum’s historical and archaeological exhibits. In the country’s northwest, in Siem Reap are the ruins of Angkor Wat, a massive stone temple complex built during the Khmer Empire. Four nights are on offer in Siem Reip and in Phnom Penh, with golf at the Garden City Golf Club, managed by IMG, and the Chhun On Golf Resort, the latest golf course in Cambodia designed by Brian Curley. We play two rounds in Siem Reap – old favourites of PaR nz Golfing Holidays; Angkor Golf and Phokeethra – by Sir Nick Faldo and V-Golf respectively. Pre- and post Danang Sixes 2026, excursions and private tours can be arranged to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Halong Bay.

Two fascinating countries with developing golf courses of significance on the world stage – come and tour with us!

Day Two – 22 March

Golf @ BRG Danang, Norman Course & visit to Hoi An Designed by

Two nines make up this golfing challenge by the Great White Shark; the Dunes and Ocean courses. The course is predominantly an open layout with undulating terrain, a few slopes to climb and features blown out bunkers. The greens have always been known to be fast and firm with fairways lined with seaside vegetation, rugged dunes and waste – all adding up to be a tough but great test of golf.

The back nine gives some impressive views of the East Vietnam Sea – especially the par-3 16th that is flanked by old gun bunkers from the Vietnam War days.

Since opening, the Norman course was voted 15th best new course by USA Golf Magazine and has won best golf course Asia and Vietnam numerous times.

We take time on this day to visit Hoi An on our way back to the hotel. An optional walking tour of Hoi An – ‘the city of lanterns’ is on offer.

BRG Danang, Norman Course

Old Town Hoi An is an historic, exceptionally well preserved example of a Southeast Asian trading port. The Old Town dates back to the 15th – 19th century with buildings and street plans that reflect both indigenous and foreign influences.

As early as the 17th century, Hoi An became the most important commercial port in Southeast Asia with Malacca; it was also the earliest Chinese port in Vietnam. At that time, out of the need for trade exchanges, Chinese, Japanese, Southeast Asian, and even European businessmen often came to Hoi An, and some even migrated later. Among them, the largest groups

were from China and Japan.

The authorities allowed the establishment of separate streets for the Chinese and Japanese, where they have prospered since forming new communities with their own ethnic characteristics.

After years of vicissitudes, wars and natural disasters, the ancient city of Hoi An has not been destroyed, and the cultural traditions are still well preserved, so it is listed as a “World Cultural Heritage” by UNESCO. Prominent in the city’s old town is the covered Japanese Bridge – 16th / 17th century and one that has many photos taken daily!

Day Three – 23 March

Ba Na Hills Golf & sightseeing

Designed by Luke Donald (2016)

Ba Na Hills has been transformed into one of the area’s top recreational locations with a 72-hole Championship course designed by the winning 2023 Ryder Cup European Captain, Luke Donald. Ba Na Hills was Donald’s first foray into golf design and by all accounts, a winner.

The course is designed around the foothills of the jungle-clad Ba Na Hills mountain range with memorable features like the impressive grass faced bunkers and stunning scenery from

Visit to Ba Na Hills

Entry fees included.

Ba Na Hills began as a hill station and resort made by the French in 1919 – with Captain Debay looking for a place to build a resort and falling in love with the Ba Na hillside. Investment by the colonial government today has created a stunning holiday and recreational centre, 1487m above sea level.

Nothing more so than the Golden Bridge – held aloft by a giant pair of hands. The photos do not do this justice.

The Linh Ung Pagoda, giant Buddha statue, five cable car routes, French Village, which re-enacts an old-fashioned and tranquil scene with recognisable classical landmarks such as the square, church, town, old village and inns – all add up to its nickname – “heaven on earth”.

For four years in a row from 2015 to 2018, Sun World Ba Na Hills was bestowed the accolade of Top Tourist Resort of Vietnam by the Vietnam Association of Tourism. The Golden Bridge, officially inaugurated in June 2018 in Ba Na, was also voted by TIME magazine as one of the “Top 10 best destinations of the world 2018” and admired by The Guardian as “The world’s most impressive pedestrian bridge”.

many holes.

