2026 SOUTH AFRICA INCLUDING VICTORIA FALLS 1

MAY – 17 MAY 2026

South Africa – the Rainbow Nation – is such a fantastic destination. It excites us in so many ways which is why we will return on tour in May 2026.

A tour with challenging and dramatic golf from some of the world’s leading golf architects, amazing game drives and wildlife that only South Africa can offer, world-class food and wine and scenery that simply delights. Will you join us in 2026? Read on!

Our 17-day tour starts in Fancourt – one of the country’s leading golf resorts. We stay four nights here and begin our South Africa Golf Challenge with three rounds of golf – two at Fancourt, including the private Links course, and nearby at the spectacular Pinnacle Point course.

Arrive early on tour and play extra golf – play the Nicklaus Simola Course or have another round at Fancourt – there are four courses to choose from all designed by none other than

Mr Gary Player – including the newly opened ‘Links Experience’. This breathtaking addition to Fancourt’s world-class golfing portfolio offers a unique and versatile playing experience, catering to golf enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. The Links Experience is an intriguing par 34 layout featuring one par 5, three par 3s, and five par 4s. To enhance flexibility, the course boasts dedicated par 3 tee-boxes, allowing players to opt for a purely par 3 experience if they wish.

From Fancourt we travel west along the Garden Route via Hermanus, a charming seaside village, to Arabella Golf Resort where we stay two nights. We play Arabella – designed by South Africa’s leading golf architect (after the Black Knight of course) –Peter Matkovich.

We then travel to Cape Town for a luxurious 5-night stay at the deluxe 5-Star Cape Grace Hotel. In Cape Town we play golf at

Cape Town

Steenberg, Pearl Valley and De Zalze – three leading courses. We also take in Table Mountain and a visit to Robben Island.

A tour highlight has been, and will be again for sure, three nights at Kruger National Park on a full-board basis – that’s all food and drinks included! Safaris morning and night to see the Big 5 with golf at the private Leopard Creek (both the 18 Hole Championship course and the 9-hole Executive course) designed by Gary Player.

We finish our 2026 tour with two nights at the 5-Star Royal Livingstone Hotel in Zambia visiting the magnificent Victoria Falls from both the Zambia and Zimbabwe sides. An evening cruise and farewell dinner together to celebrate the tour before departing on 17 May. Bon Voyage till next time.

After the main tour – you may like to consider 4 days / 3 nights on the 5-Star Rovos Rail which includes time at Hwange National

Park and Matobo National Park – another full-board basis where you finish at Pretoria, not far from the Johannesburg International Airport. If you have not done a luxury train journey before, from our own personal recommendation, this is the one to do.

Have we tempted you yet?

Places are limited to 28 golfers and, from past experience, the PaR nz led South Africa tour sells out within weeks, if not days! So be in quick and register your place now!

Cheers and thanks

Fancourt Outeniqua

Day 1 – 1 May 2026

Fancourt

Today we check into Fancourt – a golfer’s oasis. Four nights accommodation in luxury rooms, breakfast included daily. Organise your international flights (or PaR nz can arrange) with domestic connections into George Airport, 10 mins from Fancourt.

Fancourt, South Africa’s premier leisure and golf resort, is situated in the heart of the Garden Route. Ideally located just seven kilometres from both George Airport and the historic town of George, Fancourt is superbly landscaped on 613 hectares of lush countryside with the majestic Outeniqua Mountains as the perfect backdrop.

Day 2 – 2 May 2026

Golf @ Fancourt

First golf on tour – golf at either Fancourt’s Montagu or Outeniqua – to be confirmed when tee sheets open for the 2026 season.

The owners of Fancourt are German millionaires Dr Hasso & Sabine Plattner – founders of software giant SAP. Golf started at Fancourt with 27 holes in 1990, officially opening a year later.

Fancourt was recently ranked in the top 10 golf resorts in the world and is the only golf resort in South Africa with four breath-taking golf courses, all designed by Gary Player.

The Montagu course is a much-celebrated parkland course and has been previously ranked as the #1 golf course in South Africa. Play is restricted to members, their guests and hotel guests, so we are in! Fancourt also boasts a world class Golf Academy, with outstanding practice and warm-up facilities –check it out.

The alternative Fancourt course, Outeniqua (the name means ‘land of milk and honey’)is a sweet challenge to finish. Possibly slightly easier than Montagu – the course is parkland, where stylish bunkers await as do fast undulating greens.

Day 3

– 3 May 2026

Golf @ Pinnacle Point

Today we play on the coast at Pinnacle Point.

The Pinnacle Point Golf Course is something truly unique for the discerning golfer. This 18-hole championship golf course was designed by well-known South African golf course architect Peter Matkovich who opened the course together with top Irish Tour Professional Darren Clarke in November 2006; Clarke is on record as saying that Pinnacle Point is “... the best golf course on the planet”.

The par-72 course is characterised by seven majestic holes that line the Indian Ocean rock cliffs, four of which are played over ocean and cliff.

Pizza night on our return – included – drinks own care.

Victoria Falls

Day 4 - 4 May 2026

Golf @ Fancourt’s Links

The Links course at Fancourt opened for play in November 2000 and it represents a unique and challenging South African golfing experience. The course was designed by Gary Player but only after the Black Knight’s team had studied in great detail the characteristics of classic Scottish links courses. The Links at Fancourt does indeed resemble a traditional seaside links course but, so far, they have failed to recreate the changeable British weather. That’s good news for us!

It’s hard to believe that The Links at Fancourt and the host venue for the 2003 Presidents Cup, which resulted in a historic tie between Tiger Woods and Ernie Els, was once an airfield. The earth certainly moved at Fancourt and the result is a jaunty ramble through wetlands, and gigantic dunes with the majestic Outeniqua Mountains providing a stunning backdrop. Surely this is South Africa’s most unusual and remarkable golf course.

Fancourt History:

The history of Fancourt, its families and people, begins in 1860. British engineer, Henry Fancourt White, settled with this wife, son and daughter at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains near George. Here, he built an elegant family home, known as Blanco House. It was designed in the style of an old Cotswold mansion.

Henry White played a vital role in the development of the commercial infrastructure around the area’s Montagu Pass. Shortly after his passing, the property was auctioned and sold to his son, Ernest Montagu White. He renamed the house “Fancourt” in honour of his father and made extensive restorations. Montagu passed away in a tragic incident of wild mushroom poisoning, which saw the property fall into a state of disrepair.

In 1960, after almost 30 years of neglect, Dr. Roland Anthony Krynauw, a South African brain surgeon, purchased the property. He began to restore it to its former glory. Today, the refined Manor House is a national monument and a testament to his dedication.

In 1989 the estate passed hands again and was transformed into a top-class hotel and golfing destination under the direction of Andre and Helene Pieterse.

Today, the extensive Fancourt estate is owned by Dr Hasso and Sabine Plattner. Fancourt offers a luxurious, contemporary and relaxed environment, perfectly blending the charms of its family origins and rich heritage with modern convenience. With award-winning golf courses, fine dining, wellness and family-friendly facilities, all Fancourt guests, from the youngest to the oldest, are assured that they will feel at home. We are sure we will also!

Day 5 – 5 May 2026

Today we head to the golf resort of Arabella for two nights, with some time at the quaint seaside village of Hermanus. The popular resort town of Hermanus, situated between mountain and sea, has gained world-wide recognition as the world’s foremost land-based whale watching destination. Hermanus is a popular destination for tourists, being a mere 140km from the city centre of Cape Town.

We settle into Arabella Golf Resort in Deluxe Premium rooms. Welcome drink on arrival!

Arabella

Day 6 – 6 May 2026

Golf Arabella; a demanding and exceptional design that offers a challenging experience. A parkland design, with wide kikuyu fairways and bent-grass greens. The exceptional overall conditioning of this course ensures that it is consistently rated the best course in the Western Cape and amongst the country’s top five courses by both leading South African golf publications. Opened in 1999, designed by Peter Matkovich.

Day 7 – 7 May 2026

Cape Town

Cape Town is known as the ‘Mother City’, being the site of the first European settlement. Mother Nature surpassed herself when crafting the region. Perched between the ocean and the mountain, with a national park at its heart, there is nowhere like Cape Town. The city with its 4.6 million population is the second largest and oldest in South Africa and has a cultural heritage spanning more than 300 years. It is in Cape Town that the Rainbow Nation really covers the spectrum.

Cape Town boasts the top tourism attractions in South Africa, all of which should appear on every visitor’s itinerary – namely Table Mountain, the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Robben Island, along with the penguins at Boulders Beach, Cape Point and the infamous maritime landmark, The Cape of Good Hope.

Day 8 – 8 May 2026

Golf Steenberg

Steenberg Golf Course is nestled under the Constantia mountains in the Constantia valley. The valley meanders through the vineyards of South Africa’s oldest wine farms dating back to the late 1600s in the days of its progressive Governor Simon van der Stel.