The front nine is a parkland design, somewhat flatter than the winding back nine that twists and turns around the hillside. Water comes into play on the back nine with the par-3 16th plunging downhill stated as the signature challenge.

Ba Na Hills is managed by the IMG Golf Course Services and has been rated 3rd best in Vietnam. Night golf can be enjoyed with all 18 holes floodlit.

Visit to Imperial City of My Son Day sightseeing, lunch included

After a leisurely morning we have an afternoon tour to the Ancient site of My Son Sanctuary, which dates from the 4th to the 13th centuries CE. My Son is located in the mountainous border Duy Xuyen District of Quang Nam Province, in central Vietnam.

The French found the temples of My Son while setting up a telegram line between South and Central Vietnam. The French named the site 'My Son' (beautiful mountain) after a nearby

village. The work to unearth, study and inventory the temples of My Son took years to uncover all the buildings and in 1997 was declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

My Son (pronounced mee son) is a remarkable architectural ensemble that developed over a period of ten centuries. It presents a vivid picture of spiritual and political life in an important phase of the history of South-East Asia. The monuments are unique and without equal in Southeast Asia.

My Son
My Son Day Four – 24 March

Opening with 9 holes in 2018 with a further 9 in 2020 –the Nicklaus designed course is included in the BRG Danang line up.

In contrast to the Norman course, Nicklaus has created a masterpiece in and out of swamps and paddy fields. Holes line the Coco river with views back to Danang, interconnecting lakes and creeks, all add up to what some say are a ‘Floridian’

feel? In fact, many of the materials used in the build were imported from the USA.

While water has to be navigated on many holes, the fairways are wide with typical Nicklaus ‘risk & reward’ options. Night golf options are possible on the Nicklaus course as well as the neighbouring Norman course.

Day Six – 26 March

Faldo’s course has been rated as high as 4th best in Vietnam. The course lies between the East Vietnam Sea and the coastal mountain range which is extensively jungle clad. The course has an interesting array of six natural habitats to play and navigate including water, rice paddies, woodlands, dune lands, beach with sandy ‘blowouts’ to bring you to the

19th. While essentially seaside you only really see the sea on the 9th and 10th holes – both par 4s.

The course is named after the nearby village of Lang Co which is sandwiched between Lap An Lagoon and the South China Sea on a peninsula known for its seafood stalls and the long white sandy beach. Time here on the way back for photos!

Day Seven – 27 March

Vietnam Cooking School

Award winning Tra Que Organic Vegetable Village

Enjoy a leisurely morning at the resort before heading off to the Tra Que Organic Vegetable Village in Hoi An. Here we learn about Vietnamese ingredients and cooking styles as we cook our own dinner hosted by television chef and local personality, Nguyen Thu Huong. After enjoying a meal and drinks together we transfer to our final hotel, the fabulous Hoiana Hotel & Suites, for three nights in Deluxe Ocean Suites.

Vinpearl Nam Hoi An, located within the mega-project development which is targeting several courses, hotels, entertainment centres, the 18 hole course only opened in 2018.

This may be the easiest course we play with generous wide fairways, not overly penal bunkering and a relatively flat layout. Vinpearl Nam Hoi An is a very pleasant challenge, with several scenic ponds, unique drive-through waste areas and rolling dunes lined with Casuarina pines. A well-crafted links-style layout!

Day Nine – 29 March Golf @ Hoiana Shores and farewell dinner

In 2020 PaR nz was one of the first international groups to have the privilege of playing this masterpiece in its very early days –and it’s a stunner! It was Robert Trent Jones II first project in Vietnam.

Hoiana Shores is a links course, known for rolling dunes, close to the sea and subject to sea breezes, Hoiana ticks all these boxes. The course has two distinct nine-hole loops with very little water to worry about, with six holes located directly adjacent to the beach. Bunkers will need to be managed! Hoiana Shores is located only 8 kms from the ancient town of Hoi An.

This course will be a fitting end to our 6-course challenge which we will celebrate over dinner and wine at our final get together. We hope you enjoy!