The course has a deserved reputation for having the best greens in Cape Town. The setting adds to the attractiveness of the course, providing glorious views of vineyards, bush and mountain flora. Designed by Peter Matkovich and opened in 1998.

After golf today we visit the famous Stellenbosch vineyards for wine tasting.

Africa including Victoria Falls

Day 9 – 9 May 2026

Sightseeing Cape Town

Today we take in Table Mountain and a visit to Robben Island.

Table Mountain, best known for its tabletop shape and name, gives us some of the best views of the city and bay. The low hanging cloud that comes over most days is known as the Tablecloth – of course!

Serving as Cape Town and South Africa’s iconic landmark, Table Mountain is now one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. In 2011, over 500 million people worldwide voted the Mountain their top wonder of the natural world out of 28 finalists.

We can walk to the top – mmm – or we ride The Cableway taking us to the summit in under five minutes. The cable car’s rotating floor ensures that all visitors get a 360-degree aerial view of the city.

Robben Island was used at various times between the 17th and 20th centuries as a prison, a hospital for socially unacceptable groups and a military base. Its buildings, particularly those of the late 20th century such as the maximum-security prison for political prisoners, have witnessed the triumph of democracy and freedom over oppression and racism.

Robben Island’s most famous prisoner was Nelson Mandela. In the winter of 1964, Nelson Mandela arrived on Robben Island where he would spend 18 of his 27 prison years. Mandela was confined to a 7-by-9-foot cell containing his bed, and a bucket for a toilet. He was forced to do hard labour in a quarry and allowed one visitor only every year, for 30 minutes.

Catch up drinks tonight after our return from Robben Island.

Day 10 – 10 May 2026

Golf Pearl Valley

Designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened in 2003, the Pearl Valley Golf Estate is surrounded by the Simonsberg and Drakenstein Mountains and bordered by vineyards with The Berg River water hazard running through it. Pearl Valley is one of the latest South African additions to Jack Nicklaus’s repertoire of signature-designed courses worldwide. Nicklaus has stayed true to his design principles by working closely with nature and has provided a golf course that fits in with the environment.

Day 11 – 11 May 2026

Nestled in the heart of the winelands, within the parameters of the renowned De Zalze Winelands Golf Estate, lies the 18-hole championship De Zalze Golf Course. Celebrating a rich history, the origins of the championship golf course date back to the mid1990s when renowned golf course designer Peter Matkovich was first commissioned to design an 18-hole course stretching over three farms on the outskirts of Stellenbosch.

The De Zalze complex traces its history through three wine-producing farms that blended to form a larger estate. The Estate has a working wine farm named Kleine Zalze, as well as fairways surrounded by serene vineyards, olive groves & lavender fields, which all produce marketable crops for the De Zalze Estate. In the heart of South Africa’s wine country, within the Stellenbosch area, De Zalze occupies 750 acres of premium real estate.

After golf we have a Braai and enjoy a wine or two!

Golf De Zalze

Day 12 – 12 May 2026

Kruger National Park

Today we head to Kruger National Park by a domestic flight into Nelspruit airport. And then three nights at Lukimbi Safari Lodge. This will be a tour highlight – for sure! We could write for days about this amazing park!

Nestled in the heart of South Africa, Kruger National Park is a massive and fascinating wilderness reserve, teeming with diverse wildlife. Established in 1898, it is also the oldest national park in South Africa.

Kruger is home to the iconic Big Five: lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and Cape buffalos. The park also monitors several endangered bird species, including the Bateleur eagle, southern ground hornbill, lappet-faced vulture, martial eagle, Kori bustard, and grey-headed parrot. In addition to the Big Five, Kruger Park boasts the Little Five, including the buffalo weaver, elephant shrew, leopard tortoise, ant lion, and rhino beetle.

We start our three nights in Kruger with an evening game drive. Then dinner – all food and beverages included at Lukimbi.

Day 13 – 13 May 2026

Golf Leopard Creek 9 Hole Executive

We start our tour of Kruger with a gentle warm up on the challenging par 3 course at Leopard Creek designed by Gary Player. Initially developed as a training centre it is an amazing, interesting and extremely well maintained 9-hole course – entirely made up of par 3s. The short course sits inside the 33-hectare tract of land within an area that is made up of hitting, chipping and putting areas – one of the most comprehensive of its kind in the world?

Safari on route and on way back to the Lodge as well – dinner on site, again!

Day 14 – 14 May 2026

Golf Leopard Creek 18 Hole Championship

We return to Leopard Creek to play the Championship course. Working closely with the Kruger National Park and nature conservation authorities, the Leopard Creek Golf Course was specifically designed to blend in with the surroundings, providing sophisticated leisure amenities in an undisturbed natural environment. Innovative architectural and landscaping techniques ensure that the golf course is in harmony with the environment, while lakes and small streams have been diverted through the development to create scenic vistas and interesting golf strategies. Sightings of crocodile, hippo, antelope, buffalo, and wild boar are commonplace, either on the course itself or in or next to the river running alongside several holes. Golfing hazards take on a new dimension at Leopard Creek for much of the water is home to hippos and the creature for which the adjacent river is named – crocodile. To single out a signature hole is brave as there are some memorable holes. Not for the faint-hearted, the par five 18th is not particularly long at 475m, but the island green presents a tricky shot over water.

Day 15 – 15 May 2026

Victoria Falls

We start the grand finalé to our 2026 tour – two days at Victoria Falls – after departing Kruger via plane at Nelspruit to Livingstone. We stay at the Royal Livingstone Hotel that has zebras, giraffes, and monkeys on site and maybe post twilight, an odd elephant or two roaming the roadways past the entry gate.

Located in southwestern Zambia, only a few kilometres from the Zambezi River and the border with Zimbabwe, the Royal Livingstone is a hub for visitors to the Victoria Falls. The adjoining Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park surrounds the Zambian side of the falls. Make sure you check out the Livingstone Museum which traces the life of the Scottish explorer and missionary, Dr David Livingstone, after whom the town was named.

At sunset, we take a cruise on the famous Zambezi River with canapes and drinks included.

Day 16 – 16 May 2026

Victoria Falls

Today we explore the falls – from both the Zambia and Zimbabwe sides.

David Livingstone was the first European to set eye on Victoria Falls when he discovered them in 1855 – he named them after Queen Victoria citing their rare beauty. The Falls are one of the seven natural wonders of the world, with over 5 million cubic metres of water falling, every minute! During the wet season the water cascades into a gorge over 100 metres deep. The opposing cliffs that comprise the gorge are made from basalt and rise to the same height – the Falls sit on the very border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. Make sure you have a wander at night as the Falls are home to a ‘Moonbow’ which is a rainbow at night.

While known as the world’s largest waterfall Victoria Falls is neither the highest (Angel Falls) nor the widest (Khone Falls). However, it is the largest curtain of falling water on the planet, one and a half times wider than Niagara Falls and twice as high. 1708 metres wide and 108 metres high, to be exact!

Our final dinner to be enjoyed on tour at our magnifico hotel before we depart tomorrow.

Day 17 – 17 May 2026

Depart or Rovos Rail option

After breakfast we will transfer to Livingstone airport for onward connections – or maybe experience a Rovos Rail tour – keeping your African adventure alive for longer.

An overview of the Rovos Rail Extension follows:

17 May – Road transfer from Royal Livingstone Hotel to Victoria Falls Station: Depart @ 5.00pm. Dinner from 7.30pm is served.

18 May – Today’s journey includes a game drive in Hwange National Park, the nation’s largest wildlife area - with the train then travelling along one of the world’s longest stretches of straight railway line – 114km – en route to Bulawayo: second city of Zimbabwe, capital of Matabeleland and industrial capital of the country.

19 May – Visit Matobo National Park where you will see historic bushmen caves, rock art and the grave of Cecil John Rhodes while crossing into Zimbabwe.

20 May – On the 3rd day – the train crosses the Limpopo River to Musina for South African border formalities. In Rudyard Kipling’s Just So Stories, the ‘Elephant’s Child’ departs his family for the “great grey-green, greasy Limpopo River, all set about with fevertrees, to find out what the Crocodile has for dinner”. The train crosses the Tropic of Capricorn with dinner served in the dining cars en route to Pyramid, passing the edge of the escarpment where the Highveld drops precipitously.

Golf & Safari Frequently Asked Questions

Where do we start the South African Tour?

• Our tour starts at Fancourt, so with your international flight arrivals (typically Johannesburg or Cape Town), you need to include a domestic flight to George Airport refer GRJ. PaR nz Golfing Holidays can assist with international flights.

• The following flights are included in the tour price and will be booked by PaR nz Golfing Holidays as a group booking. The luggage allowance is 2 x 20kg pieces of checked in luggage per person (1 x suitcase and a golf bag).

~ 12 May – flight from Cape Town (CPT) to Nelspruit (MQP for transfer on to Kruger National Park. ~ 15 May – flight from Nelspruit (MQP) to Livingstone (LVI) for transfer on to the Royal Livingstone Hotel.

• The tour ends in Livingstone, Zambia with transfers to Livingstone Airport (LVI) included for onward domestic connections back to Johannesburg. Departure times from the hotel on the 17 May will generally be in the morning and will be advised when all flight times are known.

• Transfers to the Rovos Rail Victoria Falls station are also included for those wishing to do the 5-Star Luxury Rail Journey to Pretoria.

Clothing – what to wear and what to bring

• Normal golf attire is expected at all golf clubs – cargo pants, denim etc are not permitted. All evening meals included are based on smart casual dress.

• For those going on to Rovos Rail – formal clothing is required for dinner – jacket & tie, ladies to suit. Smart casual during the day is fine on board.

• Safari clothing – Many of you will remember the scenes from Out of Africa when Karen Blixen went on Safari with everything including the kitchen sink and the gramophone! Luckily for us the lodges are so well equipped you can leave your hairdryer at home, rest assured that they will have one there for you.

• Safaris are generally casual affairs, even at the luxury camps such as Lukimbi. There is no need to bring evening wear but you’ll want to be warm and comfortable. Make sure none of your clothes are too bright in colour – that includes white. Bring clothes that are loose fitting and comfortable, and which you don’t mind getting dirty. It will be chilly in the early morning when you start your game drive, so you’ll need to layer up and take a fleece.

We suggest:

• Hats and caps – broad brimmed hat as well as cap.

• Good walking shoes and socks for game drives and game walks – many of the safari lodges include Bush Walks as part of your game drive activities.

• Sandals or open footwear to wear around camp during the day.

• A small backpack or rucksack for game walks.

• A light jacket or windbreaker and a fleece top for game drives – even during the summer the temperatures can drop significantly after sunset.

• Pale and natural coloured clothing so you blend in with the bush – look the part and wear neutral colours. For walking safaris do not wear white or cream.

• A sarong and swimwear for the pool.

• The lodges in Africa have a very relaxed dress code. There is no need to dress up for dinner. While it’s nice to freshen up before dinner – sometimes the game viewing is so good that time does not allow for it!

Money. Whats the currency?

• The local currency is RAND (ZAR) and is widely used. The tip monies as noted separately will be included in the final invoices and all major tips for drivers, guides and rangers will be paid by the PaR nz team.

• Some golf clubs are cashless now and we will endeavour to provide details ahead of our visits and golf days.

• Some local currency is recommended but in the main we are in tourist locations where credit cards are widely used. Some local markets only take cash.

• For the two nights we are in Zambia – the local currency is Kwacha. For the two nights we would suggest minimal Kwacha is needed, if at all. Use a credit card.

Vaccines

/ Insurance / Visas

What you need to know (current as at the time of writing)

• All travel is at your own risk. On booking we strongly suggest a full and comprehensive travel insurance policy is undertaken to protect yourself for all possible eventualities however remote they may be.

• We are mainly in city/town areas where the chances of malaria or any other tropical disease are extremely rare. However, it is your own call to take vaccines. For your info –the PaR nz team have not taken or felt the need for vaccines in the past but are mindful to check every time before entry into Africa.

• Visas for New Zealanders and Australians, are NOT needed for entry into South Africa.

• New Zealand and Australian passport holders need entry visas in and out of Zambia and Zimbabwe which PaR nz will arrange.

Golf & Safari Frequently Asked Questions (continued)

Golf – tell me about the golf?

• All play is in carts. At The Links @ Fancourt, a caddy is mandatory per person. Closer to the time caddy tip pricing will be advised, payment of which is expected in cash. Current rates are ZAR 395 per person.

• Over the tour the PaR nz team will do daily draws mixing everyone up – men, women and by handicap. We will run a fun daily competition over the 9 rounds with handicaps changing daily as per the PaR nz Points System™. The idea is to get you to play with as many on the tour as possible making new friends and reacquainting you with previous golfing partners. The PaR nz team works hard on all group dynamics and wants to show you the best of South African golf, and more!

Are non-golfing partners welcome?

Yes! There are many additional activities we can add in for partners depending on their hobbies and interests. We have found over many years it is best to personalise such programmes rather that have set partner programmes. Some ideas include: Fancourt
